This unlocks your bootloader and makes it possible to flash FTF kernels trough flashtool, however fastboot is still impossible. Now I need you awesome developers to convert more kernel files to ftf files. Who is up for it? Here is a really rough guide of Loopy of how to convert kernels to a ftf file.
LoOpy! said:
Figure it out yet?
I'll get a guide up soon. Well...rough one now.
wedgess's kernels = uploading atm...
When I was at the same point you currently are at, I wasted a few hours with the kitchen trying to split the *.img, just didn't output the the ramdisk.gz; since it tried to extract it. "...cpio: command not found" Maybe you will have luck?
Here's a quick guide what I'm currently doing to extract & make.
Follow this to set up Cygwin and get bootimg-tools.zip
When you get to "Select Packages", during Cygwin install, just type in perl, expand the perl section and select the radio button corresponding to B
Extract contents of bootimg-tools.zip to C:\ximg\
Replace split_bootimg.pl with the one I attached to post.(Will change output of the split img: kernel as image and ramdisk.gz as ramdisk, needed for the convert to FTF)
Copy the kernel to C:\ximg\ and rename to boot.img (or just boot, if you don't see the .img extention)
Open Cygwin terminal and enter cd /cygdrive/c/ximg/
if you wanna see contents of the location, type in ls, and you should see all the extract bootimg files + boot.img,
Extract boot.img by entering ./extractboot boot.img (in the ximg folder you should now see image and ramdisk
Grab the SINTools from the attachments and extract folder, it was originally part of the-laser's post here(just edited the build cmd to generate r800 kernel.sin's)
Copy the image and ramdisk from the ximg folder over into the SinTools folder, run the r800_build.cmd, you should now have kernel.sin made.
In the SINTools folder I threw an empty kernel.FTF w/ r800 loader, open it with winrar or w/ extractor tool you use and drag and drop the kernel.sin into the opened FTF, you can also edit the manifest if you want.
Flashtool time
DONE!
Good luck
Guess I will copypasta to thread after I format it a bit. Yay kernels done uploading too.

And here is his detailed guide of how to unlock your bootloader.
LoOpy! said:
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKING YOUR PHONE, or anything for that matter.
Tested 2x R800a. Please let me know if it doesn't work on your device!
THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE!
So you have a R800 that can't be unlocked officially i.e:
Code:
Bootloader unlock Status: [B]No[/B]
:crying:
What this means is that while we can get the device's bootloader unlocked(TP method), it will not enable fastboot access.
So we lack the ability to flash kernels, in .img formats...but why not just make a FTF packed kernel, which we can flash through flashmode?
I'm actually not sure to tell you the truth(*insert conspiracies*), but that was the solution this whole time...
Note: I have only made FTF versions of Turbo Kernel v3.1 by CosmicDan (R800x/R800a/i/at) I have vouch for the R800a to be working, others will need testing....(just have stock FTF ready to go:fingers-crossed
Requirements
Flashtool

Ability to use Flashtool... Read Flashing A FTF by fma965
Paperclip or pin + wire for Testpoint (if not BL not unlocked)
S1tool for Testpoint (if not BL not unlocked)
STEP 1: BL Unlock Via Test Point method (Locked BL Only)
If your bootloader is currently LOCKED:
Read TP Guide by DragonClawsAreSharp...If you don't feel comfortable doing this...stop reading.
If you are comfortable with unlocking the bootloader then go ahead and do it.
Here is R800 TP location(quick google search): Here, and with red dot...you can use a paperclip and hold it to the (-) battery terminal to achieve the same results as the TP cable the guide shows.
In Flashtool (if you ever noticed):
Code:
S1_Loader_Root_773f - Version : R4A066 / Bootloader status : NOT_ROOTABLE ([I]lies[/I])
will now become:
Code:
S1_Loader_Root_773f,S1_Loader_test_Root_xxxx - Version : r4A069 / Bootloader status : ROOTED ([I]huehue[/I])
STEP 2: Prepare for Kernel
GSM Only: Flash R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf with Flashtool. Let device fully boot to language selection page.
Read through Turbo Kernel (or what ever kernel.ftf you plan to use)
Grab a rom, look at the compatibility section on the kernel page.
Copy rom over to root directory of phone memory card.
Prepare your body?
STEP 3: Kernel Time + Rom
R800a/at/i Turbo Kernel 3.1 Download
R800x Turbo Kernel 3.1 Download
More Kernels!!
Flash via Flashtool in flashmode.
Unplug usb....press and hold power button until 1 vibration....wait...wait...:victory:
Wait for the blue LED + vibration?, then press Volume Up. You should enter a sexy recovery...
Select: "Slot 1" > "TWRP Recovery" > "Wipe" > Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, System, then Factory Reset.
Go back to main page (hit back button), then select "Install", scroll down to the Rom you copied to the device, select and install it.
If you forgot rom: plug phone into computer, then in TWRP Select "Mount"> "Mount USB Storage" copy rom over to phone then install it
Reboot. Done.
This method should work for all Xperia 2011 devices that lack fastboot, but can be/are unlock via testpoint (anyone that can test let me know). Just need kernel to be in packed as a .ftf...

Also for help to convert more kernels to FTF. Please be sure to like his post if he helped you. That's it! Now you can finally unlock your bootloader and die happy.
i know this is free, but you can unlock your bootloader this days for 7.99 and super easy..only takes you 5 mnts and its done..no need for that much trouble converting boot.img in .ftf files...specially now that we all know developers are working on new kernel 3xx and 4.2.2 kernel and roms, and also updating kernels..so you always get limited with Loopys method.

anyway thanks for you post.:good:
but its not hard
only needs about 5mins for each kernel
but i have a question
is there any way to encrypt system to system.sin with a method like this?

That's because I've noticed the "Gsm part" late. But it's okay. No one died.
The OP has more issues than that. For example, it is purports to be a method of unlocking your bootloader and the the very first "step" is simply "1. Unlock bootloader via test point"
Yes, I know that the list is telling you the overall process of how to get the kernel you want without fastboot but it's saying that before ever stating that you don't get fastboot.
I'm sure there are many revisions to come.
Thanks for the info! I have an R800x and an R800at. I'm tempted to pay to get both unlocked with fastboot if I can find the service for cheap, but this sounds like a good option too. Will it retain my DRM keys? It will still be carrier locked, right?

Edit: All the kernels (except doomkernel) are working. I still can't connect my wifi on the Jellybean and ICS roms though.

I think there is no difference. You can flash only new kernel while installing ICS.
Hi, I update the info
@Qwerty123
Tomorrow I will be update with more options if it is possible.
@mobikidz
Yes, so you can use cwm anytime CWM with back key, and now this kernel have more features than original stock rom and the custom rom.
@FrozenSE
Yes you can use this kernel for alpha ics SE roms
do i need to remove this stockics0.2.img kernel after flashing because it is an Insecure boot.img
Good Morning, people!
princesupernoah kernel v0.2 is an insecure image because i need to run adb with superuser privileges, but it`s not bad so i can use for many things. However you can download v.0.1, that it´s clean, only include CWM.

Best Battery
1. Stock
2. UlBlDoom
3. FreeKernel
4. Gaming
My personal recommendation is UlBlDoom, it has great Speed+Battery and the best Tweaks becouse it offers me alot more possibilities of tweaking then the other ROMs. Its on par with the Gaming Version the only thing that is different is that the Gaming Version has extreme Virtual Memory and Taskkiller Values while the UlBlDoom has more friendly ones for a everyday ROM whit features like Timescape,FBiX2...

Nice work! What is the difference with M&M's rom?
updated to newest version of MiUI from www.miuiandroid.com (changelog can be found on their website) and the port is from Galaxy i9000 rather than Nexus S or Nexus One which is normally used to port
Branding is MiUI rather than Dev Branding, (i.e. M&M Germany and OODIE)
Everything else is more or less the same.

After downloading the Kernel for FXP111, what should I do it? There is no clear instruction.
Can someone make the Kernel a zip file? So I users can just install it using xrec.
Thanks.

Flash the kernel via flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
I dont think its possible to flash kernel via recovery. If you require any more assistance on installing .zip's to your phone, please search the forum and refer to the correct thread.
I would also like to thank repulsa for the posts
can someone please test on locked BL so I can update first post. Many thanks for all your feedback
Awesome works great with Kcernel full fxp113 Thanks for this seems like a neat rom. Pretty fast too

I'm pretty positive that any rom based on fxp will only work with the modified kernel, so I'm pretty sure it wont work on locked boot unless Somone made the kernel for locked bootloader to flash by xrecover

Reserved... Still waiting for Gin2JBean update. Lol. Does the gamepad really work for unlock bootloader?? At least its a stable ics. Thanks man.
Edit; Mybe u should include a guide for "Unlock bootloader" device also. Just a suggestion.

Ignore step 8 i guess.
Flashing your build.prop, do you want that i help you with Rom fixes or touchpads ?
Edit : Staying for the moment on ICS beta kernel cause everything works but i can return to neo L kernel if you want that i test some things.

sooo... this is like the update we never got? is it smooth? daily driver? game compatibility like ics beta? Thanks for your work
@AudioCreaper
Yes, it looks like this.
2 days with this Rom and UI is very smooth, like GB.
For daily driver, if you're on locked bootloader, you will lose gamepad and you'll have little bugs ATM (automatic luminosity rates, camera inverted).
If Unlocked, go ICS beta kernel with wifi modules and everything will work, with gamepad support (the only thing that doesn't work is touchpad !)
Awesome. =)
edit: no touchpad support? so no minecraft? dang.

now we only need the proper kernel for our play's, hopefully some Kernel Expert, like DooMLoRD or KeiranFTW or nickholtus will make it. Just wondering if its possible to mix the xperia Neo L kernel mixed with the xperia play kernel, because the kernel on xperia Neo L is more recent.
Edit: damn this is smooth! best ics rom I used on my play
Mybe some1 ought to pm the kernel dev to make an advance stock kernel for this rom using this rom kernel source. Just saying...
Xperia PLAY and Xperia Neo L have the same specs. That's why this works, they just removed the gamepad...

You should be able to load up any ROM based on the ICS Beta (or final release from other ROMs)
xDark, ICS++, and KA14 should work just fine
EDIT: Is anyone else getting this error during step two?

Definitely going to go the Nexus route next time, but that's not anyones fault but my own
If U want gamepad go on DooMKernel it works.

actualy the gamepad its implanted, the touchpad isn't, but you need a Xperia Play Kernel for the GamePag work
Will CDMA work?
That is, for locked? I know R800i ftf files will boot just fine on CDMA Plays, but what about the signal? Will I have to flash anything?
Collection of kernels compiled from source, but with different partition layout.

TIPS:
-If you are using doomkernel, you must flash wifi modules (check attachments)
-If you are having problem when downloading apps from playstore, download and run marketfix
-If you are having trouble with root in your rom with one of these kernels, install latest busybox, then update su binaries from within superuser app
WARNING:
Flashing kernel with different partition layout will make your current rom unbootable!!!
You must do factory reser (erase system and data) after flashing new kernel!!!!! MAKE BACKUP! Recommended way is to backup apps with "Titanium backup" or "Mybackuproot". You have been warned!
NOTE:
For easier wiping system and data, i've made batch file for windows users(it should help too if you are stuck in kernel logo and/or in recovery menu):
Download eraser.zip unpack anywhere in PC, and double-click on file "start.bat" when phone is fastboot mode to erase system and data partitions (best time to do it is right after flashing new kernel, but don't forget to select "factory reset" from recovery because ".android secure" folder from sd card must be erased too)

I've compiled Turbo Kernel (from 450344ebfc commit but still with cwm because on 175196a5ba commit cwm removed) with 400 gb system partition, some minor bugfix and bring back 720p support (though CosmicDan said it's buggy but I need 720p video recording). I haven't talk to CosmicDan yet to upload this kernel. I'll share the kernel both 720p and 480p after I got permission from CosmicDan.
edit: btw I can't pm @CosmicDan so @CosmicDan can I share your kernel mod? Thanks in advance

720p will not get nothing for our play..believe me..only consumes more ram as we dont have camera libs for it..not even on arcS and its better camera..even if you record on 1280x720p the fps are below( 640x480) 480p..so its a placebo effect..it seems recording but the quality indeed is inferior.

I admit, i didn't test jb kernel only (but it compiled without problem)
I think i know what is an issue (same reason it wouldn't work on other CM kernels).
For now, don't flash JB kernel (i'll delete from it OP) and i'll try to make it work
Ps: as i understand, you can enter recovery and flash rom? Did it even show kernel logo?
ps2: did you wiped system and data after/before flashing kernel?
sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question but the Q&A threads seem to only get "views" not replies.
will these work with the R800x with functioning network? id like to have a larger Data partition but it seems all the Kernels ive tried dont allow me to connect to my carrier (VZW).
thanks in advance.

Oh, well, i guess Lupus Jb v8 is only way to get bigger data partition on JB roms (that or arc s firmware flash)
Sorry guys for not testing this before published. Other versions are all tested and are working properly.
I don't know why Wedgess switch back to stock partition layout on JB v9+, but it must be good reason to do so.
