Under Water Pictures - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Has anyone been able to take pictures underwater? I tried today and the screen was unable to detect touches and camera would not respond. Just curious how other results are out there.

Don't go in salt water! I took my phone to the beach and was taking pics in the water. Rinses it off right after, but somehow it killed the fingerprint sensor.
With the sensor bad...anytime anything regarding security would come up, the phone would reboot.
This was about 8 months ago. It was still under warranty, so I brought it in to be repaired. The guy that services the phone told me that it happened to a bunch of his customers.

Phone will not turn on

Yesterday, I was at the beach, phone was fine, later i go into the bag of things I brought out to check my shiny new Evo 3D, only to find it turned off, and I haven't been able to get a thing working all day, won't come on, wont give me a startup vibrate, screen flash, charge light, or anything. No water damage either I've checked the water indicator and nothing is different. Any ideas on how to get it back up and running.
Also, my girlfriends OG Evo will come on, but no screen, screen will not show anything even though capacitive buttons glow a normal, no water damage on her phone either.
Yes I posted this yesterday but under a weird title
Yes I have battery pulled
Yes I have tried a new SD card, and completely removing the SD
Don't know what else to try
Please help
Maybe the sun borked something in the units. I don't know if you left it baking in the sun but I know that leaving it in direct sunlight for prolonged period of time can wreak major havoc on LCD screens.
When you plug in the device you do you at least get a charge light indicator?
I'd suggest cooling down the device but since you said this was yesterday I don't see how this could help you.
Battery pull, fan cool down, wait an hour, reassemble and try again.
If no go. 611 my friend

The sun could of baked your phones both of them depending on how hot it was at the beach . I know the sun will **** up a lcd screen. Since your both having issues im guessing it was from the sun so I would take it to sprint and get it checked out .

I went to a sprint store today, they cant touch it until 30 days, I'm not sure how it could have gotten so overheated, It was left in the bottom of the bag, and everything else down there was fairly cool, i tried cooling it over the ac though.
And no, no charge light at all
question
How many days have you had it... Seems like a defective phone from the get go to me. I would be pissed if I bought a new phone and it died in 2 days. Return the phone and don't take no for an answer!!! They should give you another one.

I agree. Take the 3vo back demand an exchange. Take the evo back separately (maybe different store altogether) and have the tech fix it or do the insurance deal.
Beaches are the graveyards of electronics. Don't take them there unless you plan on burying them during your visit.
in your shoes!
Hey I am having the same Problem (diff circumstances, not beach temps I am in Chicago) I was at my friends apt tonight showing off the EVO 3D when the screen just went black! The phone said it had over 70% battery remaining. It has been about 3 hours since and the phone will not turn back on. I have taken out the battery plugged in power and done it all backwards too. I don't know what to do right now. I got this phone TODAY!!!

Did you do the OTA update ? Isn't there a hard reset ? I haven't messed with the OTA yet. Got my phone today from sprint online. Anyways I know the HTC touch pro 2 had a SLEEP issue it was called the SOD screen of death phone would turn screen off and you couldnt get it to wake up at all. You had to pull battery multiple times to get the sucker to work.

I have been trying to hard reset my device all night now! I have been trying this method: google search EVO 3D hard reset and its the first link... basicly it says hold down your vol down button then hold the power button but nothing happens for me.
but to no avail! I have tried taking the batt out multiple times and press the power button. I have tried keeping the batt out with the power cord plugged in. nothing is working!

they just dont wanna becuz they might have to swap you and theres no referbs yet so they would have to give a new one and dont want to cuz they would rather sell it
so they have to take a look at it call CS 1800 theyll walk you threw all the stuff you tried (that didnt work) once its doesnt work with their help thell issue you a repair ticket and then the store will have to look at
Efff that...RETURN both phones as defective.
my evoG had 3 returns before i was happy.
Today my 3d decided to turn off and not turn back on after selecting an application. had to pull the battery to get it back up again..
HW002.. I will be taking mine back in .. seems enough people are having the device just shutdown on them for no good reason.
Remove the sdcard then try and boot the phone.
I ordered it online on the 21st, So what I really want to know, is if i take it to a corporate store with the box and all items that came with it, will they allow me to swap it there, or will I have to call CS and have them send a replacement?

[Q] Sprint Warranty Phones

I have the TEP from Sprint. My screen is messed up. Over the past couple weeks it's sometimes unresponsive, sometimes doing phantom button presses. I can literally turn the screen on sometimes and watch it as it moves the notification bar down, or attempts to swap screens. It even does random button presses in TWRP or CWM recoveries.
I'm going to be taking it in, my question is.. does anybody know whether or not they are giving refurb'd Evo3D for warranty claims? Or is it another phone completely? When i had my original Evo, i had warranty work done and they gave me the 3D because they didn't have anymore Evo's left. Has anybody done warranty work lately?
Thanks.

Yeah they've got Refurbs out the ass right now, I literally begged on the phone for a evo 4g lte because I read a few places that people got lucky, I even hung up and called again many times lol, Evantually the lady explained that they ran out of 3vo's for a while so they had to give better phones.
And they will replace it as long as the screen isn't shattered, Digitizer is their problem (Although the digitizer and screen are the same thing... Their kinda stupid...) I'm on my 3rd 3vo, And I'm literally about to go to a sprint store in a half hour to see about another replacement, I dropped my phone and destroyed the mother board, It don't do ****. lol, At all. nothing. Gone. lmao:laugh:

Thanks for the fast response!
Also, do they typically have these on hand at the repair centers now? Or is it something that needs to be shipped via asurion?

Asurion deals with the insurance, Which you'll be charged $100 for.
Sprint deals with warranty, And most likely they'll check out your phone, and put in a new order and have you come back 3 to 5 days or so later to switch out for the new phone, they "Might" have it on hand, But i've never had this, And the 3vo is getting pretty old so they'll almost definitely have to order one.
And the phone will come without an SD or Battery, So make sure you charge up your battery.
Edit: Thanks button?? No?? lol.
Edit Edit: Hell yeah! lol. Got a new thanks.

Yeah I KNOW! The first time I was pissed, I didn't charge that damn brick to bring it to em' and I get stuck with a new (dead) phone on my hour long trip home, Pissed I tell ya.
If you ever have to go through Asurion (100 damned dollars.) They give you a new 8 GB card and a new battery, I've been through it all lol, 3 Refurbs, and 2 insurance claims (Me and my wife have the same phone, I've broke both of em LMAO)

Mine's the same. Depending on when your contracts up and whether or not you're able to deal with it. (Mine's worst when I'm outside in the cold, but generally passable indoors with occasional lock ups, button presses, etc). You may just want to sit tight and see what is officially announced for a spring release.

Well.. I took it to the sprint store because it became almost unusable. I could turn the screen on and have about 7 seconds until it froze or started randomly opening, moving stuff around. Flashed back to stock (from CM 10.1, didn't want them to know i voided all warranties) and took it in. They saw i had the TEP and said to give them a half hour, and they would have it fixed. They replaced the screen for me in minutes. Now everything is good as new.
I've never had that good of customer service with Sprint.

Glad to hear, I'm waiting on a call on whether my device has arrived or not.
Screens are super dooper easy to replace for next time, and pretty damn cheap too.
Note: They only last a little while in most cases lol, So don't be too excited.
My sprint store has lots of evo 3d parts than evo phones..
Took it yesterday & got a new battery, housing, screen , & motherboard.
Feels bran new.

[Q] Dead phone after pool Water

Hello everyone , sory if someone else posted a similar thread but i am a bit disparate. :crying:
I brought the phone in the pool , after a few foto made under water i noticed condensed water in my fotocamera (back). I didn't turn it off , and the phone has continued to work for other 6 hours. During those 6 hours i traied to make some 4k videos to make him hotter enough for vaporize the camera's condensed water. After almos 6 hours i found the telefon in my pocket shut down by himself and i repeatedly traied to turn it on , but just didn't response. I put it in the rice for almost 6 hourse and still no response from the opening button. I traied to press volume up + down + power button and i heard a vibration, but no response from the screen neither from the notification led. Alse the pc connection with the usb cable don't work.
1) I want to know if i can take out the wather from the camere in some way.
2) I heard a about xperia z2 water sensor that turn red when the water enter from the flops , can some one tell me if this is true and where are those sensors?
3) I still have the waranity if i rooted maintening the bootloader closed? i also saved the key of the bootloader
4) if the water entered from the camera or anywere else but not from the flops i still have the wranity?
5) is there any way to resurrect it?
6) if my wranity is void , does it make sense if i open it manualy and i dry it with rice from inside?
I wanted to put some photos but i can't just spam around
open all flaps and leave it rice for much longer than 6 hours... we're talking 24-48 hours

Do not try to boot it or charge it.Leave it in rise for 48h as my colleague said.Than try to boot / charge.
I took mine in the ocean (I know, but I did), and went snorkeling (I know, but I did) and went deeper than 5 meters (I know, but I did). I then found condensation in the camera lens and was worried. The phone didn't shut off and functioned normally, just the camera had condensation.
After about 2 days before I got home from my snorkeling trip, I put it in a bag of rice for about 36 hours. Now condensation is gone and camera is fine.

I had similar experience with my Z.
It didnt respond at all when off charging but when charging it just went straigt into fastboot mode. I could wipe the phone and factory reset it but not get past fastboot mode.
I had it in rice for daaays to no avail then suddenly, after leaving it on the table for a week, it booted. Worked ok for some days but then it mysteriously went into this coma again and then i bought the Z2.
So yeah, I also figured there was no way it was gonna return but it did.. So weird!
I'm not taking this phone near water, though. Watertight, my arse!
EDIT: BTW, you should avoid connecting it to power, mate.

after 48 hours the phone still don't respond to powering up nether charging.
if i leave it in the rice to absorb all the moisture , is there any chance to have it repaired free by the warranty if i don't say nothing about the water, just say that i think it's a battery fault?
i can say it's my father phone and does not boot nether charge no more

They can see it has been exposed to water.
But there's a good chance, I guess? I mean, if the flaps were closed then just explain to them what happened, it's not your fault.

hard to say since there might be components that were damaged...... take it to store!
if its still under warranty, take it to the service center, if it doesn't, I'm afraid it will gonna be costly..

Phone shuts down after screen timeout due to water damage

Hi All,
Looking for some expert advice here. I dropped my phone into salt water couple days ago on the beach and now every time the display times-out the phone will shutdown or reboot. However if the display remains on the phone is completely fine. AOD or screensaver will not prevent the phone shutting down - only when display is on home screen. Already tried rinsing the phone with tap water and then drying it with rice technique to no avail.
I am 100% sure my warranty has been voided due to water damage but I plan to bring it to the Samsung service centre to have it checked out and possible repaired - depending on price.
With that said I am looking for some tweaks/settings/tasker mods that will allow the phone display to never time out but screenlock after a certain period of time. I know I can set the display to never timeout but I want the phone to be locked.
If you have any other suggestions I would very much appreciate it!
Thanks.
Same issue
I have the exact same issue as you describe. Phone was in backpack that was on the beach tjust got soaked when the tide came in and I was in the water and didn't notice. Did you ever resolve this issue? If so, how did you resolve it. Any suggestions for me? Thank you.

Mine turned out to be a faulty fingerprint sensor which was damaged by the salt water. After resetting my phone a few times I realized that the reboot would only happen after I registered my fingerprint. If I don't register no problems!
Samsung replaced the part as it was still under warranty and no issues since. Of course I didn't mention anything about water damage nor did they bring it up during the inspection.
Hope it helps!
Interesting. Thank you very much. Following the beach episode I was having problems with the fingerprint sensor also. I will disable it and see what happens. I am also going to go forward with sending the phone to Samsung for them to inspect it and repair it necessary. I hope to have an outcome similar to yours. Thanks again for the response.

Holy crap! Same exact issue here. I noticed it after the beach. I thought it was a coincidence that it happened then, with the phone being waterproof...I never thought it would be that.
Good to know. Mine is still under warranty...did you tell them that it got wet, or plead the 5th?
