So, I have a i9100 with the official jelly bean update, and then rooted. I installed the pimp my Rom app in order to install the beats audio feature. This was successful, but I decided I didn't like it so decided to uninstall. Foolishly, rather than uninstalling from within the pimp my rom app, I uninstalled the beats file using sd maid. What I didn't realise is that, rather than a standalone app, the beats bit is a modification of the media provider system apk. After deleting this, I am now unable to play any media file at all. How can I fix this???
Thanks muchly
best and easiest way is reflash rom

Ok, thanks.
So I just need to find the official Samsung update files and flash these with Odin? Will I lose my files or have any other issues?
Will following this tutorial give the desired result?

Now then guys... i am thinking about rooting my phone to put jelly bean on my samsung galaxy s2 .... i was just wondering views on which is the best one to go for ( LINKS PLEASE ) and is it easy to do you know the usual questions you will have heard them before lol IM A NEWBIE !!!
Cheers People
Download Siyah 3.5.2.
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/07/29/siyahkernel-s2-v3-5/
Tar for Odin.
Then use this guide.
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-i9100-root-android-4-0-3-ics-xwlpd-88120/
Nevermind it says Cf-root. I flashed my Siyah kernel that way.
After that, flash any rom you want in recovery. Just do a Nandroid backup in recovery and backup apps with Titanium backup from Market!!!

Don't restore apps after flashing newer ROM, cause your phone will bootloop.
Better create text file and write names of installed apps.
Im not sure why everyone is worried about backing up there apps ive flashed about a 100 roms and never had to back them up cause if u go to the play store under my apps there always there
Infact there are apps there id forgotten about just pick which ones u want and re install .some roms auto instal them for u .make sure you have a google acc obviously!

What type of data? Music and photos are saved to the external SD card for me, and as for game save data, I believe that is externally backed up as well.

Only if the application is on the external memory card then it's backed up there. Otherwise they'll loose the data if that's not the case.

If you restore from google play, you loose all your app settings and you will have to reconfigure each app.
Also, Google Play will not show apps installed offline (apk)
Restoring app data with third party app like titanium backup is safe if app is compatible with the target rom

CWM-and have you bothered reading a Rom thread as there's normally install instructions.
And when I get bored of a rom I just restore my nand backup of something previous.

in order to install a perticular custom rom , all u have to do is to follow the install instruction's of the same in there OP. and the same applies to all other roms also.
since installation instruction do vary from one custom rom to another
Jasper, you are better to read up on things so you are familiar with the processes of like rooting/kernels/roms/cwm/Odin/troubleshooting.
I understand reading 1000s of posts is tedious, but you could end up with a non working phone.

After installing some custom rom, my internet browser always crashes upon downloading files, so i deleted it. Then i searhed for lots places but can't find the latest browser apk. anyone has it? Please help me!
Thx
Try reflashing the rom again mate.
Then if your getting crashes and closures then go to Setting-Application Manager-All-Browser-Clear Data
That should fix force closeures.

My suggestion would be to use ultima ROM mate. Do a full wipe and clean install. You have the option to choose what apps you want. Highly customizable and is pre themed.

Lol no offense but lol haha.. 4.2.2 isn't even out yet officially but only as beta that can be sideloaded so what do you expect?

"Lol no offense" but what on earth are you talking about? Firstly he didnt mention anything about 4.2.2, He said LS8 which is 4.2.1 and HAS been officially released, doesnt make a difference whether its for another country or not.
@ OP
Reboot into cwm and wipe data/factory reset. If that doesnt help you should format emmc and sdcard or use nuke/clean scripts and then flash rom.
I think this is a general 4.1.x fault, I have a galaxy tab2 also on 4.1.1 now and it has got the same problem, every time you switch on from a full power down you have to select the default launcher again, set the stay-awake in developer options, select default music player, and any other default app if more than one is installed, was thinking of removing stock apps and replacing with the ones i want, ie remove default launcher and replace with adw-launcher in system so it is not uninstalable, etc any thoughts?
ps i tried the nuke and wipe scripts no better
only other thing is remove micro-sd
format internal storage
flash PIT,
reinstall stock from odin
but as the tab2 is also same problems i really can't see it doing any good. might go back to SLIM-BEAN rom i think
(only thing how can i port slim-bean to the tab2 as i would like the same rom on both devices this is another topic though)
Hi guys.
Need some help, using root explorer pro I have put an mp3 file into store/media/ui named 'PowerOn.ogg'
However it doesn't play when I start my phone up !
I had this problem before and I fixed it (somehow) but I cannot remember exactly what I did, now since flashing a new ROM I encountered the problem again.
What can I do? thanks.
I am running Omega v6 with whatever Kernel came with it.
WHile I am here also, is there anyway to get the lockscreen off Jellybean 4.1.2 onto Jellybean 4.2.2 that I am currently running?
I miss my ripple effect
HAVE TRIED CONVERTING MP3 FILE TO OGG BEFORE PUTTING IT INTO MY PHONE, STILL NO LUCK.
Hey
Does that rom come with a power on audio?(when flashed without changes)

Hi everyone,
I am using Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 with ICS 4.0.4 ROM and Update to CM 10.1 Jelly Bean 4.2.2
follow with this Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074202
Everything is pass but after I update to CM 10.1 by wipe the factory setting , wipe cache and wipe dilvik cache. I check the storage on my Tab 10.1 is used for 7GB that I am not install any app.
I connect my tab to my computer it seen only few directory of storage. It is not like a ICS that I can see root and all folder.
After I try to check the source of storage that used. I see it when I boot with recovery mode and select update with zip file, I can see all directory that ever used in ICS at the root directory.
But in Recovery Mode I can not delete for do anything with these directory.
I try to install "Root Explorer" App but cannot access these folder.
The Question is.
1. Have anyone ever solved this probelm. Can we access the old ICS file in Jelly Bean ? and How ?
2. If I cannot do it with Jelly Bean. Can I access with ICS ROM if I downgrade to ICS
3. If I must downgrade to ICS, I want some suggestion to downgrade form CM 10.1 , What's the important things that I should do.
Thanks,
Niphon S.
You will find your old files in 0 folder under Storage, Sdcard, Emulated, 0. However, your nandbackups will be in Mnt, Shell, Emulated, Clockworkmod, backup.

Samsung gave a hint that they are upgrading our tab to jb, they are currently testing it but I doubt that would happen. Or you can just flash a custom jb Rom. There are tons in the development forum.
