Did a search and didn't find anything related.
So, I have always used the Fingerprint Scanner to unlock my phone.
The process goes (as i'm sure you're all very familiar)
1. Press the Rear Power Button/FP Scanner to wake the phone
2. Swipe my Finger Downward and the phone unlocks
What happens as of late is I press the power button to wake the phone
and then w/o swiping my phone begins to vibrate and the screen informs me that I'm swipping my finger too fast over and over again with continuous vibration. It will still read my FP but it sometimes takes a couple of tries.as it already thinks i've put it in.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for a fix?

Ok, so lately I've noticed when I've had to call a few numbers that need me to Press 1, 2, 3 etc on the dialpad that I can't do it right away. When I put the phone to my ear, as I would expect the screen switches itself off. When I pull the phone away from my face the screen comes on again immediately, but there's about a 5-7 second delay before I can actually press anything. In those seconds after the screen comes on, it wont accept any touch input whatsoever. It's not delayed, presses I make during those seconds just aren't registered at all, then suddenly it begins accepting input as normal. It isn't just number keys either, it's the entire screen, so I can't press End Call until nearly 10 seconds after I've actually pulled the phone away from my face, nor can I move the phone away and press the Speaker Phone button quickly.
This only happens when the screen comes on after being against my face though. If the screen is just turned off and I press the power button, or double tap to wake, it accepts input immediately, so I don't believe it's a hardware problem.
Currently running 4.4.4 rooted, image was made from stock and pre-rooted prior to being flashed onto the phone.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
yeah i've experienced this as well. doesn't happen on speaker though.
No, doesn't happen on speaker phone. If the screen goes off from that and I turn it back on then the screen responds immediately. It only seems to happen in cases where the screen auto shuts off due to it detecting that it's against your face.
This is my 1st phone with fingerprint scanner so excuse me if I sound like a noob.
How exactly do you use the fingerprint scanner?
1) When the screen is completely off, do you have to press (click) and hold the power button to unlock the phone?
2) If you wake the phone to the lock screen (such as double tab on the screen), you simply tab the power button to unlock it right?
If that's the case, that's kind of a bummer since I was expecting to simply tab the power button to unlock the phone (even when the screen is off).
Click Button & Release (to turn screen on) but keep finger touching the button. Sometimes a double tap might be necessary. Even with my Otterbox Case it works 100%.

I have the AT&T LG V10, it's wrapped in a Obliq case.
The FPS works 100% when the screen is completely off (by clicking and holding the power button).
However, it never works when I tried to unlock at the lock screen (by tapping the power button when the lock screen is on). The only way I can get it to work is to peel off the side of the case, and make contact with the steel frame.
It's really strange how I don't need to make contract with the steel frame for a complete unlock (when phone screen is off), but I am required to make contact when the lock screen is on.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I never press the power button..simply double tap the screen while placing my finger on the power button, Just to save the button from wear and tear.

Wow. Didn't realize my situation was the same until I read your post. Basically, case on = fingerprint scanner didn't work, case off = scanner works great. But I was always pressing the power button once, releasing, then attempting to activate the fingerprint scanner. Just tried doing it in one step as you described and - it worked!
Not a complete solution, but certainly makes some things easier.
I wonder if the folks on the 'fingerprint reader not working with case' thread know about this.
Verizon V10 btw.

Today and yesterday I had a weird issue with my v10, as I was playing a game the screen started moving around as if someone had been tapping randomly. I couldn't tap the screen or swipe up to press the home button. When I pressed the power button the fingerprint sensor unlocked the phone again but the phone was still spazzing out. Then I went to the lock screen and tried holding the power button to turn off the phone and the power menu appeared but I couldn't tap anything. After that I pulled the battery and it was fixed. Does anyone know what caused this or how to prevent this form happening again?
I came to Samsung from HTC and one of the inconveniences I am having with the s9+ is turning the screen off. Of course I can turn screen off with the power button, but I prefer to turn off by a double press or a long press. Since I could not find a way of doing those I tried to use an app to turn screen off. The app works well in turning off screen, but the problem is after turning screen off, I cannot unlock the phone with the fingerprint scanner or any of the other unlocking sensors. I can only unlock with PIN if I turn off screen with the app. This is the app that I have been using. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en
Appreciate if anyone can help me find a way around for this problem of fingerprint and other sensors not working after screen off with an app.
It's a security measure.. I suggest using this:

There's a lock button that won't disable the finger print and stuff. Hope this helps
I use an app named screen off. It puts a button on your home screen to shut it off. Then just double tap the home button to turn it back on.

Thanks. I tried that and it works without disabling the fingerprint and other sensors. Only thing is it takes two touches to turn off the screen.
Take a look at Lock Screen Pro, it has an option in its settings that will allow fingerprint and iris scanner to work after locking with an app symbol you added to your homescreen. If you use bxActions you can also lock your device with the bixby button!
Use Nova Launcher, better than Touchwiz and has a setting built in for double tap screen off, no problems here with finger print sensor. No need for secondary app.
Long-press on home button
Try a long-press on the home button. A long-press turns on and off the Samsung S9+.
I knew of its function to light the screen, but was unaware that it would close the display.
Greenify is installed on my phone, and a message appears, stating that Greenify is still working, and that I can press the power button, if I want to stop it, then the screen is off.
So my G8X was working normally until all of a shudden today I started facing this bug or whatever it is. So the problem is:
Earlier when I used to touch and hold on Home Screen, it would give me these options like Widgets, Wallpaper&Theme, Home Screen Settings. But all of a sudden today when I tapped and held on home screen my phone got locked. I pressed the power button but my phone wouldn't wake. I realised that whenever I tap and hold on home screen the phone would get lock and show a message "Fingerprint operation cancelled" on the black lock screen above the finger print animation and then to wake it up I have to press the power button two times (only in the case of touch and hold locking) . I thought that phone's "Knock On" Extension was messing with it so I turned it off but to no use. The problem still persisted. I tried clearing cache and then tried clearing cache of "Home" from Apps&Notifications settings but Nada.
At last I did a factory reset and did a fresh setup but to my surprise the problem still persisted. Why the heck is this happening and that too all of a sudden. The functioning of Tap and Hold on home screen for settings was fine all this time and then all of a sudden this started happening.
Can any anybody help? Shed some light?
So I Factory reset it for the second time and it didn't solve the problem. And I noticed that locking phone by pressing power key and pressing it again to wake it up works if I press it in like 5 seconds right after locking it. If I lock the phone and leave it like for more than 5 seconds or so then I'll have to press the power key two times to wake it up. WTH and why has it started happening out of the blues? ??

Dont worry ez solve mate
i uploaded a video mate watch it after reading it https://youtu.be/lnXSBsGdMJQ
There is a sensor in top (near the selfi camera) if it is blocked the phone will think that it is in pocket so it will disable the fingerprint sensor(if you newly installed screen protector may cause the sensor to block ) so it disable fingerprint and double press to screen on
