Hi all,
in 2 weeks I can choose a new phone and I am doubting between the S4 and HTC One. I have played with both phones and currently my preference is the HTC One and that would be my first HTC.
However I often read the update policy/support is not that good, would this a reason for you not to buy the One? Personally I don't want to root phones so I am dependent on these updates. Can HTC afford not to give proper support looking at their current position as company?
Interested in your opinion, thanks.
The HTC One will be supported. I wouldn't let that concern keep you from choosing the One.
Now, if Google announces a Nexus 5 at I/O....

The entire company (htc) is riding on this phone. They have already released the source. You can unlock this phone through htcdev. There is already an update and they have submitted it to carriers (it's not 4.2.2 but it shows us commitment).

There's already been 2 updates, and 4.2.2 is supposed to come out next month.

Just curious. I just received my one 64gb today directly from att. Is this considered the developer one? is it unlocked? I've been playing with it and I actually like it. Thinking of returning the galaxy s4 I got on Saturday that I've been trying out. Its nice that it allows you to upgrade/transfer info and things from other androids and even IOS.
Att One can be bootloader unlocked just like Dev. One if you wanna go that route...same phones otherwise
You can unlock but it is not considered the developer edition because it is still att. Updated will be faster on the developer edition if your running stock. And probably HTC will release more ruu files for it

FYI
I just called my local ATT and the HAVE the BLACK in STOCK.
Going over to check it out!!
Hi all, I have one hour to decide whether to buy One or not, but t-mobile locked version only. I need to know what's the latest version that t-mobile One has, 1.26? 1.27?
thanks

In the US, 1.27, afaik. That's what's on mine. I don't think anyone in the US has 1.29, though that's what's now available in some parts of the world.
Thanks. So, you believe 1.29 could come soon on worldwide T-Mobile One too?

1.29 is currently available in some countries. There are links here, or at least in the vanilla HTC One forum for RUUs available for 1.29 now, though what their compatibility is with the T-Mobile version of the phone is, I'm not sure.
Coming at it from a different angle, custom ROMs for the One can have Android 4.2.2 right now, but that means giving up Sense, if that matters to you.
I wouldn't want to root it right now, thanks for the info.
Of course I have to be out of luck.
At 8PM I entered T-mobile and asked a lady if they have HTC One, she said "Yes we do, LTE version.", I said "great", of course. Since they work till 9PM, I wanted to ask the above mentioned question here, before deciding whether to buy it or not.
Finally, about 8:45PM I decide to buy it. Headed straight to T-mobile again, said I wanted to renew my subscription and buy the HTC One. She brings me HTC One SV. After a few attempts to explain her the difference, she said "ahhh, that One! We don't have it, it didn't arrive yet and we don't know when will we get it!".
Turned around and headed home.
Good work HTC
Hi everybody!
I'm not new to flashing and Rooting Android devices but I'm new to TMobile-Warranty-Jump programs.
I want to know:
1) If I buy a HTC ONE with TMO USA, can I ROOT [Basically for Titanium BackUp] and in 6 months flash STOCK again and wont have problem when returning?
2) Does HTC have a "flash counter" or something that TMO can verify for Jump Program purposes?
Thanks in advance
No counter but you would have to make sure you go completely stock

I am good with a few corporate store reps, and they have heard nothing about rejecting modified phones. One even had me downgrade, s-off, and fully convert his htc one for him. I drink beers with these guys and girls often, so I am sure when / if they are trained more or hear something, I will know as well.

Thanks everyone for taking your time and reply.
I'm planning to get into the JUMP program soon and root... After 6 months I'll try to leave everything as Stock
I'm on Sprint and just got a notification for a new update this morning. I'm very weary about updates because of the experience with the HTC DNA and the whole mess that happened over there (fortunately avoided it).
Should it be fine to update for now or should I just hold off till I have time to SuperCID, s-off, and the whole shebang?
Also, was the whole issue with the HTC DNA that it was on Verizon and they're the ones that blocked development?
Btw, Currently on Software V1.16.651.2
I updated with no issues as long as you have stock recovery with no root

this update handles issues with sprint spark and enabling the use of the other freqs (800 mhz, the clearwire freqs...) and its recommended.
the update was waiting for me on launch day...
I'm just very cautious of updates after seeing a lot of people on the DNA practically get locked out.
well i cant speak for others but on launch day i picked this phone up and downloaded the update on the way home from the store. no problems after a week...
My wife's MyTouch 4G Slide has a dead microphone and is no longer available from T-mobile. This is one of the two approved replacement/upgrades from the phone insurance/warranty company. What do you like? What do you hate? What kind of problems do you have? The choice is between this and a samsung relay. Just looking for all the details before I pick a junk phone since I know nothing about either of these devices.

Although I love this phone, because of the camera and durability, I would recommend the Relay because of the better GPU and possibility of there being more stable custom roms for it available on the forums.
Custom roms are no concern. Neither is the gpu I don't think due to the fact that she uses her phone for the most basic functions. She loves her physical keyboard, but I know from 3 years of ownership that Samsung phones can be very frustrating. She's using my retired gs2 right now to see if she can deal with Samsung TouchWiz.
Thanks for all your input everybody. She has been using my old Samsung gs2 for a day now as a spare phone and proclaimed today via text that he hates it and also Samsung as a result. I went with the HTC since that's what she is used to in a smartphone ui.
