[Q] No 4G - rooted/S-OFF DNA (Verizon) - HTC Droid DNA

Hi everyone,
I bought a DNA off of Ebay that was rooted and has S-OFF.
In the settings in all of the ROMS, I've tried Global and LTE/CDMA with no luck.
It will not connect to Verizon 4G. It does connect to 3G. I have tried multiple ROMs, a new SIM card, and I've flashed multiple radios.
I have a stock DNA also, and if I put the SIM card in that phone, it locks onto 4G right away.
Before I reach out to the seller to do a return...does anyone have any suggestions on anything I'm missing?
Thank you!
-Josh

This probably won't work but try dialing #22899 and hit call.

im not an expert, but maybe you need to check the settings in the custom rom? i've had issue of the radio switching to just 3g before, and had to manually change it back. idk. maybe flashing new radio or reflashing RUU? not sure, sorry

Not to be the pessimist, but maybe that's why the seller was selling the DNA.

download lte on off and see what it lists in there. I know on my rezound when I run neo aosp ROM and I select lte/CDMA . it will be listed under lte on off as its on gsm/CDMA. so try that app as it might be as simple as changing it to CDMA/lte.

I would suggest you to RUU it then do a factory reset from settings. Be sure you have stock recovery installed when factory resetting. I had a similar issue and it worked for me.

Thank you for the suggestion. I think this will be my next course of action.

Great news...doing a full restore to factory stock brought 4G back to life. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

real REAL stupid move. i am so smart, SMRT

so i installed cm10. had it running awesome. but because of the way i am i wanted more power so i tried Faux cm9 kernel right thinking jb is just an upgrade to ics. WRONG. so now i have no wifi, i just get an error. my phone thinks my sim card is from Rogers when it should be bell. i tried to restore an old neutrino backup but still no go. i installed a new radio. i even restored the phone back to ofra234 but still no go. i am back to my old neutrino backup with my signal saying rogers with no wifi.
i tried the sim card on my backup wildfire thinking it was fakaked because at one point i say invalid sim but it worked fine.
i flashed a radio through fastboot but did not seem to do anything. have no idea where to find the proper image file.
i tried adding apn settings but they would not save. in the past i remembered MCC: 302 MNC: 610 fields where populated be default but they are also blank.
the radio i have on there now is N_01.07.05P

Go to network operator in JB or CM9 and it will show service providers like I have att and T-Mobile and I can choose either one but only att will work because I have an att sim. Its in more in settings under mobile network

Try full wipe and reflash rom, or flash sbf file for the last chance.

Try a Bell fruitcake before sbf, but my guess is you will have to sbf. Good luck!
ran the BELL_FR_2.2.2 zip to revert back to complete stock then ran the BELL IHOP sbf but still no go. i am thinking its a hardware issue at this point.
Yeah, might be hardware. Did your phone get hot? I know some of the early CM9 alphas with OC kernels cooked a few wifi and bluetooth radios.
This probably won't help, but what about doing a fruitcake or sbf with the sim card removed?

hey upndwn4par.
yes i cooked it a few times thats for sure. i tried flashing the sbf with no sim but still no go. i think shes done. i'm gonna try and send it in for warranty and see if they will cover it. i hate to get a new phone. this phone has been so much fun and the 4 inch screen size with dual core is the bomb. screens these days are stupid big.
thanks for ur suggestions upndwn4par.
Hopefully moto allows a warranty claim. If you still want an Atrix, you can find them on eBay and Amazon.
I agree that the Atrix is a great size. Many phones these days look like small tablets.

There is a stock Bell 2.3.6 sbf in the dev forum, try that.

[Q] Mobile Network issues

When I first got my phone I had no problems with getting an almost constant 4g signal everywhere around my house (right outside Philly) and school (right outside Rochester) and it stayed that way up until about mid June. Now my phone does some odd things depending on the radio that it on. On the 1.02.605.6 radios, it seems like 4g cuts in and out, but isn't there most of the time, on the 2.01.605.11 radios, I have no problem getting a 4g signal, however after using anywhere between 5MB and 250MB of data, it will completely disconnect from all radios, and I have to turn mobile network off and back on again to reconnect. I can turn it off and on about 10 or 15 times before it stops working completely and I have to restart the phone. On the 3.11.605.22 radios, I never see a 4g signal, no matter what I do or where I am I cannot get these radios to connect to 4g at all. I have tried different combinations of radios, hboots, and custom/stock roms with no luck. At first I assumed it might be my back cover of the phone because I swap batteries instead of charging my phone and the back wasn't fitting as snug as it did when I first purchased the phone, but I have since purchased a new back and the issue still remains. The last thing that I can think of that it could possibly be is the sim card, but could it be the sim card if I connect to 4g with no problem on the 2.xx radio? Has anyone ever experienced any issues like this before? Does anyone else have any suggestions that I could try? Any help is greatly appreciated.

To add to this you need the stock recovery in order for the factory reset to work

This was going to be my next question, as I vaguely remember trying to do a factory reset from the bootloader on my inc and needing to reflash the stock recovery before I did.
Also, is doing a factory reset from hboot much different from using the RUU? I mean I know when you do the factory reset everything is not reflashed, but is it possible that if flashing the RUU did not fix my problem, that a factory reset possibly could? I am going to try it either way because I want this to work properly and I really appreciate the input from everyone.

Thats okay, all information is appreciated. I am thinking that it may be a problem with my phone specifically, because my dad has the same phone, and we are currently in the same Hotel room in Boston, and he is getting a decent 4g signal and I am not getting one at all.

How to get back to Verizon from Page Plus?

Hi XDAers,
Please help! I sold a my Rezound (which was flashed to Page Plus) to a pal using Verizon.
According to my old experience (3G phones), the phone should be able to be activated and programmed without any manual setting.
But the phone is not able to voice or text; the data works fine with the SIM card. It can't even dial out the activation number *228.
Does Verizon change the way to program the LTE phones? What I can to to resolve the problem?
Your help will be appreciated!!!
*228 doesn't do anything for LTE phones, so that's not the issue. I would guess you need to flash an RUU though I'm not certain. Better wait for someone who has more experience to clear that up for you.
RUU will restore it back to VZW specs. Pop in your 4G sim and you are good to go.
Thank you for the suggestions. Will try and report the result later. Thanks

[Q] Lost 4g but still have 3g. Need some help!!

I lost 4g a few days ago but now have 3g. I flashed many different roms and still can't get 4g back. I downloaded an app to try to fix it (4g toggle). It made 4g reappear but can't do anything on it. I believe it's a rom that did that. I played around with the sense rom 5 roms that were available. It could be one of those that did it. Not sure. I flashed and unflashed many kernels but still nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix? Also, it's not the sim card because 4g appears in the Galaxy Nexus as my backup. Thank you.

You may need to flash RUU. I have had this issue before while testing different roms. Once on the ruu, you should get 4G back.

I tried that but no luck. I'm going to see if I can get a new sim card just to see if by some mystery this works. I can't see how it works on a Nexus with 4g but not the device. That sounds like something weird.
This happened to me on my old phone and I called verizon and asked them to do a dmu reset and then it came back.
Try that and hopefully it may work otherwise get a new sim card.

Remember that HSDPA is not 4G but a very accelerated 3G data network. That may be why your Nexus show's HSDPA but your DNA will not register 4G. LTE is 700 while HSDPA is a more broader spectrum. Are you using a TMO Sim or a Verizon Sim?

I'm using a Verizon Sim. I will call them first and have them do a DMU reset for me. If that doesn't work then I'll get a new sim card. Thank for all your help folks. I'll let you all know which one worked.

Make sure you aren't setting you preferred network with the 4G toggle to LTE only. It would need to be LTE/CDMA or LTE+cdma+evdo

[Q] Htc Droid Dna, switch to At&t cant get data to work for nothing! PLEASE HELP

Hey there everyone, I have been researching the site day and night for almost a week since I got my brand new at&t go phone SIM card.. I have tried every configuration of apns that there is, I have tried the wap Cingular and about ten million other combinations with no success what do ever.. they haven't changed any thing I get fu service and I am in a hspa+ area .. but my mobile settings on my DNA still say disconnected because the service is not available... Please someone help its racking my head... Thanks
Are you stock? Running a custom Rom? Do you have the CDMA/GSM/WCDMA/LTE (OR "Global" option if on stock) option checked? If you are on CDMA/LTE, that may be your issue.

Not sure if this is relevant to you, but some of us (myself included) on here have lost service/data after flashing a custom rom. The only way to fix is to RUU back to stock.

have tried another sim card? had them deactivate your current one and wait 24 hours and re activate the card. just setting to global mode and putting in the sdim should do you but question is this a new plan or are you changing device from one 4g to the dna if so it can take up to 24 hours for the dna to pickup and work dont ask why i had this issue 3 times with vzw myself switching from backup phone to my new dna phone
