Ad Blocking not working - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I've tried both ad away and ad block plus. Neither stay active for more than a few hours. If the phone is automatically killing the tasks, how can I prevent that?

I've been experiencing this same issue, I would assume it's because, at least for me, I'm not rooted.

Apparently even though you're rooted, the system folder cannot be overwritten which is where the host file is located. I've noticed a few "root" apps don't work properly because of this. Not sure how to fix this......

How is this done? What happens when there is an update to the ROM? Will there be any data loss/feature loss when switching the kernel?

If you are rooted you can't get OTA's anyway. Look in the main HTC One forums, the kernels there have steps you can follow to install them.

since I installed this ROM:
Android Revolution HD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023
AdAway works great on my phone.

I know I can't get OTA's, but I meant just flashing an updated ROM. Also what does modifying kernels affect? Data loss? Feature loss? Please let me know. Most importantly I do not want to lose WiFi Calling.

Get the ROM I linked, you still get all the features of the stock ROM and way better performance and batterylife, and you still get WiFi Calling on the phone. I love the ROM and it has the camera and GPS fixes that T mobile hasn't given us yet.

yeap what he said. most of the international roms are bug free and lean as **** now. almost all of them have setups for ATT/TMO/international. (sorry sprint you got ****ed)
i'm on ordroid 4.2.0 and se7en kernel. and everything works fine. the nice thing about the international roms are they are rebased on the international 1.29 version of the rom that HTC has already pushed out. But since carriers love to push bloatware and test the roms to make sure they dont break the phones it will take a while before TMO or even ATT to have the 1.29 version of the roms out.

This has the kernel with system r/w? When flashing that ROM, do I have to reset my phone again? Or is it just like a system update? Not a big deal because I can backup my apps and whatnot...

The ROM comes with the new Kernel, you have to reset your phone though when coming from the stock ROM. All you need to do is flash the ROM off his thread and it contains everything you need, no need to flash anything else.

I also rooted my phone and opted to keep everything stock. But I knew I'd have to flash a new kernel, so I flashed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258352
So far, it's been fantastic, and WiFi calling still works! Some added features are menulogo, and swipe to wake up. This way I get to keep everything stock with all the added benefits of root.

7/26 MR4 Update -Mandatory?

According to http://www.droid-life.com/2010/07/1...feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+DroidLife+(droid+life) there will be an update to Eris phones. One thing I wonder about is they are calling this mandatory.
What happens if you don't install this? I know Verizon tracks who installs patches and I don't want to take chances losing root.
yeah I'm running EvilEris3.0 on my wife's Eris. I'm actually wanting to go back to the stock 2.1 cause shes not happy with how her phone is acting.....wondering if this will put it back to stock or HOW do I flash it back to the stock ROM?
any help with this would be thankful.
Ok lets not, panic. You need to read the entire thing, and point out that if you have MR3 then MR4 is mandatory but if you only have MR2 then it is only recommended meaning if your current rom has OTA working and you have MR 2 you will be able to ignore the update. If you have MR3 (MR being maintenance release) the update will be eventually be installed for you if you don't do it voluntarily. and you cannot get a replacement for any problems that this is suppose to address if you do not install it
Hey this shouldn't be a big deal. This same update was sent out sometime at the end of last month and those who were rooted were able to root back instantly. Even the 1.49 people. (Assuming you have luck with ADB recovery)
So it will just temporarily remove root?

And all we have to do is reflash recovery like we did the first time? That's not so hard.

I'll just wait for someone to run diffs on it vs the leak4rombase version and see what we can get from it.
Okay with this new root method and all I'm curious as to know if this MR4 is going to stop us from rooting this method. The old method wasn't stopped, but obviously not everyone can do that method.

WiFi not connected each morning:

Hello all.
I have searched this issue quite a bit, and I have some ideas, I just need a bit of direction.
So, I have a rooted Galaxy S2 running ICS version 4.0.3. I rooted it via Zedomax's youtube videos (I would link it, but youtube has closed his account FREE ZEDO!) Some mornings, when i wake up, I notice my WiFi is not connected and my phone is using 3G for its data. So, I go look in the WiFi list and it is on, but its not connected. I tap connect, nothing happens. It doesn't even try. I forget the network and re-enter the credentials, nothing. I reboot the phone, same thing. Finally, once i remove the battery a few times, it starts to work but not very well. I have a Netgear WNR2000V3 router. Just did a fresh upgrade/install of the latest firmware. All of my other wireless devices at home stay on and work fine. Now, i did notice that ever since i rooted when i first got my phone on version 2.3, i had WiFi issues. So my first thought is it could be my kernel? Like i said, this only happens at home. I also have the exact same router (WNR2000v3) for my staff WiFi at work and I have no trouble connecting each morning.
So, what are the steps i can take to fix this? Is this a known issues with the ATT SGS2? Am I missing something?
I would post a sreenshot of my phone info but since I'm a new user I won't be able to so here it is in text!

Any stock roms available?

I downloaded FreeGee and would like to uninstall it once the Jelly Bean update comes out due to lack of dev support, but I have discovered that there is no easy way to uninstall it unless I flash a stock rom back onto my phone (AT&T LG Optimus G). I cannot find any stock roms for the AT&T version, so I was wondering:
1) Are there any stock roms available for the AT&T LG Optimus G?
2) Does it matter if I use a stock rom from rogers or will that also mess up the updates?
3) If there are no stock roms available, does anybody know how to uninstall FreeGee?
Thanks.
You didn't see the stock ROM in the development section? Also that's why its good to make a backup of the stock rom before flashing any ROM.

I guess it all depends on how many developers you consider constitutes a "lack of" and how many = "good" support. Right now we know of three that have actually put something out, there are others working on stuff behind the scenes but how many remains to be seen. I have faith the support will come; however, if you were to survey people today, I'm reasonably certain most would call this a lack of support. Good things come to those who wait.

Indeed, common sense really. 1 rom in the dev section = lack of dev support. if a person can't see that, then they lack common sense.
ECF17. Ill answer your question. I see many comments above but no real answer.
There is not a stock Rom you can flash. the only Rom available is heavily modified.
What I did is went back to stock. Root, then unlock the bootloader, and deleted the apps I don't use. So I still have a ODEX Rom. Installed WiFi tether, Rom toolbox lets you easily remove the apps that you dont want (be careful) and also allows you to block ads.
Battery life is amazing. I unplugged at 6:30am and its 3:35 now and I'm at 67% and I've send over 20 emails today, dozens of text and over 1 hour screen on time.
I found that stock ODEX and debloated is the way to go. My sync is on. Facebook, gmail, box, dropbox.
The md5 mismatch was an issue I had also. The recovery that comes with the freegee. Unlock is flaky like that

[Q] Camera not working

Hi guys
I've been running custom ROMs on my DX since about February and I've tried almost all the ICS ROMs, Skydragon, MySense, Sense Revolution, etc. Currently I'm running Shadow and everything runs fine. However, my Camera has not been working ever since I first flashed a custom ROM. It just opens to a black screen and closes. I've tried all the different kernels to figure out the problem, but it works with none of them.
What is going on? any help would be appreciated.

I have a suspicion that it's kernel related, try flashing stock kernel with a sense ROM and see if that works. It may be that you have a kernel (a boot.img) running which causes your camera to not function.

But there is one thing, whenever I open titanium backup, it tells me my phone ID has been changed. And I can't restore it because that's only available in the pro version. Does that have anything to do with it?

I didn't. A while back, when I flashed a new ROM and opened Titanium to restore my apps, it popped up and said that it had been changed. I don't even know how to change it.
I've attached a screenshot of the message in titanium backup

Can someone help me with this please?
Did you try to return to stock and see if camera is working then?
What's the free space on your emmc and sdcard ?
Also, try a factory reset, not a full wipe, just data .

SD card- 5.16GB used out of 7.39 GB
Okay, will try that. What exactly will that wipe? So I know what to backup on titanium.
It will wipe all play store apps and their data.
