[GT-I9100] [Cyanogen Mod 10.2] JellyBean 4.3 Promotion Thread - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Update : The port has been completed successfully on July 29th http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382579 (Sorry for the late Update), currently at the time of this writing the port isn't fit to be a daily driver with minor but annoying issues like random freezes, but more stable releases will be released soon, I guess the CM devs were impressed by the large user base and support for the S2 the waiting period for the port was practically negligible, guy's we now have Android 4.3.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well if you guy's ever wanna see a fast port of CM JB 4.3 give your votes here
http://xplod.fr/poll/
It is a poll by a CM dev to decide which device gets the first port, vote for your favorite device there.
Edit : Newbies who are reading this must not skip the voting thinking "you ain't gonna use CM ever" most custom roms take CM as a base for customization and features, it makes the jobs of developer's a little easier, with developer support growing lesser for S2 we must do our part in keeping them interested with our 2+ year old device.
Edit: Voter's and Custom Rom lover's persuade others to vote.
Edit:as of 15 may 2012 10:23pm GMT +5:30 WE ARE LAGGING FAR BEHIND s3, we need a atleast 1500+ votes just to get ahead of them with our score, so people who read this, please do try and promote s2 by sharing the link with other fellow user's.

Hellraising

Is it possible to hellraise one of the ics roms (ie. Cm9)? I did a search and saw nothing on this

Search again.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
No, you clearly didn't search. You didn't even bother to read the first post of the Hellraiser thread.
Seriously? Where did you search. It certainly wasn't xda
No you can't, if you do there's a good chance you'll brick your phone.. Be patient and wait.. Ics will come in time

OMG
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
If you read careful not just quickly looked over you would have saw that you can not hellraise cm7/9 or miui based roms.most of the of the other roms are fair game.
You can always try the asop hellraiser to hellraise cm7 n miui roms but not cm9.be patient ics is still in the box waiting to be opened
Not only that but it's kind of common sense if you understand what the hellraiser actually does

A lot of developers are from countries where the SGS3 isn't available yet, e.g. the US. Give it a bit of time

I think it's quite fast to be honest. We had a ROM and root before the device was even released!
Saying that, I'm pleased with the speed and interface on the s3 as it is (for now), so finding little reason to install custom.
Once voodoo is enabled on a kernel I'll look at installing a custom one.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
lols you call being rooted already even when the rooter didn't have the device slow?
you call having beta roms already floating around even when the device was just released slow?
the only time i'll say development is slow is if a certain gavin-phelan actually manages to develop something let's say the next decade for this sgs3.
come on you devs! where are your developments?!?!?! what's taking all of you so long?! it's so easy to develop something you know, even us random posters cand do it fast and easy!
you are all so ##$$&@*@ slow for gavin-phelan's sake!
very few devs would spend $700 for a device.

USA has different specs and this model is not going to get released here anyway. To the op, cm9 developers are working on this and aosp roms always take some time after release since they have to do some device specific tweaks. Right now most roms will be stock variants.

Rooting a Samsung's nothing though because Samsung wants it to be easy so doesn't include any encryption.

A small question?

Why there is no update for gingerbread roms by developers! there used to be more developers and used to be many roms but now just old roms and no one around! Just asking and not complaining is their any specific reason for this!!!
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
From what I can see, the majority or devs are working on ics/jb
We've already got many stable (or nearly stable) gingerbread builds, so it makes sense that attention is focused on ics/jb
(This is based on my opinion and observations)

You can only theme a GB rom now. Nothing is left to develop
Plus the world has moved on.
Yep, no more improvements possible.
Same thing happened with the froyo roms.

What do you mean by that?
"Suitable for noobs" ?
I guess now we should release two or even more nightlies, one for noobs, second for junior members, third for senior and so on.
I don't understand why you guys are so into creating new and useless threads each and every day.
PleaseA ask a moderator to close this thread. And if you are interested in knowing which one is better, then its more often advised to use and try yourself instead.

CM7 latest nightly is the best gingerbread rom.
> haha lol.. I suggest dont call your selves noobs.. be a newbie not a noob.
I haven't had any problems using NFE revised 1.0,oddly enoughly its the only gb themed rom neko took over that allows me to partition, flash Darktremors and use s2e without getting constant FCs after reboot...I suppose that has something to do with a2sd not being implemented into that rom...the only thing left for GB is theme work, and well just about every GB rom other than nightlies have all been themed out so that's pretty much done...I did once wish a user could theme our device with a college football team type theme but I doubt there's any interest..btw OP,you can only change the UI and implement either working or placebo type scripts, you can't change the hardware..what you got is what you got...
Fyi - actually you can change the hardware, there is a way and know how but after all the money spent on trying to boost ram and chipsets, you might as well purchase a high end mobile device

Jelly Bean Rom

When can i expect rom for ma o1????
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
and what about search first go original android development.
And this is why the developers are closing their threads and leaving. Please, actually search and read. If you did, you'd see that the rom under development is still a work in progress. If you're so impatient, maybe help test it or fix bugs. Remember the one golden rule: Don't ask for etas!

Goodbye 4.2.2

Ugg.. While I always strive to have the latest os, 4.2.2, at least chameleon rom, there isn't enough on it to make up for the weirdness so back to stock 4.1.2. If anyone ever finds a rom that fixes the bluetooth hang issue, stock camera not in 16x9 photos, and crappy gps signal, please let me know.

Peace nice knowing you glad you let everyone of us know that you don't lime ROMs that devs work hard on don't bother asking for help just ***** to us that always helps your issues get resolved
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
You really didnt need to start a tread to tell everyone that you dont like a rom. If you dont like a rom, try another. Everyone has their own preferences, to each their own rom. In the OP for Chameleon it states " Chameleon OS is currently in beta. While it runs very well,
there may be things that are not completely functional." So I dont see why you start a thread saying that you are having issues with it.
I might add, many other aosp roms have repos that are updated on a daily basis to fix problems and add features. New releases come out on a daily basis.
