Symptoms:
Wi-Fi works all fine, both 2g and 3g (EDGE, HSDPA and HSPA+) only partially working, let's say, some of my apps were able to work as they need internet, and some of them always report "can't connect to server " or something like that.
What I have done intent to solve this problem: fully wipe and flash ROM, I tried lots of them, all same results.
Flash different modem and radio, still same.
Conclusion: I was thinking could be problem of operator but I have ask some friends who uses same operator and same area, they don't have problem, I even flash the same ROM and radio exactly same as one of them who owns S3 as well, still no good...
Anything more I can do?

Usual is
Network ask.
Sim Card replace
Modem correct one for network
CSC again correct one for network .
jje
Also, check your APN settings are right and up to date for your network. Presume you have already reverted to fully stock to test?

What do you mean by "network" ask?
I don't think it's about modem and CSC because I used to switch modem a lot...
I will try insert my SIM into other phone and other SIM card into my phone to determine what is the problem

i got my new sgs2 and after updating to 2.3.4 xxkg3 everytime i use my globe sim(my network provider in philippines) it says mobile network not available but if i insert the other network sim card it is working properly, i felt bad coz im woking in globe company and im using the competitors sim, can any one here help me? thanx
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Well if you work in Globe you will have all the correct APN settings to enter the network in your phone .
You have simply put a firmware in the phone that does not have a CSC for your area/network .Requires manual entry of network settings .
jje
how do i input the settings? can u give me the correct csc, tnx
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
You need to contact your network for the settings .
Correct CSC will be what came with your original firmware .

i already flash d correct firmware and csc but still same result, my globe sim card still not working, it says mobile network failed

You're talking network as in internet access or general receiption?
Sound to me as general receiption, APNs have nothing to do with that.
What GSM band is your provider using?
SGS2 is quadband IIRC, so GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 and some else should work, but you never know (might also be something with the modem SW, try finding a ROM for your provider to try)....
Hi, I got the same problem with my SGS2... I purchased it a coupla months ago and it was working fine until 2 days ago. I'm very confused why this is happening... does it mean I just get an original rom and everything would be fine? thanks...

Hi Ricey, it's the whole reception.
when I tried to make a phone call, it said "mobile network not available". can only dial emergency numbers.
I also notice that when I flash a new rom, always said something about cannot access multiCSC.

First off phone is stock and un rooted.
My issue is that the phone will switch to 3g or E so much and then often not switch to H when I use an app requiring Internet so the app won't load anything. Anyone else have these issues or is there a fix? I'm in Australia btw.

If your phone is unrooted, there are limited things you can do to solve it. If it is rooted, you can actually try to flash different modems for your phone and see which one works best for you or just find out from this forum what modem is best for your carrier.

Sorry, I have looked around and you can actually flash modem through Odin if your phone is unrooted.
Oh really?? Thanks for letting me know, I haven't messed with flashing before so I doubt I will now haha i might wait for official updates...

Most official modems for my region are terrible, I'll bet your's aren't better. Asian modems have a far greater stability, especially the DXLF3 modem.
You can't do anything wrong when flashing a modem. Just get Odin, head to the modem collection thread, pick your modem and flash away.

Sounds like antenna ping-pong. Basically that means that your carrier keeps moving you from one antenna to the other.
Alternatively, check if you have any Proxy configured in the APN settings as slow proxies can cause the same issue: go to Settings->More->Mobile network->Access point names, choose the one reading 'internet' (or something like that)
Check if any Proxy server IP is filled in. If yes, write it down and delete it from the profile. If Internet doesn't work, reconfigure it.
If it's better, congrats
Oh really! I didn't realise the Asian modems would work well in Australia thought they would be specific to region, obviously not! I will try the flash if nothing else works..
I checked in the settings like u asked but there is nothing under proxy? Should here be an ip is that the possible problem?

there is still difference in term of speed between 3g and H. if you want consistent H+, change modem to BWLE5, if you not in LFB based rom.

with this modem, your phone will go straight from 3g to H+, it doesn't even know H anymore. lol. try it to feel the drain on your own.

I got a problem:
I installed H1 modem a while ago and signal got worse and worse every day till now. Now it doesn't even find my home network at all. my old galaxy s2 finds it though. And when i restore a former backup which schould have a different modem within cwm says:
restoring data....android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of android_secure.
Could this be a virus??

No its not a virus, and a cwm backup doesn't backup your modem.
Flash a new one via Odin.

What do mean by that? Your home has different network?
If mobile network working fine outside your home, then is not your phone fault. Try contact your carrier.

Sorry with home network i meant my home carrier (like T- Mobile e.g.)
I tried that already with different modems which have been in use already. -> same Problem- phone finds differnent carrier networks but not my network.
hardwareproblem i can not imagine because it finds other networks. SIM card also works correct (i finds my network in other phones).
One thing that could be problem theoretically: I cut my Sim Card myself from mini sim to micro sim but till now i had no problems what makes me think it cant be my problem...
Ideas?

If you are using a 64kb SIM it tends to happen. Probably its aged and if you did cut it you might have as well damaged the SIM's core.
I'd suggest to get a replacement SIM from your carrier, preferably a Micro SIM and see if that helps.

This...and if the OP has an at&t phone unlocked to use on t-mobile's network (guessin, since no info given by the op), he will only get the 2g --- that is, unless t mobile converts their 1900 mhz frequency in his area to be a 3g/4g freq instead of edge...as they have done this in other areas.
More info provided by google, if interested.

Hello, i have just moved to amman, jordan and i bought an umniah network simcard but i have a strange problem. It keeps drops the signal all the time. The same sim on other phones works perfectly and other samsung phones like the note 2 or grant work as they should. I was thinking that the problem might be the modem. Im on rootbox 4.1. I haven't tried a sammy rom yet cause i dont have a good internet connection yet. Anyone knows a good modem version to try? Thanks in advance..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
No one will be able to pinpoint a 'good' modem for you. Each person will need a different modem depending on their carrier and region. For example, I'm using XXMS2, while my brother, with the same phone but different carrier, is on DVLS3. I have a horrible signal with his modem, as he does with mine.
What you'll have to do is flash a few and test which works for you. They're not big files so you'll be fine to download a few without a good connection. Don't flash ril+modem, you want modem only.

Try the modems bundled with stock roms released by the carrier in question then the stock roms released by other carriers in that country first. That should help you narrow it down/save you some time.
