Help 4g on my amaze - HTC Amaze 4G

I don't know why my battery drains insanely fast when 4g is used. The screen turns warm and battery drain like 1% per minutes is what I got. any idea?

Do you mean 4G or do you mean Data? What's your ROM? Does this happen over WIFI. My present theory is that you have an app pulling a lot of data and killing your batt.

Try wcdma only instead of auto.

hi
when I wifi, I got around 3 hours with screen on. When on 4g data, it uses 2% battery per minute even not in auto mode or auto mode. Is there a problem with a phone? Im using speedrom8 ROM.

My 4g doesn't work on my 3VO just scans and disconnects in places I had full signal in the og evo

Try the 4G hack found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140870&page=8 about halfway down. You will need your MSL. I did the hack and got 4G in my house where before I had to go outside for 4G. My download speeds are in the 5Mb range indoors.
Still no luck just scans and disconnects must be a prob with the phone

Have you tried pulling the battery? After the PRL update yesterday, my phone did the same thing. I pulled the battery for a min and replaced it. That solved the problem.

WCDMA to GSM battery saver?

So I have 2gb of data and used it all up. If I understand correctly it will still say 4g but throttled down to 2g. If I go to my settings wireless and mobile networks and change to use gsm only it will actually switch to 2g in the notification bar. My question is by only using gsm instead of wcdma will I have a longer lasting battery? Doesn't wcdma require more power consumption? And last, I've also noticed that if I have wcdma 4g throttle down with 2-3 bars vs gsm 2g full bars I get slightly better speed results. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Floyd P.

For sure it will have better battery life, edge connectivity uses less battery life, in addition, it won't have to ever switch back and forth.

I thought so... I also noticed speeds are faster on edge when I have full bars which is 80% of the time. Thanks

Has nothing to do with the Amaze 4G.
Do not spam the forums again or you WILL be banned!
This is your final warning!
A ton of battery use goes to your device searching for the best/strongest signal...eliminate the need for it to search, and you will definitely save power.
Thanks for the info guys

[Q]Network Mode

Does setting network mode to Cdma only turn off the Lte? I think it would but I read online that Lte stays on all the time
Sent from my EVO LTE using XDA
It not only tells the device NOT to turn on LTE but also tells the devicenot to LOOK for an LTE signal which in my experience enhanced battery life... Well may not have enhanced battery life to be honest because I was only on charge number 2 when I turned it off LoL but will actually turn it back on and see how battery fates then to compare and do my best to keep using the phone as much as I have been to get proper results for the comparison.

Thanks. I feel like this would be like leaving GPS or Wimax on. Wasting the battery.

Except leaving GPS on doesn't waste battery. It's only using power when it's actually active. This was a big question people asked 2 years ago when the OG Evo came out.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

But with all the apps that try to pull your location I always thought it was hurting my battery on the OG. I am a battery whore so it could have been in my head.

Yes, it is really only active when instructed to do so by certain apps at certain times like posting on FaceBook, using Nav, etc etc.

Battery + temperature on "edge" (1x network)

Hey guys,
I'm finding that when my phone is in an area with very poor data and goes to 1x mode that after a few minutes the phone will get very hot and it seems to drink battery like no one's business.
I'm wondering if there's a way to disable 1x at all? It's pretty much useless anyways these days the throughput isn't even enough to really even send / receive emails from my server let alone anything else.
I'm finding myself having to manually disable mobile data when I notice it's occurring (which I don't always). really the only way I notice is why my pocket starts getting warm =)
Thanks!
This also has been happening to me. In school a lot of my classes are in the basement and I get terrible reception.
Turn off Mobile data then?
Poor service and battery use have always gone hand in hand.
Set up a toggle to turn off your data connection at those times? You'll still get texts and phone calls.

I stated that I would do this in my first post but I also stated that I don't always notice it. It sucks to lose 30-50% of your battery life before you realize you're in power drain mode.
Does anyone know if I can just disable the 1X antenna completely (permanently) at all times?
Thanks!
If I'm not mistaken 1x is data roaming, so disabling the roam option in your data settings should eliminate it

If thays so then thanks TL!
I had always thought it was just a poor connection which put you on 1x because the data connection was so slow.

1x (also known as CDMA2000) isn't data roaming, but it is a very slow data connection.

1x is essentially 2g. EVDO is 3g.
You will know you are romaing when your signal bars have a triangle on top of them. That is the only roaming indicator.
When your on 1X your Phone Constantly tries to connect to 3G/LTE your battery ifs drained from your phone trying to connect to 3G

Couldn't find the options you're referring to under "mobile network settings"
you can change roaming mode - but none of these settings seems like it would work.
Am I missing something? Thanks for the reply!

This is what will preserve your battery life from a poor connection if it bothers you.
1x is not roaming. Its a very slow connection due to a poor connection.
Roam settings is in mobile connections. It will give you some options for roaming.

The problem is I'm not doing it by choice this is on the stock ROM or any other Sense ROM I've tried (OMJ, Fresh, Stock Rejuv)

Is it supposed yo be that bad ?

I am in Europe not got rid of the non verizon sim messege but on Orange PL my s4 vzw version is on hspa+ i get around 10 mbps to 13 which is good pings arojnx 30.
But my battery dies crazy fast 7 hours runtime with almost 3hrs screen time.
I have no wifi here I have to tether but even without tethering it dies crazy fast.
Any tips or tricks ?
