So I installed Prototypell's ROM, and I had this droid like boot animation, which is laggy. I want to have my original xperia boot animation on jb.
How do I get back?
Extract the bootanimation from ftf (there is a tutorial on how to do that)
I short extract system.sin using winrar
Dump data of system.sin using flashtool
U will get a system.ext4 worth 1gb
Use ext2read that file and save system folder
In system/media/bootanimation
Change permissions to rw-r-r

Into Rom toolbox, inside root browser go to system/media there should be a bootanimation.zip press and hold it. A window pops up. Scroll down. There should be a choice called permissions. Choose it. Then set rw-r-r

I have taken the boot animation from the Sony Tablet S ported it for smartphones. The resolution of the boot animation is 480 x 854.
You need to put the zip file in system/media and rename it from "sonytablet" to "bootanimation". Change the permissions to:

No, you need to put the zip file into system/media and rename the file to bootanimation.zip.
Sorry I didn't mention this in the first post. I'm going to edit it to make the instructions clear. I'll make a flashable zip soon.

Make sure if you want to go back to stock to back up your current boot animation. Go to system/media and copy bootanimation.zip into your SD card to save it for later.

Change the .apk to .zip and extract the aplication to find your image change it to transparent and compress files again to zip and normal comperession method with win zip or win rar then change the .zip to .apk and replace the new aplication with root explorer and restart .....enjoy

Easy solution
you can just try this mod in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797064
you will be able to remove the bottom line completely but not the upper line
and it's more customizable than stock

Hey, This is my first piece work.
any way.
I have managed to Port the JB Galaxy Nexus boot animation...
It look like this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uuujV6f6_w
Link : https://www.box.com/s/v737vf2k0vvwq7ng9pub
If that does not work Try
: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzVqALAzulVxdGZ4RzZZckNfQjQ
THIS NEEDS ROOT!
Do not try this on 2011 xperia Phones!
How to:
-Download the .Zip file and place on SD CARD.
-Open Root Explorer MOUNT R/O
-Go to /system/media change the permissions of the file "Bootanimation.zip" to Reed, write, execute.
-Copy the bootanimation.zip and paste it on sd card (THIS IS THE BACKUP just in case you don't like the Nexus animation..
___________________________
-Then go to /system/media and delete "bootanimation.zip"
-Then move the New "bootanimation.zip" file to system/media [the one from me]
___________________________
Now just restart your phone and ENJOY.....
I think if you can get the zip file and just swap it in, it may work. But of course backup first just in case
