The new Tablet Z have this function, will be nice if some one can port it to Xperia P too, get rid of power button
I know some app use proximity/light sensor to lock/unlock, but is there an app that allow us unlock device by double tap on screen?
There are many apps on the Play store that have this function. This one is similar to your request

You mean unlocking the device with double tap? The device's touchscreen sensor will need to be on all the time, but the display off. But I'm sure there are many apps do that at play store

That app use proximity sensor?, i mean tap on screen like Tablet Z
Kernel dependent! Framework needs moding to make it compatible! Use the google play apps!

Is there any way to start the camera app from the lock screen? Whenever I use the camera icon and swipe it over, it prompts me to enter my PIN number.
I just want to be able to take photos, without unlocking, iPhone style.

Thank you, but it did not work. First I must unlock Touchwiz lock, and then unlock Holo Locker lock. Very useless.
This shouldn't have happened I use it and I don't have any such issues on my Samsung GT-S5302

What phone do you have? You can find a ROM that will allow for this.. I have an SGS on CM10 and it lets me do this but you can try the Widgetlocker app nevertheless.
Samsung Galaxy SII epic 4g touch
Hi,
On Android devices if you lock screen is protected by a password it is impossible to launch the native camera when locked.
The only way I've found to quickly have access to the camera without unlocking the phone was to develop a simple camera app to which I've given the authorisation to be shown when locked.
This app is availble on the google play here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aeropic.CameraUnlockFree
I know it is not perfect but it does the job
Dear Your Eminent Developers,
Please kindly develop this GREAT power-button-saving, life-saving feature of Double Tap to Wake (DT2W).
Simply double tap on screen to wake up the phone.
Much appreciated!

That would be a battery killer as the digitizer would have to be always on, so no sleep ability.

The feature is available on Nokia Lumina, as well as, the new LG G2. Moreover, many kernel developers of the HTC One have had success at incorporating the feature. The depletion on the battery is very negligible to none. Personally, I have used the feature on the HTC One for many months prior to the Sony Ultra, and did not notice any "battery killer" effect.
Looking forward to our developers incorporating this great feature.

I already have this feature on my sony xperia z ultra. Except I don't tap twice. I just tap once on a certain area of the screen.

So are you going to do the modification or are you just here to naysay?
Hi, gosh, that's a great app.
However, I cannot find the setting for tab on the screen to wake.
The app mostly relies on proximity and motion sensor to wake phone.

Is it possible to auto-hide the navbar if I start a widescreen game/app?
Maybe with a xposed module.
In the Z2 stock rom the navbar hides when I start an app.
I'm using CM11.

app settings via xposed
just change the screen mode to imersive or forced
Thx again for your helpful answer (like in the eXistenZ Rom thread) but I think I'm using the wrong module now.
I've tried a module called "Immerse Me", this is my solution, but activates in vertical screen too without open any apps.
The other module called "App Settings" is to annoying to setup some permissions for every single app.
You got a screenshot of the correct app and name? Or better a link

Anyone know of any kind of mod, xposed module or anything else that enables me to enter the specified setting by long holding corresponding setting from quick settings? Tried xperia quicksettings long click in xposed, did not work on 4.4.4.

I found out that the Xposed module "Xperia Xposed" by SERAJR offers this functionality when activating the "system UI" customization part in the app. Here's the link

I was wondering if there is a mod that allows you to tap the home button instead of pressing it. similar to virtual home jailbreak mod for iphone found here:
http://www.idownloadblog.com/2014/01/01/virtual-home-an-amazing-touch-id-jailbreak-tweak/
Want it too maybe no for now but will possible in the future!

Here we are guys! Finally there is an app which allow to tap the home button instead of pressing it! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.easyhome
Yes its quite similar to the tap to unlock feature found on the new nexus phones. But the downside to this app is that this doesnt work if u r using fingerprint unlock, which i use all the time.
+1. i am using fingerprint unlock too
Same, giving up the fingerprint unlock is something I don't want to do...
Use this app. Pretty accurate for me,don't know why people gave it low rating.
