Hello guys, I'm having a very weird issue with the 4.2.1 stock firmware (it only has root).
My phone boots up normally, but after a couple of hours or even a day, by some reason the background image gets screwed up on the top it like you can check on the images and also my battery starts to drain (it shows up huge consumption on "Android OS"). After the graphic issue the only temporary solution is a reboot... any ideas? I've flashed the rom twice and it keeps coming back... can this be a software (app) related problem? Or do you think it is a bug from the actual rom since it is still a leak?
Tks
that's a known bug in the leak
damn it... I was thinking that it was but couldn't find it on google or XDA...
you mean both things right? drain + graphical issue?
tks for your reply!
Better to wait for the officia 4.2.1update from Samsung,
OR there will be ANDROID 4.3 with CM10.2.. vote for GSIII

I love JB, it's beautiful, I wish I could keep it. But I hate the battery life, and I froze everything possible with Titanium, I turned off everything I could, I used Power Saver, and I still watched the battery die before my eyes. ICS was just so much better with battery life. I'll go ahead and wait, maybe someday an update will fix whatever it is. I did "fix" the media scanning thing too, and that didn't help, BTW.
So, I've flashed root69.stock_ATT_I747UCALG1 and I have the OTA update I747UCALH9_OTA. Wasn't there a later update? What was the latest stable ICS version released before JB?

Did you do a factory reset after your JB upgrade? The battery life only very slightly worse than ICS. An app is probably eating up your battery.

Use Betterbattery stats or Gsam Battery Monitor to see what is using the battery or keeping the phone awake.
With out more information people will just be guessing
No its not just you.Theres been several threads about this since its release.
You can revert back to 4.0.3 which will cure that problem.
No need to search,or post in the LS8 thread,or muck around with BBS etc.
"noob ok...lazy noob not ok"
Well, who knows? Maybe search first, because this topic has been discussed way too many times by now.

so....
so what you are saying is that, this is a REAL ISSUE and that samsung must release a fix for this, right???
is this a real posibility , like would Samsung ever consider to realease a FIX for this, did they ever do it in the past in a similar case?
or maybe if were lucky in a year or 2 they will, by then...
No it means some people are having worse battery life then on ICS but I have better batter life than on ICS if you read the other threads about the same topic over the last few days you might see something that helps you improve the battery life. Or install battery stats and see what is using the battery
we...?
Should i Flash back to ICS 4.0.3 with ODIN???

Hello and please let me give my personal experience.
I think it is a matter of modem.
It depends on country/carrier.
I had the same problem exactly, I flashed a XXLQ6 modem [even though it is for 4.0.4 firmware - I don't know if I did something dangerous for my phone, I am a newbie], signal is much better and battery lasts longer.
3G - H - H+ : smooth and stable internet browsing with the new modem.
My country is Greece . Carrier is COSMOTE. Stock Samsung XXLS8 firmware. PhilZ-cwm6 - Safe Stock Based Kernel v4.00-b39 from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
I hope I was helpful with my 1st post here.
Yes the modem is one of the possible problems you can have and flashing a modem that works better for your area is the best option if the stock one does not work well as you have done.
The OP says nothing is using his battery but yet the battery goes flat so it is not possible to help with that as something is draining the battery else it would not go flat unless the battery is faulty but then it would not last for any ROM.
I use XXLQ6 modem as well
Congrats on the 1st post...
just turn off Google Now and Google localization. it should increase your battery life.
I had drain went to millitant rom, now my battery is better then ics

Not much difference
Phone is little fast and smooth.
new update
after the update the phone has become smooth & fast...+ the wallpaper bug in lockscreen ripple effect is rectified we can now change the image even in ripple effect lock screen
How "smooth" is it? Like RAM improvement?

my refrence for smooth means in sense of app opening & multi tasking the new update is fast when compared to last update for our device....
and ram usage is somewhere between 632 - 820mb for me after the new update when compared to last update it was some where around 820- 1gb
Has the battery life improved? I average around 0.4 watts per hour on the NH3 ROM which is what I used to get on Jellybean.

Try a DedS kernel. Sometimes, it fixes Wi-Fi, and ruins it at others.
For AnTuTu, try three times and take the average. The benchmark may not be accurate, that's it.

I flashed v2.0, but still having the same issue, and tbh I don't feel great difference in smoothness! Just about 20-30 extra MBs in ram that I rarely notice.
I've made a new version of the 70°,75° and 80° thermal mods which I'm hoping will improve battery life without sacrificing performance at all. If you've been running any my original thermal mods and would like to test out the new versions and give me your feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rob
Just head on over to my original CTT thread to download it
Here's the link to the original thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/thermal-mod-t2907363
Also I just added a new beta 3 version of the 75° mod here's the link

Looks that way. I've only been up since 1 when I woke up with the idea and started working on it I'm really hoping for some good results
Gonna try this!
Later though... planning on doing a total wipe and start from scratch.
It booted up no problem. First boot was no too long, a little less than flashing a ROM. I'm at 100% battery, going to see what happens throughout the day.
Suscribed to the thread !
So the purpose of this new release is battery saving ?

Battery saving would be awesome !
I know this was build for stock roms but I flashed it on cm12.1 and it seems to be working fine. Is there a reason it wouldn't work on cm12.1 or if I can check to see if it is working? Thanks
Perhaps it's just the excitement of the new mod, but I feel as though there is a reduction of heat being produced by the device. Has anyone else noticed this?
Got it installed. What specifically do you want feedback on?
I imagine I won't have a feel for the battery difference for a couple days. Anything else?

To check to see if it's working you can download 3c toolbox formally known as android tuner and under CPU you can see the temp and see if it throttles down at the correct temperature and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work with cm12
Please let me know if it works and how well so I can post it in the op
In CM 11 and stock(not in cm10.1 and 12/13) something really weird happens.
When the battery indicator shows lower than 20,phone starts killing apps and ghost touch starts.
Its like someone randomly touching the screen
So,I enabled touch pointer to see where actually it happens.
It was at down left corner of the phone.
N.B : Nothings wrong with the hardware.
Rotation(0' vertical)
Happens only on cm11 and stock.
Not related with kernel(stock and r10)
Happens on low battery only.
Sir, @LahKeda @corphish
Any ideas?
I faced the issues too.
And I dont really know its cause.
Seeing it happens only in stock and CM-11 and not in cm-12,13, surely tells its a software issue.
Maybe it is caused by blobs, lots of unused blobs were removed in cm-12.1 and 13 eventually, so maybe that's why...

The main reason for ghost touch arises due to the charger, I fixed my issue in star using new charger(and wen I say new means not the cheap Chinese one)
Also make sure socket is propperly working:silly: I mean its outlet is normal:laugh:
