[Q] Camera Click? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I recently replaced my broken dev edition (camera was broken- it rattled whenever the phone vibrated) with a T-Mobile edition. I am on complete stock and have not yet unlocked the bootloader. Ive noticed that the camera clicks whenever I launch an app that uses it. Sometimes its a very soft click, and other times its a extremely loud clock, kind of like a snapping noise. I did not see this issue on my dev edition, so I am not entirely sure whether it should be there and because my camera was broken before I didnt hear it, or if I got another faulty device. Does anyone else hear/notice this on their device? Is it maybe fixed in later firmware versions, and only and issue on 1.27.x roms? Thanks in advance.

I believe this is normal it happens to me too on both of my H1's and also my old sensation. It's like the camera sensor is adjusting once some app gains access to it

Alright cool thanks! I was just unsure since my first one didnt have it, but that camera was broken. Wanted to be sure before I unlocked and started flashing, in case I need to replace it again, which would have made me very unhappy.

Mine is very quiet all the time though. I'd say don't worry, but I'm not sure why yours might be inconsistent in the volume?

Interesting. Mine consistently varies in volume.

Hi!
My camera does make the a sound every time I open an camera app, too. However, stock camera app doesn't make the sound as loud, and sometimes there's no click sound when opening stock camera app. Every time I open LineCamera, though, the camera makes a very noticeable click sound.

It's the OIS

Ok guys. I am noticing that when the device vibrates when I am getting a call I can hear the camera rattling on this device as well. It does not rattle all the time like the previous one did. Does anyone else notice this? I can both see and hear the camera rattle.

NFC Noise?

To be honest I'm not even sure it's a noise being produced by the NFC feature, but a post on Androidforums mentioned a noise similar to the one I'm experiencing and suggested it maybe due to the NFC feature of the S3.
Basically whenever I move my device up and down, or out of my pocket and place it on a desk or table, it makes a large "blip" like noise. It drives me absolutely mad, especially when attempting to use the device while golfing or bike riding, constantly blipping in my ear.
Can anyone else confirm this noise so I know I'm not crazy? Even better, could someone inform me how to disable this?
Thank you.

No rom, unfortunately (VZW) but one of the first things I did was disable S-Voice when I first received my S3 over a week ago.

It's definitely a system based sound. It almost sounds like a loud teardrop...

Disabled s-voice? Aww.. mess with it. If you tell it you want to die, it suggests talking to another. Say the word "******" and it chastises you. Ask it if it has a soul and it gets existential on you. There are other ways to mess with it. Have some fun.

[Q] Blurry Camera

So I don't know when this issue started, but my camera tends to be blurry. A LOT. I've noticed the issue usually occurs when trying to take a picture/video in low-light conditions. Trying to focus it doesn't help at all. The only thing that seems to (temporarily) fix it is to get out of the camera app, kill the camera via task manager, and start the app again. I think the problem lies within the actual phone, since it occurs on all ROMs, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think.? Have any of you guys experienced this problem as well.?

Seen this same issue on mine and wifes phone. Me meanbean 1.4, her rooted stock ics. Both ours will correct itself just by backing out of the camera and clicking it again. but yes, low light is when it happens.

My phone has a hard time staying focused. I will tap the screen to get it to focus, but I find myself holding my breath trying to be still as possible and I'll still get a slightly blurry pic. And also issues with the sharpness.
But I don't know how to root a phone or do all the stuff that people talk about on this forum site. Is there anything else I can do, or would the ppl at the actual Sprint store know how to get the camera to take better pics without me having to go in and change a bunch of settings every time?
Any help/suggestions would be reallllly appreciated

All of my phones do that when the camera is turned on. (DX, S4, Nexus 4, HTC one, Old Desire)
It's interesting as an app a friend made "didn't use the camera" but I could hear that destinctive 'tick' noise! Shady!

If you shake the old Desire (bravo) you can hear that noise, it is a moving part afaik in the camera hardware. My old one always did it and I never had an issue. It's how you know the camera is actually activating. I wouldn't imagine it is an issue, and as I said nearly all my android devices do the same thing! I wouldn't worry.

now I can die peacefully
I believe that is actually the camera sensor autofocusing, you can actually see it. Open the camera app, turn the phone and take a good look at the camera, you can see it basically "jumping".

Camera WONT focus..

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issues? My phone is brand new and has never been dropped. It's like the camera will NEVER focus for taking pictures. It makes the sound like it's focusing but still stays blurry no matter zoomed or not.
Any ideas or suggestions?

That didn't fix anything for me. I finally e-mailed HTC and this was their response which also did not fix anything.
Safe Mode
1. Please turn off the phone.
2. Then briefly press the Power button to turn on the phone.
3. While the phone powers on, press and hold the Volume down button until phone loads the OS and "Safe Mode" should appear on the lower left part of the screen.
After you put it in safe mode, try using your phone, if it works perfectly, then the problem may be caused by an application your phone. Which you will need to remove the applications one by one to see which one is causing the issue. If the issue persists, please reply to this email so we can further troubleshoot and have this issue solved.
All I know is I'm about ready to sell/return this HTC One and go get the Galaxy S4. My S3 treated me fine and the camera was far superior.
Was told it's a software issue and the update isn't expected for at least a month. So until then I have a $600 phone with a useless camera. Returning this and going to the S4. Not sure why I doubted it when I loved my S3. Figured I would give HTC a try again from my Sensation 4G days but what a waste of time. I can say the build quality of the phone along with the screen were definitely the things that attracted me.
What about an exchange, since you just got it? Did you get it in store? If so .. you could test out the one they exchange it for while at the store. Mine works awesome, and many others are very happy with theirs. So it sounds like you got a lemon camera. And we all know there are some bad ones in all the phone models.

True. I actually returned it and went with the S4. I'll give HTC another shot once their next big phone comes out. I did find myself missing a bigger screen also. It may be lacking a few PPI compared to the One but it's just as nice. Thanks for the kind words guys.

I see that you already returned the One. But I do not see how it could have been a software issue. If you were stock, you should have had build 1.27.531!8. I have that build and my focus works fine. Sounds like you should have exchanged it because it was clearly defective. Too late now, though.

In my phone this strongly correlates with heat. Once the phone gets hot from being at high brightness or doing something graphically intensive it will not focus. Sometimes you can get it to work by giving it a sharp slap or pressing gently on the glass in front of the camera. If you let it cool down for a few minutes then it works. But it is definitely a physical problem.
I'm having the same issues. My first HTC One was fine but had a power issue so it was replaced with this one that will now not focus. I contacted HTC and T-Mobile and was told that there would be a software update in the future to fix the issue but there are no specified dates. I asked T-Mobile if they could exchange it since it's only 2 months old and was told I would have to wait on an upgrade or purchase at full price. I'm really not pleased about any of this.

[Q] Top Speaker Noticeably Quieter Than Bottom Speaker

Hey guys...So I've searched the forums and the interwebs trying to find if anyone else has this issue, but the top speaker on my HTC One is significantly quieter than the lower speaker. It also is super quiet when talking on the phone, as in I have to be in a quiet room and the phone forcibly pressed against my ear in the right place for me to hear anyone. This happens across different ROMs leading me to believe it's a hardware issue, but I was just curious if anyone else has encountered this and found a fix?
Have the same experience. No clue if it's normal or not. Doesn't seem to be too huge of a deal when held from a distance.
True, but the phone call quietness is what kills me.

I have also noticed this, although for me it doesn't affect the volume of my calls that significantly, so I don't know if mine is just not as bad as yours, or what. But yeah, it's weird. Kinda defeats the purpose of the whole "stereo speaker" thing...
