Has anyone managed to play Asphalt 7 on the HD+ with cm10.1? It crashes right after the "g" is shown and returns to the home screen. This happens on a clean install of the rom.
(Isn't it ironic that it played perfectly on rooted stock)
Edit. It pays fine, but levels take crazy long to load and there is load lag in some levels. Not worth playing A7. NFSMW is slow to kiss too, but not as bad. They seem to load slower, the closer the device is to 3gb remaining. Strange.
Yep, plays perfectly, but like my Tegra 3 tablets, none play as smooth as my iPad 4 with A7. NFSMW on the other hand plays just as smooth on the HD + as the iPad 4. Seems A7 was a semi lazy port.
Then it must be just my luck! I tried installing/uninstalling/reinstalling half a dozen times and I still can't make it work.
I am using stock 2.1.
It doesn't seem to be running for me either. I purchased Asphalt 7 from Google Play; installed perfectly fine. Once I run the game, the gameloft logo appears, the "G", and then closes. I've tried this on rooted 2.0.6, and on CyanogenMod 10 on a Nook HD+.
I've not tried this on stock 2.10. Actually, I've not even updated any of my Nook devices to the latest version. I'm on Cyanogenmod on both devices.
So neither works for me, even after paying for the game. Perhaps it'll work on stock with 2.10 update.
Update: Asphalt 7's recent update works on the Nook HDplus. I am now able to load and play Asphalt 7 perfectly, although it is a little slow at start. At least it works, not going to complain.
It was unplayable on stock but once I installed 10.1 I am getting ~25 FPS vs the 9FPS on stock.
I wish it where higher though.
As far as loading I have a 40MB/s MicroSD card and it loads about 20 times faster running 10.1 from the SD than it did off of the onboard memory.

Yeah, the latest nightlies seem to have improved the performance of the game. It's actually playable now!

Hey guys and gals, I saw there were a few FPSE threads but mine is a little different.
I have FPSE running, pretty well in fact. I'm running phiremod 6.3, and using wii controller to play PSX games on FPSE. Everything works really nicely, running most games at decent speed with decent sound, but within about 5-15 minutes of gameplay, my Nook shuts down and restarts completely. I have tried turning on and off a bunch of the settings in the program, but no luck. It happens randomly on different games, so I know it's not just one iso that's causing problems. I am using a class 10 SDHC 16 GB card to store and play my isos. Would moving them to the nook internal storage help? Are there any combination of settings on FPSE that you recommend for Nook use?
Basically, has anyone of you guys gotten FPSE running reliably well for good lengths of time without crashing? If so, please let me know what settings you have enabled/disabled. I am definitely stuck on phiremod 6.3 for now, since the n64oid doesn't work on any higher versions of CM7, unfortunately.
Thanks for the help guys (and gals too of course)!

I would try getting a Sandisk class 4 uSD and see if your issues go away. Class 10 cards have extremely high sustained read/write speeds, but suffer greatly on shorter and random read/write cycles.
Like DizzyDen said, but you may also try reformatting and installing everything to the SD card again, could have gotten corrupted when you were writing the os to it. (Happened to me in the past, random shutdowns, force closes, etc.)
Thanks for the advice guys! Bummer about class 10 having these issues... guess I should have researched it a little more before spending so much money on the class 10 when a class 4 would have been better. Luckily I believe I do have some 2GB cards that may be class 4...
Just out of curiosity, is class 4 the only one that is guaranteed to work well or is it just the optimum/maximum speed that doesn't encounter these errors?
Would moving the isos to the internal storage from the card fix the problem, or would I have to go back to the original files I downloaded and copy from there?
Thanks again!
I doubt it's flash card related unless the card is having data corruption problems. Speed shouldn't be an issue because consider that a real PS1 has a 2X CDROM (300KB/s) with around 300ms access time which is extremely slow compared to any flash media.
With PSX4Droid I found that some games work better as PBP files. You can make those with IceTea (do a search for it). This is pretty hit or miss though. But an advantage is that it can compress game images a lot in some cases.
My experience is more that the PS1 and N64 emulators are generally unstable and that's even when the game is fairly well emulated let alone all of the games that aren't.

FPSE is far better than PSX4Droid and is fully stable on the Nook color, his problem is unrelated to the program itself.
An unstable overclock will frequently cause the NC to reboot.
Hi, guys!! I have been doing many tests, and I was very, very happy with my 7100 and stock ics rooted rom, everything was fine until I finally got ASPHALT 7 working... but, it's totally unplayable, runs very, very laggy and doesn't respond to accelerometer...I couldn't believe it if I wouldn't have seen it, my powerfull tegra2 dual core tablet, running an unplayable game!! Then I tried latest CM9-20120928-EXPERIMENTAL-P3 because of the oc 1,4ghz possibility, but I get the same results, so... desperately I went back to this one "[ROM][4 Dec][HC32] isi-galaxy 1.2.5v with pershoot's kernel", and what I see... THE GAME RUNS NEAR PERFECT!! I have touchwiz apps, samsung apps, DLNA, accuweather... all the touchwiz's stuff (which I have to confess I missed, so an ICS port from 7500 version like the one I'm talking about would be great).
So, I find my self that, after being so mad about getting ICS on 7100, I have to turn back to 3.2 because it offers better performance at last. Yes, yes, I miss google chrome and some other things, but.. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS, PEOPLE???
Hello.
i am using my galaxy tab lately, but noticed it had unbelivably slow performance in games like modern combat 3, asphalt 7, and even Sonic 4 Episode 2 and BIT TRIP BEAT, and shown many apps in the playstore as being incompatible. after testing lots of roms, i decided to put a jellybean 4.1.2 rom on it and overclock. although more apps are shown as compatible with it, the device still performs poorly in a lot of 2d and 3d games. tried to live with it, but when i saw that the official (physical) samsung keyboard that i got it with it (connects through charging port) which was recognised by stock hc and ics is now recognised by it as a timer (wtf), i decided i must find a better rom. been looking for weeks by now. i will appreciate any suggestion from you to a fast performing, battery efficient and highly compatible rom and kernel combination that i could use on my device that you have tested and can recommend.
Thank you, E.
I like both the aokp and cm10 4.2 jb roms.
It could be some of the games you are playing, not all developers try hard. Nfs most wanted has amazing graphics and plays great, I have had other games with Nintendo graphics that don't run smooth.
Using latest KitKat CM snapshot and sideloading the APK, I was able to test to see if Hearthstone would run on the TouchPad. Low and behold, it worked. Playable is how I would describe the experience. A little lag here and there, but surprising given how old this tablet is! Hope you fellow TouchPad'rs enjoy!
I need to update my HP. It is still running ICS I believe. When I tried to install it though, it gave me a space issue. I show 14gigs free on the tablet though. I think something else is conflicting.
Can confirm, running milaqs 4.4 build and game is very smooth, just lagging a bit in the menus.
A point to make, the TouchPad rebooted twice while running the game at 1.7 Ghz. Turned the cpu down to 1.5Ghz and everything is working fine
no need for sideloading, i noticed hearthstone appearing in the playstore natively
on ics/4.0.4
runs alright, highly playable, but noticeable dips in framerate
I have two Touchpads, one with ICS 4.0.4 (CM9-20130929 nightly) , the other with KITKAT 4.4.4 (jcsullins CM11-20141125). Hearthstone is stable and definitively faster on the KITKAT build, while it crashes now and again on the ICS tablet. My wife considers it barely playable on ICS due to the lag.

just picked up this tablet this after cuz this is the only android tab with modern soc.
but it feels laggy when using. especialy when playing games.
The game i play called Mobile Legends,
I used to play with my Moto Z which packaged the same soc as this tab, yet the resolution looks like shyt and very choppy and laggy when playing.
Also touch screen some times stop working when multi touching, e.g walking with left wheel and attacking using right button, then left wheel stucked into one direction until release and touch left wheel again.
is it a rom issue? game issue or i received a defected unit?

I can only compare it with my OnePlus 3T but I feel that probably is a good comparison SD820 vs SD821.
In general I'd say performance is more or less the same with the odd animation stutter on the tab s3.
I don't do games so can't comment there, but its handling 4k h265 HDR content like a breeze and barely dents the battery.
I'll see if I get a chance to download and try the game, will feedback performance.
I think you need to mess with the game launcher feature to get working correctly
no stutter and lag for me so far. Mine just arrived today.
I've had mine since launch day, no issues here.
I've had two now, one Wi-Fi only device which I replaced with a LTE version and for some reason the LTE one feels more laggy, might try a factory reset.
Its because of samung touchwiz. Nougat build is really laggy even though I had tab s2 and even after heavy debloating I noticed minor difference. When I switched to a custom rom it much much snappier without any lags.
So blame samsung or wait for them to fix these issues. I have a oneplus 3 and with 820 its really quick(custom rom)!
Sometime I feel some lag, but the very annoying problem I've found is that when holding the tablet vertically, scrolling the screen up and down reveals that the right side of the display is draw a little before the left side, so showing a strange "elastic" effect. This hurts me given the "premium" level of the tablet. The same effect doesn't show on my 3 years old Tab S, nor in landscape orientation.
Did you notice the same things?

Have LTE version and it does feel laggy. Special if the device been off for long time.
Pretty bad performance when apps are updating or after sitting idle or of for long periods. Can't wait to root and put a Rom on it but I want to keep s pen functionality.
I did a Geekbench at 07 this morning I got 1823 single core and 4033 multi.
Now, a few hours later I get no more than 1190 single and 3100 multi, which is slower than my Tab s2
and my Geekbench 4 app hangs when trying to start up have to force quit it sometimes.
How can I find out who/what is stealing my speed?
Huib
Sorry kids, the Tab s3 is back to normal with single core 1773 multi core 4033 and compute a whopping 7085.

Same problem with my LTE. Sometimes he hardly wakes up after a while. It may take some seconds or not wake up at all.
Now I have really problems. It just does not start up. It reboots when not starting up from lepp
.
-There is no difference if using Nova or Touchwiz.
-The data/apps on it is a clone of my Tab S2
Huib
P.s.
I must say that playing very large Video files ( >10 GB) is much snappier. But e.g. my Dutch Volkskrant/AD newspaper does a very bad two fingers zoom pitch. It just hangs now and then while zooming. Problems that I do not have while zooming google foto's and others.

I removed the SD card and did a factory rest and it seems like its working fine now. The tablet wakes up very fast and I don't see any lag so far.
are you guys using an SD card?
Yes, that should not be a problem. 128 GB.
I had however the program Dropsync ( great software BTW) referring to a non existing folder on the SD card.
So, at every startup/wake up, the program seemed to be searchig for the folder. And that caused the delay or hanging.
I am not 100% sure, but after stopping Dropsync, and later on referring to the correct folders, the problem never came back.
A small test, removing the SD card, helped me a lot.
Huib
Not using it to play games, but it seems to run smoother after an update I received today.
Hi! After reading this thread, I've decided to remove sd card and tablet stopped lag. Then I've formatted SD card to exFat, removed unused files so some music, several books and 3 photos left there. After putting it back, tablet started to lag again.
Today I've run AnTuTu Benchmark with sd and without. 1 test with card, 1 without, 1 with, 1 without. Between tests I've only closed AnTuTu via back button and nothing else.
So results:
With SD1: 3D 28282, UX 38632, CPU 29294, RAM 9185 TOTAL 105393
Without SD1: 3D 53146, UX 41127, CPU 23673, RAM 7392 TOTAL 125338
With SD2: 3D 28743, UX 38650, CPU 22223, RAM 6571 TOTAL 96187
Without SD2: 3D 57138, UX 43860, CPU 24020, RAM 8690 TOTAL 133708
As you can see, 3D and UX are much faster WITHOUT card. It's prettey old ADATA 32GB. No app is installed there. How can this be?
Old SD cards can get laggy. I had one in my Note4 that I'd had for about 5 years. Lots of reading and writing to it in that time. Eventually my Note4 started lagging and becoming unresponsive. I took the SD card out and no more lag.

My UK LTE version doesn't lag. It's actually quite fast and fluid. Do you have Samsung's cloud back-up feature activated? It consumes a lot of resources when it's running. I must have a unicorn Tab S3. It's never experienced Wi-Fi drain and gets stunning battery life; both in stand-by and active use.
