Camera not focusing? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I just got the HTC One not even 24 hours ago, and everything was perfect.. was..
The camera stopped focusing at anything, 1 inch away or 10 ft away or whatever distance, not even any mode will focus, not video, not slow motion. I even reset the phone to factory setting and it didn't fix it, so im guessing time for a replacement?

Had the same issue with mine, ended up returning it as it was a defective camera. Tested out several others in stores to make sure, I first thought it was because of the low pixels, but sure enough it was defective.

Mine has the same problem, it also is really slow. Like if I move the camera to look at something else, it would have a second delay

[Q] To those of you who returned your 3VO for a replacement...

Were you happier with the replacement unit than you were with your original? Were there any additional faults with the replacement unit? Was it worse/better?
I just sent out for a replacement for mine because of under screen dust, dead pixel, the screen tilt, and just to pretty much get a brand spanking new one the day before my 30 days is up. Am just a bit scared I'll get something worse off than what I'm giving up.
There isn't really anything internally wrong with it, besides the dust and the pixel, (the pixel is barely noticeable, but once seen, can't be unseen).
Any input from any of you would be greatly appreciated, and perhaps alleviate and fears I have about it.
My wife had the screen tilt and signal defect.
Her new one we just got yesterday is perfect. No tilt at all.
No dropping every call anymore. No issues with data and WiFi at all.
New one is like my phone. Good to go.
She is now FULLY satisfied.

I too had to get a replacement. I took mine to the Sprint store for random reboots, keyboard errors, dead pixels (5 to be exact). After testing the phone and them saying it is perfect, I began having problems a week later. Took the phone to Sprint, got a replacement and have had no problems. Speed is faster, the phone does not reboot, the pixels are all there, the screen is perfect. There seems to be no problems that I can report. I think that originally the phone had flaws due to trying to push them out so fast. But after realizing the issues, they corrected and seem to have it down.

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but i read somewhere if you add the watch widget to your homescreen and watch it that way it should work fine.
My first had a lot of problems reboots,fc with basic apps, sometimes would not turn on without a battery pull. My second one works great so smooth but I wish the speaker was louder.
Exchanged for screen tilt: new one is perfect in every way.
BTW, between myself and friends, I have access to 6 3vo's and I've tested them all with the dead pixel test on the market. Not a single dead pixel on any of the six, two of which were launch day units.
Mike
My first one was leaking light at the bottom buttons... and the main defect was the Mobile Network and Wifi would shut off randomly... When turning them back on... they would just sit there saying "Turning on..."
Got the new one... Light doesn't leak and somehow Mobile Network shut off. I'm beginning to wonder if it's me messing with the phone... I am happier with the replacement... and most will still be in the first 30 days... so you can get a brand new one.
Gonna get mine swapped tommoro due to if you shake it slightly it rattles and typing rattle is louder slow net speeds sucks. LOL love the phone.
Damn how I'm not having any of those issues with my phone?; may be I'm blessed lol

First was perfect except no 3g reception. Second was a total defect in every way... except got great 3g coverage. Third seems to be a keeper. So far its perfect.

I do have heavy light leakage on the bottom of my phone. It looks like the screen didn't set correctly.
It's never bothered me. Can't help but love this phone.

My first one had random reboots and wouldn't sleep... along with a crooked screen, so I exchanged it. The second one still had the crooked screen, but it didn't have random reboots and would sleep properly. However, the speaker was busted. It was extremely low on volume and it would pop every time any audio was played. The third one (that I still currently have) sleeps properly, doesn't randomly reboot, and has a good speaker. It still has the crooked screen though, but it is much less crooked than the first two. I'm tempted to try one more exchange just to get one that has a perfectly straight screen, but I'm scared of getting one that's the same or worse.
Your lucky you got ur unit swapped I'm stuck with mine the lady was a ***** at the store management wouldn't swap mine due to rattle or net hang reportibg the ***** lady that gave me looks when I took my phone in to there main store.

I think the rattle is the 3D 2D camera switch because mine does that as well but after a quick shake and listen I held the switch and viola no more rattle.

Help phone restarts when shooting video

Im using a Canadian Rogers Sony X10 thats not rooted. It has go launcher on it and a few apps but not a whole lot.
Whenever I try to make a video the phone randomly starts. Sometimes it will last a couple minutes and sometimes only 30 seconds. I tried clearing the cache on the camera app and did a full reset a month or so back cause I was having battery issues (which it didnt fix, ended up buying an awesome 3200 battery instead) so I dont know what else to try now. Everything else seems to be fine. Takes pictures fine.
Any suggestions??
Knowing that you cleared its cache and did a factory reset, it might be a hardware problem.
btw, nice 3200mah battery, can i have that? lol just kidding.

It agree. That it to check up, it is necessary reflashe phone with official or any unofficial ROM (necessary to clear all user data)
I was also having the same problem a few days ago.. I rooted my phone and got a little improvements.. Now my phone crash after 5 minutes recording... And if i change my Video resolution from HD to lower then time increases... And mostly it happens when i have battery lower than 55%...

Got the battery on ebay, with the case and shipping it was only like 15 bucks. One of the Chinese ones but so far so good.

well have did you do a factory reset, or reflashing the official rom? that might help.. and if you have done that and still no changes, it also might be a hardware problem. I think it's time to go to a repair center ^^

I wanted to update to 2.3 for its multitouch capability but now i have got multitouch on 2.1 without issues...

same problem here
Hello guys, any fix?
I found a way to reproduce this bug very fast:
1.open camera
2.set take pictures by touching the sscreen
3.set sound shutter off
4.take a pictures (8mp)
5.go to video recording
6.set capturing by touching the screen
7.set sound shutter off
8.start recording by touching the screen (720p HD)
9.BAM x10 shutting down after 2 secs
This is incredibly anoying!!! I have not tested this on 2.1 to see if it's OS version related or phone related.
But if you guys found a fix, can you please post it and/or pm me!
I've got the same issue..
Sent the device 2 times to S.E. for service and they didn't fix it.. (no
Although, they told me that it isn't a hardware issue cause they replaced the device's pcb both of 2 times..!
So,what's remaining next for me is to replace the battery,I've ordered a BST-41 (the original one) and I'm waiting for it next week..!
Hope I've helped somehow, will tell you if battery replacement is the solution..!

Front Camera doesn't work

Good Day everyone!!
I have a HTC EVO 3D GSM upgraded it to ICS and front camera started not to work. Everytime I try to turn front camera on or to use mirror application it is thinking that the 2nd camera is the rear 2nd camera and its flipped upside down.
It will fix it if I restart the phone several times (Probably 2 to 5 times of restart then when I try to use it several times it goes back to the same problem, I'm thinking that this is not a hardware problem but a software problem because it can be fixed by restarting the phone several times but its getting annoying already to have to do that just for me to use the front camera.
I have tries
1. Resetting Phone to Factory Settings
2. Resetting Phone to Factory Settings and included SD Card
and its the same thing.
TIA!
Hardware problem. I took my phone to sprint for this the other day and there's nothing they can do.

Yup. Pretty much what the poster above me said. My fiance's phone is afflicted with the same issue. Oddly enough, when she got her phone, it worked with out an issue. Then, one day out of the blue BAM! the ffc no longer worked right. She doesn't use it much so it's not really an issue for her. YMMV,

A Few Questions

Hello,
So I've been using my HTC One for about a week now (got it straight from a T-Mobile store). Just a few questis;
1. Battery life went down from 100% to 50% in just two and a half hours. All I was using was TuneIn Radio and Whatsapp on 4G (HSPA+ not LTE). That shouldn't happen right?
2. The camera doesn't always focus and in low light is pretty terrible. Not supposed to happen right?
3. There seems to be a gap/run off/sharp area next to the headphone port/jack.
These are not supposed to happen right? Does it warrant a replacement? Should I go back to the store and ask for a replacement?
Also, when will we see the software update that improves the battery life that is mentioned in here: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...s-techradar-s-third-5-star-smartphone-1149180
Thanks,
Crazysah
I too would like this update.

Can anyone tell me if my phone is having major problems or just me freaking out?
Hi, first congratulations for your phone.
I'm sorry , cannot answer your questions, but, I'd like to ask a question myself.
Is it possible the phone rings in your ear while you hold it close to your face.
this thing happened to me on my old omnia and its a very bad experience.
Ie. You press reply on your phone and bring the phone on your ear but somehow you didn't. So phone keeps ringing into your ear (LOUD).
Did you experience this ?
I have the same problems my battery dies really fast and the camera I'm not impressed I take a picture nd it's not as clear as it should be for some reason.

Anyone here who can help?
Also, here is a link to the pictures I took with the camera: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41094946&postcount=50 - Do they look fine?
Someone? Anyone? Please?
If you are streaming data for two and a half hours straight you will use battery. If the screen was on for anywhere near those two and a half hours, you will chew through your battery. I'm sure your phone is fine.

Yeah but I was streaming audio, not video. I do think my battery is more or less fine though, only died once on me. Will test out more and report back.

-As others have said, streaming data and having the screen on will eat your battery right up. You could however install a battery manager like "Battery Doctor" which will test it's health and give you ideas to conserve battery.
2. The camera doesn't always focus and in low light is pretty terrible. Not supposed to happen right?
-That's weird and weak, I bought this for the camera because the ulrapixel camera rocks for dark bar scenes and titty flashes. Do some searching specifically on this, I've heard rumors that there were some faulty cameras out there but a restore might also fix that right up...
3. There seems to be a gap/run off/sharp area next to the headphone port/jack.
-Yea, there were a lot of reports about that gap. It's a shame, if you take it back to the store and they have them in stock you should be able to swap it out. I went through three of the five units in my local store before I found one with no gap or dead pixels, but then I'm one picky cracker.
Hope this helped.

This thread covers the various gaps folks have found
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197732
And the camera pictures just look like you're not quite used to using the settings yet to get great pictures. Spend a bit playing with the options and see if your results improve but it looks like if there is a problem at least it's just a software thing. If you're really worried cruise into a store and take a few identical pictures with their demo unit and your phone, that'll give you a good comparison.

Congrats on getting a true gapless! I'm not sure about the pics and since none of us were there when you took them don't trust anyone who says they are sure... Ensure that your lens is clean and go do an in store comparison, most likely if a rep sees that their camera takes much better pics they'll swap it out on the spot. I've heard of lens covers having fingerprints on the inside that caused blurriness so it could be something like that, the store comparison seems like the easiest troubleshooting path though.

Under Water Pictures

Has anyone been able to take pictures underwater? I tried today and the screen was unable to detect touches and camera would not respond. Just curious how other results are out there.

Don't go in salt water! I took my phone to the beach and was taking pics in the water. Rinses it off right after, but somehow it killed the fingerprint sensor.
With the sensor bad...anytime anything regarding security would come up, the phone would reboot.
This was about 8 months ago. It was still under warranty, so I brought it in to be repaired. The guy that services the phone told me that it happened to a bunch of his customers.
