Went to Wal-Mart last night and while I was there I asked if they were going to carry the Note. The person in the connection center said that they were just told by their AT&T rep that Wal-Mart will be carrying the Note in store on the day of launch.
Not sure if this is for all Wal-Mart stores, or just ones in my area.
Usually Wal-Mart is a little cheaper on price, so I'll be heading there to get mine.

Watch out if you have unlimited data on your account. I've seen many customers come in after going to walmart or any other third party with their unlimited data taken off.

I can say this is true. The fact is that Walmart doesn't have the ability in store to keep the unlimited data. The truth is that all Walmart can do is upgrade your phone and give you a cheaper price than AT&T. Anything that deals with your contract can't be handled through Walmart.
The Kiosk used to do the upgrade process is pre programmed with select options and there is no way anyone at Walmart can make core changes to the contract. So if the Kiosk forces them to put you on a LTE or Smartphone Data plan you will lose your unlimited data. From what I hear even calling customer care is causing issues for getting unlimited data back.
I can tell you this for fact and from personal experience. I work the connection counter and do upgrades all the time. So is the saving of $40 really worth your unlimited data? That is the real question.
Sent from an Atrix running jokersax CM9 KANG & XDA Premium
If you happen to lose your unlimited data going through them, you can always get it back. Just takes a call to 611 and you explaining that you "didn't authorize a change to your plan".

That's what happened to me when I bought my Dell Streak at Best Buy. Almost took an act of congress to get my unlimited plan back. The ironic part was that the AT&T retail stores had no clue what it was, so Best Buy or Dell was the only place you could buy one.

Yeah the process for them to add back your unlimited data plan is serious process. They have to file a internal case to have their domestic data department to actually make sure everything transpired inappropriately. Its quite a hassle and can take up to a week.

By cheaper..Will Walmart be selling it for like $20 cheaper initially? (As in for like 1st week of release)
Some people seem to think that Amazon Wireless or other 3rd party retailers may sell them for as cheap as $200 rather soon after the initial release.
Purchase at best buy...have them match the walmart price
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
I doubt very much you will get it any cheaper then bestbuy your getting a $80 discount when you account for the $50 bucks and free case
I actually work at a Walmart Wireless (new prototype of the connection centre) and we've not heard anything about carrying the Note on launch day. not to say it won't happen, but doesn't seem likely in my area of the country at least.
On a side note, I've upgraded a lot of people with grandfathered unlimited data and never had anyone lose it. The associate just has to call in to AT&T and do the upgrade manually. Customer keeps their data and the store still gets the commission.

So I will be buying this phone cash no upgrade. Where should I go? I see it on sprint for 550 but everywhere else has the non upgrade price higher. I would have thought bb would see it cheaper than sprint.
Do you think any of the sprint stores will even have any on the 18th lol.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I believe I saw you could pre-order it from Sprint with out going on contract.
Pretty much the best place to buy it out right would be from the carrier if you want it new. Everywhere else is pretty much $100+ more out right.

Best places would be eBay if your willing to take a risk, I did and my Droid Razr Maxx was flawless. $450
Amazon.com may have good deals
but if your trying to stay away from the internet. AAFES aka The Exchange, but you have to be in or know someone who is in the military
If you are buying it out right because you are not due for an upgrade for a while keep this in mind, I was going to cancel my contract early then restart with a new 2 year agreement to get the upgrade price and when I told a Sprint rep that that is what I wanted to do, he said that if I pay $45 that it will give me an early upgrade elegibility and so I did it and I preordered the Evo and now wait for tomorrow for the release might wanna see if you can do that instead of payin all that money to get it off contract. This is legit at least in my case, I don't know if it work for everyone but it did for me. Worth a shot!
But keep in mind it will restart your 2 year agreement....your choice!
I am eligible for a upgrade. I just dont want to be on contract. With all the stuff Sprint has been taking away and them rolling out LTE Alot more could change soon.
I have been with them for 14 years and I have put up with there slow data speeds for the unlimited thing. But My GF has t-mobil and her speeds blow sprint away in my area (3g and 4g). On top of that she pays about 30 less then me a month. She only gets 5gb of data but I use wifi a lot and never really go over 3gb... Sooooo It might be worth it to change...
I'm planning on buying as an upgrade, but I missed pre-ordering so I'm going to buy from a physical store hopefully on release day. Anybody know if all sprint stores are going to have the phone available to buy on shelves? Or would it be better to try buying at Best Buy...?
If you buy the phone full price you'll pay 550. If you do a contract, get the phone for 200, cancel the first month and pay 350 etf, you've basically paid the same amount. Might as well go on contract
That's true .... I have been with them so long I forgot about etf..... so should I get it at sprint or best buy? I have also bought with sprint...

Evo lte will not work on t mobiles network from what I read. They are different frequencies.
**** Apple, I won't buy anymore of their products. They delayed the release of a better phone.
Well if the lte does not roll out like they say it will... Or they dump unlimited data.. I will pay the etf and then sell the phone on eBay... That way I can get on tmobil or ever is cheaper... My bill is like 130 a month on sprint and my gf pays around 100 after everything... Now that only 5gb of data but still more than enough for me...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
What do you get with 130? With mobile to mobile minutes being free, I barely get to 100 on my plan and pay about 80 a month
I was at walmart earlier, casual passed cell phones and saw an evo lte. I thought, wtf? I asked if they had them and they ended up not having it but asked if I wanted them to call another store. I was about to make another errand that would pass another walmart so I said sure. She called and sure enough, in stock! I honestly expected it to just be mis-information and be an evo design, or viper lte/etc.
So i go to the other store, (i-30 and bucker in east dallas) and sure enough, two in stock!
Now the bad news, they couldnt get the system to work for me. They'd put in my info and it would return an error saying information couldnt be retrieved. Girl was very helpful and even called sprint to verify I had an upgrade. No dice though on getting the system to accept it.
I will say, I tried to preorder online and got some dumb error at checkout too. Then wirefly had an error but they were able to solve it, so might just be me.
Sadly, I left without one.. but there is two there for others! Dont overlook wally world!
Agree with that. Also check you local Sams Club as well i think they will have them at the price 147.97 upgrade and new line. So that is where i will be going to get mine on wed. When the national evo day starts.

I'm dying to be able to cancel my Wirefly pre-order and just get the damn phone already!!!
I just went to a Walmart that had 3 in stock. The lady was going to sell me one. I gave her my number, and I couldn't be found in the system. She said since my number was long distance it wouldn't work.
I've never heard of that, but maybe it's true. I didn't have a lot of time to argue otherwise, so I left without one.

Just want to give thanks for this thread. Was able to get one from Walmart yesterday in Columbia MD.
FYI - Walmart dosen't sell many phones at all so therefore their CSR are clueless to how they sell phones. It took me about an hour to get mine but what saved me for even getting the phone was that I had Sprints backdoor Number in handy and called them 3 times and handed my phone to the CSR Rep so the Sprint Rep could coach him on what to do.
I suggest yall definitely do that if you go to Walmart
My local Walmart had a full stock of them as I believe no one knows Walmart has the phone and the funny thing is that there is a Sprint Store located right next to walmart in the plaza and they have still yet to receive their 1st shipment.

Some do, some don't, just depends. In Orlando most sell Sprint, but one or two don't.
With AT&T getting new plans apparently next month (if they are good), I may check them out since they have LTE in my area. Will this phone work since I bought it at full price?

If you pay full retail all you have to do is fax in a copy of the receipt and TMO will provide the unlock code within 5-7 business days. Usually takes about a 24hrs though.
Not sure if you can even find a TMO One right now, it seems like they are in pretty short supply.

I paid full price for 2 and they refused to give me the unlock code. they said I had to wait till I completed 40 days of service. or unless you were a member with more than 40 days of service they will the unlock code with 2 or 3 days.
they said they would unlock mine at the end of the month, because that is when I would complete my 40th day,
I was very upset, I called over 5 times, refusing to wait, they said it is computer generated, I paid $620 for each, was $579 plus tax, I told them I paid about $1300 I should not have to wait, I had them put there supervisor on, the manager, I was very pisssssed off, that really makes me want to leave them,

Unfortunately I don't think you understood what I was saying. Full retail is $650. The $580 price you paid is the discounted price "with a qualifying plan" contrary to popular belief TMO is still discounting phones to customers. One price with a plan and Full MSRP without an account or service. It is full MSRP without service in which you should be eligible for the subsidy code, not the discounted price "with an eligible plan". It is the service and discount that is causing the problem/delay.
Sorry if what I said confused you or misled you that was definately not my intention, I was just informing of the policy I am aware of. Its possible that too has changed but as of a couple weeks ago it hadn't.
I would look on the international m7 page I thought I saw a thread about unlocking the other day.

I think you have it wrong. The 32Gb unlocked HTC One is 579, which is the correct model to compare. I think that is the same as all the other 32Gb models, and i believe that is the retail cost. Of course with T-Mobile one has to pay taxes.
Full retail is 650 for the 64Gb dev model.

I don't have any idea what the 32g unlocked version cost or the 64 for that matter. I have no doubt you are right on that pricing, but the phone we were discussing was the T-Mobile HTC One sold through t-mobile direct. Which I am pretty confident of the pricing. T-Mobile also sells a locked Nexus 4 for 427 before tax. Bet you can find it cheaper through google. What I am saying is that there are 2 independent prices on the HTC One through The-Mobile depending on how you purchase it...."with a qualifying plan" and "full retail" which when this thread started was $580 and $650.

I bought one through the store, the price advertised on the internet on tmobiles website was 579, after tax came out to 620... I did join the family plan, I had to order it on the 24th through one store and they mailed it, then 2 days later another store had them in stock and picked up my second for the same price.. paid on the credit card straight out 579 plus tax 620.. the other one paid cause the mailing process 140, then paid it out when I received it when to the tmobile store and paid the rest off..
they didn't have no 64gig, att and sprint had them for 549 I believe, htc.com had the 64gig for 649. if tmobile had the 64 gig I would've bought one for me, and left the wifey with 32 gigs.. haha.. I thought that was regular price at tmobile for 579...
I didn't want the hassel of having problems cause tmobile changed one of there frequencies for the new lte.. cause 2 months ago they screwed everyone using att phones that put the phones at 2g services. I made my own s3 rom from the tmobile phone that had in the modem properties gsm and wcdma, so I used to get 4g, so I sold my sg s3 and s2 which were att models.

The only high price I saw was through Best Buy, who wanted $699 to buy just the phone on pre-orders. I did not realize that there was a "full price" listed on T-Mobile at 650. I was offered the phone for 579 if I wanted to buy it all at once.
I was crunching numbers because I am thinking about leaving AT&T for something cheaper, and I noticed that with the One Up program you only pay $65 for the unlimited service instead of 80, and more importantly you don't have to pay the $349 for the phone up front. All you should have to pay for is the activation fee initially.
If their One Up prices fall in line with other companies (we don't know what it will be for the note 3 yet, but I assume $27) then you are looking at about $92 a month. Over a year, if you include the price of the phone if you don't have One Up you are paying $1345 (80 a month, plus $345 for the phone, plus $36 for activation). If you are in the One Up program then its only $1140 for the year ($65 a month, estimating 27 a month for one up fee, $36 for activation).
I'm not sure if I'm going to join Sprint or not because of this, but it is pretty compelling. I'm also looking at Tmobile as an option because they have LTE in my area, while Sprint doesn't.

From what i heard about network quality from members on this board, i'd recommend looking at t-mobile instead. Also read through the Sprint triband note 3 fiasco. I think it may always be better to purchase your phone outright and go prepaid. Then when you're ready to upgrade just sell it.
They would have to pay me to stay with Sprint at this point as their network in Colorado is abysmal. Of the silly constant-upgrader plans, the Sprint solution is one of the more compelling from a price standpoint, though.

Yeah I finally got mine. There was a problem early this morning, I was there when they opened @ 9. It was a problem affecting all Sprint stores. Okay now I am NOT an expert at this but this is how I understand it and you seem to be at the same point I was. First be aware that if you want to do the one up you must must must change your plan to the unlimited plans they have now. On the unlimited plans the first phone is $50 a second phone is $40 and the third phone is the $30. Then on top of that you need to add $30 for unlimited data or $20 for 1 gigabyte or something like that. Because of this I did not do the one up program because I do not really care about Unlimited Talk I only care about unlimited data and it would cost me way more money to get unlimited data with their new plans. As far as the one to program yes since you're not eligible for renewal right now you will need to trade in your phone. I was told by sprint representative that you could put any phone on your line that was in working order and use that to trade in. Whether or not that is the truth is yet to be seen.

No One Up for me
I also have the 1500 Everything plan and similar to cherylbaker, I didn't opt for the One Up plan either because I did not want to change plans. If you read the fine print, the new plans are not as good and open the door to throttle data. I'm staying on the Everything plan until they kill it; I hope that never happens but with Sprint pushing "unlimited for life" with the new plans makes me think Everything is going away at some point. I was afraid adding a third line would force me to change plans but so far that is not the case.
The other thing with the One Up is that you need to turn in your current handset.
Try updating ur prl shouldn't that help
