20j source is up - AT&T LG Optimus G

I'm sure the devs are on it, but this is exciting...
LG has finally released 20j source for the LGOG!
https://wws.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensourceList?types=ALL&search=e970
Maybe this is why all is quiet on the western front...

Oh yeah, I was hitting F5 like my life depended on it...

Hopefully we will see a rise in battery life on the roms now.
I've had a lot of mixed battery life results since going aosp and while I've finally gotten it usable I still haven't replicated 3 hours of screen on over 24 hours off battery.

My kernel stock kernel was released today based on this source. The source has been out for a couple days.
FYI to devs: the source tells you to use j1kt config. I've used it and that config is missing the lines for ext-sd and rear camera. I added the lines n all is good. In my 24hrs of testing nothing else seams missing or not working correctly. I just released my kernel so we will see

what ever makes a devs life easy is always good..... With that said i doubt HTC is going to drop source anytime soon. In no way shape or form am i saying that kernel source is not needed .
Well, it's live in AOSP now. I'm sure we'll see some JB love, and that will only get better once HTC does actually drop kernel source.
HTC released a lot of kernel source today in htcdev..even the one v source and all of.the one x source but the s4 version..I wonder if the one s source is close to our devices and if the devs could.work with that

I might of worded it wrong..all the one x versions but the s4 (att) versions have been released ..so its just us and them still waiting..its seems weird bc the one v was released after all of em..and the source has gotten larger ..its like 100mbs now ..

There are several dev teams working on some things as we type. It will come, it's just a matter of time...AOKP, CM9/10, stock JB.

Dude I waited like a year for Aosp roms on my vivid. No that phone rocks. Also on the motor defy I waited 6 months in 2k10. Now still to this day no other forum has more development going. This phone will have long term support. More than most at least. I really see this phone standing the test of time

why no support from devs?

Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk
It's on the way, bro. It takes a while to hack up a custom kernel without source of you're looking for JB.. Also, some folks are working on CM9/10. We will probably have some more custom ROM's (I hope) after the holidays. Patience.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, there has been talk of CM/AOSP ROMS in the works, non-stock based ROMS take a lot of time to make. We have one stock based (The Base), and it has been debloated and tweaked with custom settings. There isn't much else that could be done atm.
And don't forget, we JUST got team Nocturnal, and they have stated to have things in the works, they already posted a MOD.
This phone is pretty new, we have the debloated ROM, and the rest just takes time.

Stock based Rom quality

I really am happy with the roms for our device up to date. Its not just the powerful hardware that gets me. I have plenty of other devices. Aosp, sense, touchwiz, blur. Out of all of the available roms. I'm really digging these LG roms. The launcher. Q-slide. Its all very functional for me. Oh and the calculator especially.
I think even though I'm dying to try Aosp on this phone like every one else. I think at the end of the day ill still be rockin an LG based rom. I was wondering if anyone else is thinking like me?

I am also awaiting to see results of 4.3 additions to current rom projects.
But I personally think the LGOG design is much nicer than the N4, the N4 rounded top and bottom make it look like HTC wannabe and seems to add bulk to the phones.
If I had known about the Oppo Find 5 earlier, I would have gotten that instead since the lack of microSD, LTE and the terrible design on the N4 turned me off completely. So ended up with the LGOG for $49, at least the price was attractive since I already pay for the data plan.
FYI, the iPhone 4S is still $100 more at AT&T. And I see AT&T still has iPhone 4, guess Apple in their contract made AT&T buy far more phones than they were able to sell.
- I noticed some AT&T employees even had Windows 8 logo on their shirts, to promote the Nokia WP8 phones, with the shirt on, tried desperately to convince me to upgrade to the iPhone 4 .99 upgrade, not the 4S, not the 5. I found that very amusing.
Can't wait for 4.3 on our OG

It is 4.3 running on a stock JB LGOG. As nygfan760 said, any mako kernel will boot on the LGOG, as long as it is updated with the jellybean partitions, which is why the kernel version is identical. I am using it because an android 4.2.2 kernel will not boot android 4.3, caused by changes in the code base between the versions, such as SEAndroid support.
Kernel modifications will be needed for a fully working device. External sd card and physical touch buttons are the main things that would require a new kernel build, and will not be possible until source is released.
Well how about that? Son of a...
