Hi, I was wondering if there was a mod that could be added to the DNA that enabled the screen to dim behind notifications when the notification panel is expanded?
I'm running newt's NOS M7 rom.
thanks!

I think it's AOSP feature, not sense.
So if you will have a AOSP-based rom you will have it without any mods.
But I may be wrong.

Yeah, I just flashed the 10.1 CM rom and it's automatically a feature on it, thanks for letting me know!

On aosp ROMs when you pull notifications down the application behind it gradually dims the more you pull it down

Hmm, I haven't used AOSP in a while. I'll have to try it out and see if I can port it

meh, i'm glad htc didn't do this. i'm pretty sure this feautre is what lags up the notification dropdown bar on all jellybean devices. my nexus 7 notification bar sucks..it's so laggy. and when samsung switched to JB and added that feature, their notification bar is like 20fps and lags down like crazy compared to when they had a flawless constant 60fps dropdown on ICS..kinda same with AOSP. the ICS dropdown was a higher FPS and was faster and less laggy; project butter my ass.
Works flawlessly for me on PAC. No lag whatsoever.

Me too, if anything the JB animations did nothing to decrease performance in Android. Everything I've seen is smooth, ICS however not so smooth.

can sombody point me to a gingerbread rom that has a NON transparent drop down notification menu? i have used Bamf newest remix rom, and now on gingeritis newest rom, and i dont like the transparent because i cant see the words, on the notification, and the quick settings side.
IIRC, BAMF lte beta5 (the regular version) as well as gingergane don't have transparency in the notification bar.
However, I have REMIX and have no problem reading text: the dropdown has adds a grey background behind actual notifications. If it doesn't for you, I'd suggest you make sure you've wiped data.
Also, for future reference, please post questions only in the Q n A subforum.

Bamf remix works well as long as you dont change from the default skin. If you do then reading the notification drop downs are quite challenging.

Yea I just realized that if you change the theme that would happen. So are all the gb roms transparent? Is there a Rom where its a solid background?

Ever use the uot kitchen? Google it and you can make your own pulldown for any rom
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Yea its the remix that has the issues. I think the remix of gb is more stable than the non remix though which is why I stayed with remix. But one option that I love on gingeritis is the brightness option in quick settings. That a decision maker for me. Once bamf integrates that I'm back.

I've been watching various videos about Jelly Bean and I've noticed whenever the notification bar is pulled down, there are no toggles. I haven't heard or seen anything about this so it made me wonder, are they doing away with toggles in the notification bar?
Maybe the toggles were turned off lol

Toggle the toggles!
There are no notification toggles in stock Android. ICS didn't have them either. It's just an extremely common feature in AOSP custom ROMs, so anyone who doesn't have a Nexus is used to them being a feature. CM10 will certainly have toggles, just like CM9.

Wow I wasn't aware of that. On my Motorola Photon I didn't have toggles either. It just seems kind of weird to me that it is not a stock ICS feature.

That's one of the reason some people actually like samsung os they introduce the toggles a few years ago, some features the ICS has have been available for root users or some manufactures, but not all of them, but they think is good the google is open that's why you have flavors of cakes not just one

I'm afraid not. That kind of actions are highly unlikely to be modified by custom rom builders like cyanogenmod. Not entirely sure, but i believe the notification bar shows up when you activate the app switcher by holding the home button. That way you can access the notification bar in a rather quick way.
In apps like Camera yes, it's possible in ParanoidAndroid, but in games notif. drawer is hidden and it's forced.

Just a quick poll to see what you guys think....I personally don't like Halo at all I feel there is too little functionality as far as moving the window and resizing the window...it is not true multitasking as far as I'm concerned...I definitely prefer TW multi-view....what do you guys think?

I really like HALO and what it will be when it is finished. As of right now we don't really have the 100% finished product. I liked the way it would actually pop up over the other app but wouldn't block the other app. I still prefer multi view over HALO but I think, from what we have seen of HALO thus far, that it'll be better than TW multi view when its finished.

I have the best of both worlds.
I have Multi-Window, and I have this cool thing called Floating Notifications, which is pretty much almost exactly like Halo from what I've seen (or at least for what I use it for)

Its very very similar, there was either a post about it here or a article on the front page of XDA and I can't remember which. It is similar in some ways but is very different. Its still a damned good app.

But doesn't floating notifications take u to the full app if you want to reply to an email or text?
Halo will be great when it's finished for that purpose but of course it doesn't have the same functionality as Multi-Window. Although I think the best implementation of MW is the tablet style with resizeable Windows.

It takes you to the full app yes, that is not what HALO is intended to do though if you watched the second set of HALO videos. It is intended to pop up in a half sized box that only covers the middle of what you're doing while leaving the edges of the app uncovered so you can switch back quickly. There are also going to be other features, I'd bet, and it wouldn't surprise me if it turned into multiple resizable windows that you could launch and place anywhere ion the screen. That's what I'm hoping it'll turn in to in the end.

Yes that's what I'm saying. floating notifications is the same thing as a stock status bar pretty much. The whole point of Halo is to be able to truly handle notifications while in an app. I'm not a developer but I'd imagine if they can get social apps into halo it's possible to expand it to all apps. like I said, I think the resize able windows in touch wiz tablets is the ultimate culmination of this, unfortunately there isn't a stable rom capable of it for the vzw gn2 yet.

There isn't a stable DD that I have found yet capable of resizable multi windows but it won't be too much longer, there was discussion of it in one of the threads not too long ago and someone was talking about making a flashable zip that would work on all TW ROMs.
And honestly I think HALO will be better when they finish it and add all the options to it they have in store. They have released the code as of today but it is still far from being finished.

Actually there was an app released shortly after halo was released that did this on any ROM. I don't remember the name but I know it's definitely out there.
Edit: Just found it while looking through my previously installed apps, it's called floating notifications and it can be found in the Play Store.
