I looked around on this forum and elsewhere and did not resolve my issue. I have a GT-I9300 phone with Android 4.1.2. When I use it with the Samsung OEM desk dock EDD-D200BE then the audio-out comes out great via the USB connection. But when I use a cable made for the same purpose, it does not. My wife has an AT&T version of S3 and it behaves exactly the same way.
Any ideas?

I have a Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note.
Both devices wont charge in a cradle, only directly when plugged into the phone.
Could someone advise me on how to fix this problem.

Contact cradle manufacturer .

Both charging cradles were working fine.
I've inadvertently changed settings to do with USB utilities and or Kies via wi-fi while hooking it up to the TV to watch some shows.

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S3. It has Android 4.0.4 (ICS). However, when i tried to connect it to my VW EOS via a USB cable, the car failed to recognise the device. It worked with my previous phone, an HTC Desire. Upon reading a wee bit, it looks like ICS drops USB Mass Storage support in favour of MTP. Is this why the connections doesn't work? Is there any way around this?

No and maybe. But, depending on you phone and car software this could all be for not. Try running your phone in USB debugging mode. Go to settings and Developer Options and turn them on. Check USB Debugging mode.
Try it in your Car.
You can also either make sure your phone drivers are up to date, (sometimes Samsung will patch this). This will then allow you to see if there is a update to the phone so it will work. It goes on and on, but over all it depends on VWs side. If they don't allow for anything but a USB Mass, then you can try a dock for your phone to you car. Samsung has one for turing your phone into a computer. It might trick your car into thinking its a mass usb, but I haven't read up on them.
Hello,
I recently bought a new Samsung Galaxy but I sadly had to return it as it didn't work with my USB port in my car (Vauxhall Insignia UK) and went back to using my iphone 4. Problem is, I bloody miss the damn phone so much! But had to return it before my return window closed.
So my car USB port works with usb memory sticks and 'works with iphone' obviously but it would never work with the Samsung Galaxy as my car doesn't support MTP. I even tried the easyUMS but that didn't work.
Is there another option out there? I can't be the only one having this problem? Sadly I cant change the factory stereo as it's a company car and bluetooth isn't an option neither.
It's such a shame as the Galaxy beats the iPhone in every department bar working with a car USB port.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks in advance for any help.
can any one help me here, im trying to route audio out via the dock connector,
i bought one cable and cant seem to get it to work,
do i need to configure something in android inorder set it up so it works?
or should it route sound out via the connector automatically? and if it should, ill assume the cable i bought doesnt work, so can anyone recommend a cable that will work with a p3110 (tab 2 7.0)?
thanks
mike
here's a thread that has one that worked for the 10.1 tab2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35216441#post35216441 it goes from the 30-pin out to a USB charging cable and rca outputs, if thats what your talking about, basically a single plug in for like a car dock setup.
If I remember right you have to go into the settings and go to sound settings it works for mine but I have the 10.1 tab 2

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me please.
I recently purchased Samsung's smart dock to use with my note 3. It goes into dock mode when i sit the phone in the dock and i can control the phone using a wireless keyboard and mouse so the dock seems to be working as it should. Ive tried 2 hdmi cables on all 3 sockets on my panasonic viesa tv. I just cant get a picture on the tv.
I have tried all the obvious reboots, checking connections etc.
I can't see what the fault may be and I don't have another screen with hdmi input to test it with.
any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Did you plug in your power supply?
Yeah, plugged into power socket using all official Samsung cables plugs etc. It's driving me mad. I'm going to try it on a friends TV tonight. Hopefully it's just a compatability issue with my TV. But I use the hdmi inputs with other several other things as well without problems.
my note 3 is rooted on a tw rom.
So I tried a Samsung brand TV. Still no picture, so I installed stock firmware and tried again. Still nothing, so I guess I have a faulty smart dock or I have damaged my port on my phone. (It charges and transfers data fine without any problems).
I shall be exchanging the dock, but if that does not sort it I guess it's the port. If it's the port then I've voided my warranty by setting knox to 0x1.
Does anyone know how I would be able to test it, because it doesn't seem damaged to me.
