You can use file manager to do this
remove /system/bootstrap directory
remove /system/bin/e2fck
rename /system/bin/e2fck.bin to e2fck

In the market, you can download "rom manager" from clockworkmod... this ap will allow you to flash the latest CWM to your phone...
Ive read some people having problems with 4.0.1.5 version.... so here is the link to the latest stable (I think) version 4.0.1.4

I've searched threads and can only find an unroot guide for the AT&T version. Anyone know how to unroot the Rogers version?
Thanks in advance.
Unroot? Why would u want to do that? . Same rules apply, just Odin stock rogers, flash cwm, flash counter reset, flash stock recovery
So I can replace the unit.
I didn't know there was a way to do this without tripping the flash counter on the Recovery restore.
Any links to a tutorial or thread on how to do this?

So do the following in exact order.
1.) Odin back stock
2.) Odin custom cwm recovery (doesn't matter which one)
3.) Flash this through cwm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24145452
4.) Use Odin and flash stock recovery ONLY, if u flash anything else counter will trip again.
Thus brief guide will not only unroot, but also serve to restore phone to complete original state should u need to warranty it or such the like
Or if u are complete stock only rooted, use this guide:
Get USB drivers and install from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24539068
Reboot computer
Enable USB debugging under settings on phone
Download adb from this post:
http://depositfiles.com/files/n0dcxce3t
Its actually superuseroneclick, but when u unzip adb is inside
Connect USB cable to computer and one drivers are installed, open command prompt
Navigate to folder where u unzipped adb and run "adb shell"
Then type "rm /system/app/Superuser.apk"
Exit command prompt and reboot phone, successfully unrooted
Awesome. Thanks.
I will give this a try tonight.

Unfortunately, the stock Rogers Tar doesn't seem to be available. Anyone know how to access it?
Aside from not being able to find the stock rogers ROM...can you clarify step 2..."2.) Odin custom cwm recovery (doesn't matter which one)"?

Step 2 is basically doing this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584576
"http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1506330" This is actually not the rogers ROM... although it is labelled rogers, it is actually the telus rom. That is, the roms labelled rogers and telus are the same. I cant seem to find the Rogers ROm anywhere.
yeah, saw ur post in the stock odin thread. Sorry bud, its a waiting game now, i don't even own a note lol, im rockin a skyrocket.

rm /system/app/Superuser.apk, Read-only file system
FYI...debugging is enabled.
Any suggestions?
Sorry, I forgot to put in "su" command, do that before u "rm"

You can also remove it using an app like RootExplorer. Just mount to R/W mode and wipe the files listed in the terminal command line code that you just posted.

Are you familiar with adb ?
You can dump x-loader and u-boot from your working rooted p768 by doing following :
Code:
adb shell su -c busybox dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 of=/sdcard/external_sd/p2.bin
adb shell su -c busybox dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/external_sd/p1.bin
then follow this thread starting with #34 except use your own p1 and p2

In principle the dd command should work
However I haven't tried it before and don't know if it is safe to do, so if you do it it's at your own risk.
Code:
dd if=<kernel file> of=<kernel partition>

So here we introduce: "dd if = <filename> of = <Where is it>"
Will look like?
Code:
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblkNNN
True or false?

Almost correct, of=/dev/block/mmcblkNNNpNNN.
If you don't know which it is you can find which partition is the kernel written to with package_extract_file or write_raw in any CWM flashable kernel for your phone.
You better make sure fastboot is working for you before you try it or you may not be able to recover if it is not safe to do and the phone reboot before it finish.
