People screwing their phones up, by not reading thoroughly and asking questions if they dont understand before flashing ****, and then getting VZW to exchange them is why the rest of us who have real problems that aren't caused by our tinkering end up getting screwed.
If you brick your phone flashing, or just generally screwing around with it, man up and figure out a way to fix it or get a new phine without comitting fraud.

Actually, if you do something to your phone that causes it to stop working and submit a warranty replacement request, it is fraud. There is a very, very slim chance to anything to your phone that bricks it if you leave it stock, and the only time you run that risk is during an OTA update really. To do it TWICE says the OP was doing something they didn't understand and caused a problem themselves. It's exactly the reason VZW and other carriers are locking bootloaders and making it harder to get them unlocked, because people keep damaging them themselves and submitting a warranty return.
Dude you work for verizon? If thats the case then the millions of people that bricked their phones are what u described in the post???? Get real man. we are with you not against you so stop seriously.

First off check the tude. Imnuts and many others are the reason we have root and abilities to do things on our phones. Show a little respect, please.
And really if someone tries to root it, it is a violation of the agreement one agrees. It voids the warranty and TOS agreement. So it is fraud to return it for that reason. And finally if one tries it once and bricks mistakes happen, But twice, one should evaluate if they should be tinkering with the phones this way.
With that said I have the 4.1.2 bone stock Note 2. Check my signature for the link I just used Casual and it rooted and unlocked in 4 mins.

No one is being a hypocrite. I have never bricked my phone because I busted my ass reading and asking questions if I couldn't find any answers to my questions when I was a newb. I have always recieved help when I needed it and even when I didnt, the problem is this kid has bricked 2 phones by doing **** he clearly doesnt understand instead of asking questions first.
He is the reason we are all getting screwed with replacement phones and prices, and yes it is insurance fraud. The contract covers certain things but bootloader unlocking and bricking is not one, you can root and you'll still be covered but there is very little you can do to kill a phone with just root.
I do like that youre trying to defend your point but there is no need for name calling in this, if you want to have a discussion have one without calling people hypocrites or acting rude in your follow up. Also there is a very fine line between newb and fraudster which the OP crossed.
Also if you have been here long I dont know how you jave missed all the threads about people committing fraud just like this kid, thats why the majority of the community have such short patience, or in some cases tempers, with the fraudsters.

Who knows... Maybe now that the cat is out of the bag our African Canadian Sock Monkey friend will throw us a bootloader anyway. Just to reduce the risk factor.
I hate to beat a dead horse, but the current method is pretty easy and even comes with a step by step video. If you don't feel comfortable doing it you could pay a local tech to do it for you.

I understand not wanting to mess it up. Only one case that I have read of a truly messed up phone (couldn't make calls) but it was resolved and was never directly tied to the unlocking process. Area read read and then execute. If you pay attention it'll be fine . don't let any issues people are having scare you. If you pay attention it'll work out great.

yes, true story. the instructions are VERY straight forward, very step-by-step. You CANNOT mess up your phone. If you're unsure of any step or instruction, just re-read the process or rewind the youtube video.
I have to say when it comes to unlocking the one button unroot methods have caused more issues than benefits. I only say that because it made it so easy for people to really wreck their phones once they were unlocked/rooted and not really understanding the risks and what it took to get to that point.
That said of course it took me many, many times of reading through the posts, asking questions and getting help along the way. But in the end I was grateful to have know what I was doing, the risks of wrecking my $700 phone and also the true ease of restoring to stock and starting over, again and again and again until I got it right.
Adam's guide is very helpful and watching his video (although it has changed rapidly for the better) which is likely well out of step with the new method still gives you an appreciation of what it took for these devs to put forth our method of defeating the Big Red. Go for it, its not so bad.

I have tried both of creppy's roots and one of the galaxys2root.com roots also (i know you people dont approve of the site), and some random forth root. So I dont know what else to look for.
The Phone: the turn on animation still say it is a GT-I9100 even though it is running of the right stock ROM (idc about this thought it might mean something). Every time i download creppy's roots after i press the droid it either freaks out or say it cant find gapps even though i still have gapps.
So you can either criticize me or help me I dont care. I just dont have any clue where to go from here. All i can do is to turn to people who know more.

I agree completely, send it off and have it JTAG'd. Turn around time is real quick. Having an unlocked phone is that important to me too so before I buy a phone I do my research and know exactly what I'm getting into. You got lucky with the DNA though because of it having the ability to be unlocked via JTAG. I definitely recommend proceeding it's an amazing phone.
The reason that you're getting a hard time is because a quick google search, site search, or reading through one of the many threads you mentioned seeing would have answered your question. It's nothing personal, and the good thing is that people are quite forgiving around here.

What you should have done in the first place, instead of asking for a replacement and conspiring to commit fraud, is flashed the phone back to stock via Odin. This is why Verizon locks the bootloaders, people mess their phone up BY NOT READING and expect the carpet to replace it instead of owning up to their mistake.
Since you haven't been reading here is a link to droidstyles guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207
Section 1b explains what you need to do. After you fix the phone, which is very easy, *you* need to read the WHOLE GUIDE at least once before you do ANYTHING to your new phone. If you have any questions about anything ask the community.
Next time read before you do ANYTHING! If you mess your phone up, by flashing a ROM or tweaking with it in some way, grow up and accept responsibility for screwing it up and either fix it yourself if it's soft bricked or have it JTAGed (by the guys at http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/) if it's hard bricked. Don't commit fraud by forcing Verizon to pay for your **** ups, the community does not appreciate that because *WE* end up paying for people committing fraud.

The problem isn't that you made this post. If you had made this post upon first realizing you had flashed the incorrect rom you wouldnt have had to contact Verizon at all. The problem is you ARE committing fraud. The $100 or $200 you paid to replace your phone is subsidized by the warranty/phone insurance which is void if you have tampered with the phone's software, or are the direct cause of any damage caused to it I believe. Your mistakes affect everyone on Verizon. XDA is founded on the sharing of knowledge. Dont bash someone for tough love and A DIRECT LINK to exactly what help you need.

You have been given the link to Droidstyle's guide by shangrila. All the info has been provided to you. If you can't follow directions to fix it, that's your own fault. Droidstyle's guide is written extremely well so you can't blame it on anyone but yourself. So when you can't fix it and you get charged for the phone, I'm pretty sure you will blame this community for not helping but no one will care. Have fun
Similar incident happened to my GN2 (Casual crashed my phone). Read droidstyles guide, and was up and running.

exactly my point when I said calling the kettle black...
a mature individual would man up and pay the piper for his mistakes....instead of committing fraud for a simple mistake that could of been easily fixed by following stickies in this forum. a warranty claim is there for when a device fails mechanically or at the hardware level...its not there for incompetent users who cant follow directions. again this goes back to my post why verizon and other carriers are locking bootloaders. the yellow triangle is there to let verizon know you are a noob that tried hacking the device unsuccessfully.

OK, upon rereading I see the guy screwed up his phone by flashing the wrong rom. He either irresponsibly didn't read up enough or irresponsibly ignored warnings to only flash roms made for your model.

Yes and then he doesn't bother to try and fix it, he called a Verizon and got them to send him a new phone by playing the "I don't know what happened but now it is bootlooping" card instead of owning up and fixing his **** up. That is fraud, why we pay such a premium price, and why they're locking our bootloaders.

Ok........ for all the know it alls. I wasnt returning for a software issue. I was returning for another because my child broke off a piece of the headphone jack in the port. that was my error, it's an insurance situation not warranty. I have another I bought at full price and I do have more than one that I flashed I just never ran into the triangle. Everybody is so concerned about committing fraud when ppl already committed fraud by unlocking their phone flash back to stock rom and sending it back for warranty. I never committed fraud because I still have the phone. I spent my money. I came here for help. Not for people to be condescending. I own up to my fault. I appreciate the help. For all the mature people.

Thats a cop out...if this was the case you would of mentioned in the first few posts, not after being put on blast for fraud.
Its not fraud to mod your phone, all that does is void the warranty. Putting it back to stock and sending it back is far from fraud as the device was returned as recieved. However bricking a device because you do not know what you are doing and then calling verizon for a warranty replacement is fraud...Nice try
I see on the xda Verizon S6 forum that they found a way to root Lollipop. So maybe there is hope for those who took the OTA Lollipop on their S4.
At the end of the day, for all of you who wish you still had root, taking the update was a rookie mistake

Understatement of the year
happens every time there is a OTA the noobs jump the gun and end up getting locked out
Or they screw up, brick, and we have to listen to their whines about how it isn't working and they didn't bother to read and figure it out because the threads are too long, or they just don't bother. I'm no expert, but SO sick of reading those posts.

no we are not all here to "learn" that is NOT what XDA is for
There is a difference between asking noob questions and sheer refusal to even try to learn or do research.

HELP I bork my phone ..
where is dl how install ?
I'm not in a position to make a call on whether or not they tried hard enough to not ask. We weren't all born with the same deck. The Tab S forums are much less forgiving of the noobertons, probably because the user base is different than that of 2 year old phone that is marketed to women.
The thing that bugs me is all the complaining from the people who got impulsive went back to stock in order to take the ota. They just couldn't be patient and wait for the devs to figure it out. It's disrespectful of the devs' achievements and diverts their time away from more important projects like unlocking the bl and getting xposed working again

Totally agree. I usually wait on OTA's to make sure it won't jack up the phone. Since I've been rooting, it's for what you said, waiting for the developers to work their magic. I'd much rather have them work on "enhancements" and advancements instead of fixes for the impatient people.

I'm the OP. I do have Lollipop rooted using Muniz_ri method. I just posted this to inform those who took the OTA that there may be hope.
Why do you have spit on the people who made a mistake. Lol. It's not bad enough they are stuck without root but you have kick them while there down as well. I know people tell you not to do that all the time but you don't need to sh*t on them.
Everyone in here please play nicely in the sandbox.....

I don't have to worry since I generally have a ROM 99% of the time unless I brick my phone or I have to restore from a corrupt install.. I saw a few friends take the update, but they don't care too much about rooting and whatnot.
Can someone tell me why none of these comments has anything to do with the thread???!!!! I do not believe is says BASH THE NOOBIES!!! Come on people don't take XDA where it doesn't deserve to be! Thank you and have a beautiful day everyone
