I don't know if this mentioned yet, but you might be aware that you can't move apps to your ext. SD Card to free up space on your phone.
For some reasons Apps2SD doesn't seem to work on Samsung phones.
After doing a bit of browsing/research I came across an app called "FolderMount." [Requires Root]
This works by mounting folders in your ext. SDcard to your internal SD Card, fooling your device into thinking your external storage is part of your internal storage.
Here is a quote by the developer:
madmack said:
Today some apps store big files over the internal SD card (e.g. Games, Podcasts, Offline RSS feeds, Pictures, Offline navigation software). Typically users have a small internal sd card size (~16GB) while the external SD is a lot bigger (~32-64GB). Most of these apps don't have an option to use the external SD card to store data so they starve your internal SD card memory. I'm bringing this solution to fix this issue. In my case, I use this app to mount offline navigation software and some GameLoft games (NFS anyone?).
Doesn't this do the same thing as previous apps?
There are a few apps that already do this. However, my app differs in that:
a) Some of the existing apps aren't maintained anymore. FolderMount will be maintained by me as we go forward.
b) While most of the previous apps work properly in most cases, I found them not very intuitive to setup initially and were lacking some necessary "sanity checks" before linking folders. I intend to keep this app as intuitive and bug free as possible.
c) Support for Android 4.2.2! No app will currently do that for you, so here it is. (dev talk: this uses the debuggerd service trick to get it to work).

FolderMount is also available on the Play Store.

Agree. Worth every penny. I just bought a 64gb MicroSD today, so I'm happy I'm able to make use of it lol
My money......you will take it.
I bought it from play store. I agree this is a great app. I would love to be able to do one mount. For example mount all of android folder to external instead of sub folders and when installing new apps it automatically writes to SD card. Another option would be great is to have your external SD card act as internal and swap them around.
This app is well worth the cost.

Me too. Too bad that seems like the best solution as you don't have to offload every large app and it would move new ones automatically. I wonder what the danger is?

Let's use Modern Combat 4 as an example for this:
Once you download Modern Combat, it stores all of its data on your internal SDcard in the following location:
/Android/obb/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM4HM
This folder is somewhere around 2GB i believe, or something like that.
The goal FolderMount is to move the above folder to your external MicroSD, but at the same time, fool your phone into thinking that the folder data is still in the internal drive.
To do this, do the following;
Download and install FolderMouint and give it root permissions.
Start the applications and click at on the "+".
For Name, Put in Modern Combat 4
For Source, chose Android -> obb -> com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM4HM and press the checkmark button at the top.
You will get a message saying the following
"Would you like me to create the destination folder automatically?..blah blah blah"
Just choose yes.
Now press the Check mark button at the top again. It will start to move all the files to your external MicroSD card.
Once that has been completed, in the main FolderMount screen, you will see a little pin beside "Modern Combay 4". Press that and it will mount your folders together and it should work!
Sorry, I kind of rushed through this. Let me know if you need more help
Thank u!

According to every forum I found when I googled this question, its located at "Android/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music/", however, the folder comes out empty when I find this location. So FolderMount might not help us with this. An alternative to FolderMount for Google Music is an app called Google Play Music+. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140756
It lets you choose the folder which the music is downloaded to.

You can get rid of these crappy movie and crappy game to free up your SD card.
1. Connect your phone to PC via given USB cable
2. Be sure to mount as 'SD card' not 'USB charging' via your phone screen
3. Browse your phone's SD card via your PC
4. Crap Hornet 3D is located in ".data/HtcWatch/preload_movies/2141_0_SonyPictures_GreenHornet_3D.eny" at a whopping 1.76 GB. Delete the whole damn folder.
5. Crapman 3D game is located in "gameloft" folder at the root. Delete the whole thing. It's about 800 mb.
Viola! You just saved 2.5GB~ of your 8GB card, that's over 31% of your precious storage!

I'm thinking Spider-man downloads to your SD card only if you initially press the app icon.

Look for App2SD in the Market. This should have been in Themes and Apps, BTW.
That's not what I mean. Games and apps look to the internal memory, which is labeled sdcard. Our sd card seems to be labeled external sdcard. If an app needs to install extra data, I want to know if there is way to get it to install to the external sdcard?

There is a couple workarounds for this situation. Easiest and best way I like to go at it is just download "gl to sd" from the market. Pretty simple directions, basically it allows you to dl your app then for all gameloft games like 9MM, MW3 etc..and even some other huge extra data games it lets you move the huge extra data download to your external sd card and play the games as normal. It You wont notice any difference in speed, graphics, etc... I've saved myself about 8-9gigs so far easily on internal sd. If your a heavy game player or even occosional but dont want to bother copying files back and forth etc.. Make sure you go with a 32gig ext sd card. My 16gig started filling up very quickly once I found this program .
Any questions with the app let me know, the instructions are a little vague, but if you read reviews ppl explain in detail in case any of it confuses you, but its really pretty easy.
Have fun!
I believe tibu has a batch operation that'll move to sd. Not sure if it move to internal or external tho.
Thanks this sounds promising.

Your storage settings is missing the category "misc". If you had that category it would tell you. Have you tried using a good file explorer like "Root Explorer" to examine the folders on your internal SD card? Possibly something in a hidden folder that you are not seeing.
Apps might say 2.43GB but the data they are using could be much larger. Such as gameloft games and GPS navigational apps.

I downloaded the Clean Master app based off a review on XDA Portal to cleanup unused items in The Note 2. I found that this app gives you a list of apps, in File Manager , that can be moved to your SD Card . I was able to move most of my large files to my SD Card . In settings internal phone storage became larger and ext storage reduced by the same amount. I also found several Youtube videos on this app . The app is for free in App Store .I found this app to be extremely helpful and a simple way to transfer apps to your SD Card .

Also this script is only compatible with TW roms you obviously are liable for any and all modifications you choose to do to your phone/OS, what works for me may not in fact work for you. GNII variants "should" have no issues with this method if instructions are followed and A TW rom is presently installed on said device. Questions are always best via pm, I do tend to be more active in the at&t/international sub forums.
Hello i´m from germany so my english isn´t so good and i hope you understand my problem. Since a few days i can´t update apps because i become a error report which says no more space but i have 2 GB internal memory free?. 2 or 3 days later i can´t install new apps too. I have the stock rom 4.2.2 with root, TWRP and Hacker Kernel. I hope you can help me.. I also tried to install a custom rom but i don´t find a rom that is better then stock and at custom rom my wifi can´t be enabled.
Help...
Nobody have an idea?
Google Play is only supposed to prevent you from downloading apps when you have 200MB of internal storage or fewer. However, I've seen this same problem at other random numbers like 400MB. Unfortunately, I've never seen the problem as high as 1.4 GB.
Although you aren't supposed to have this problem, you can definitely try freeing up space and seeing if the problem persists. If you have 3GB of free internal space and you still cannot download apps, there is a problem with Play. If the problem goes away, I would recommend buying an SD card where you can keep most of your data, and you will still be able to update your apps.

The only way to solve the problem you are having would be to isolate it. If you clear up some memory and apps start updating, you know that your phone has a limit of 2GB. In that case, always keep over 2GB free and try to move more data to SD. (I still don't understand how Whatsapp takes so much memory) If apps don't update after you clear the space, you know that Google Play isn't working the way its supposed to, and should probably contact support on their end.
Sorry I wasn't of too much help for you. Good luck!
