Like everyone says, the "SEARCH" feature is your friend. Start with looking up Odin and read up on it. From reading your comments, I'm sure it won't be the last time you will need it

Do a search for Odin or go into the Vibrant Bible and look in the first group of links. It's in there. Just follow the instructions. If you took the chance of flashing a ROM, you need to be able to do the research in order to fix problems that can arise. All the info you need is right at your fingertips, use it and happy flashing.
These type of posts just blow me away. 3 people were nice enough to provide information as to how fix your phone. Yet you ignore the offer for help. Tell you what. Send me your phone and I will fix it for you. In return, I will just keep it so you don't have the chance to brick it again and have to beg for help when the answers have been posted in the hundreds of other.....URGENT...HELP ME NOW I THINK I BRICKED MY PHONE threads and have also been posted in countless other places on the forum. Please, read the forums before you flash. I am all about helping, but when you blatantly ignore help that is offered, I feel little to no sympathy at all.
Oh man. LOL
I remember the first time I flashed a ROM. I read everything I could about it for 3 days first.
If people skip that important step, they kinda get what they deserve.
Lazy people suck!!!
Hint. The very first thread in this very forum has everything you need! READ READ READ READ

OK so after reading and watching and reading some more I thought I could successfully root and then mod my i777 to ICS. Yeah, not so much.
I managed to get the device rooted using some help from GalaxyS2Root.com and using the 2.6.35.7_ZedomaxStockKernel. After that I thought I could install shostock2 however when the install started with CWM it goes for a moment and says "Installation aborted." I tried to do the same with cyanogenmod with the same result. Also wifi won't stay on, but have unrooted and everything goes back to normal.
I searched a great deal for this, but could find nothing. I would love a link to a thread if there is one. Do I need a different kernel? I feel like I followed the directions to a T. I really would like to have ICS and the super user ability, it if wasn't meant to be then that's fine. I can just unroot and wait for official ICS.
Thanks for your patience with my newbness. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated, and I am truly grateful that you guys are here for me to ask.
The links in the sticky at the top of this forum will help you out. Please read all of them carefully before making further modifications to your phone.
You should try to avoid using rooting methods that you don't find on XDA. Go here and grab the stock with root package, and use that to root. After that, download Mobile Odin and use it to install a kernel that includes CWM. Entropy's DD or Siyah will to the trick. After that you should be fine to flash stuff with CWM.
LOL
I still can't believe keep seeing people getting info from that site, GalaxyS2Root.
Stop using that site people.
Thanks!

I'm thinking it has to do with this:
The sticky ATTENTION: AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II General Guide/Walkthrough/FAQ/hints and tips, that EVERYONE is supposed to read when they join XDA, instructs you to read this: How to Easily Root your device. Or watch the video walkthrough.
If you read the info and then decide you want to watch the vid to get another example by sight, something I believe most people would do... I know I did, you will be lead to a thread called ROM's, Kernels, Tools & "How to" I777 SGS2. In this thread the OP made multiple posts in order to separate the information while still giving you everything he believed you would need. In the second post he has a section called "<Tools>" under that it says "For all first timers" and under that it states "Excellent How To Video's".
The first video, credited to zedomax, sends you to the site GalaxyS2Root ...
Then you say that all the information can be found here at XDA ... Well, you are right, that information IS found here on XDA with an external link to "that site".
tl:dr
Not being a **** here just pointing out the reason people are using GalaxyS2Root. A thread started by Red5 (a highly respected member of XDA) includes a link to a thread made by another respcted member of XDA. At this point there is yet another link to another thread that includes the GS2Root link...
You follow the yellow brick road and it leads you to the wizard!
Personally I will only be putting Entropy or Entropy approved rom/kernel/etc. on my GS2 - His work helped me a ton with my old Tilt2.

And this is one of the reasons that shortly after moderator Red5 wrote the new sticky post with the consolodated information in it, I sent him a private message asking him to remove that video from the post, and to also update the OP of the "How to easily Root your device" thread by Jivy26 to include working download links. However, for whatever reason, he chose not to make the changes. I should have pressed the point with him, or our other moderator, but I just let it be.

Huh? I just went back and looked through all my PMs and I have no PM from you. However, I will fix whats needs to be corrected.
Edit: Video walkthrough link removed. As far as the links in the OP from Jivy, are those links not working? Are there other links that are that need to replace the ones in the OP?
Edit 2: Nevermind, I see in the last post you reference to your signature and there you have a post with two working links for rooted KH7 Odin3 packages. Ill replace Jivy's links with yours. Thanks. I also gave you credit in Jivy's post under #3.

@Red5
Thanks for updating both your post and Jivy's post. Here are a couple of suggestions on the links in the "how to easily root" OP:
The items 1 through 4 are the same as and were copied from items 2a through 2d in the Guide "How to Flash Custom Binaries Without Ever Incrementing the Flash counter!!" The links in the Guide are all working as far as I know.
First, the only exception to this is that I can not get any MultiUpload link to work. They just seem to display a blank page in the browser. I don't know if they ever work sometimes or not. This means Entropy512's original thread for the rooting packages, which is linked to in item 4 has unusable links. I just added an additional link in my guide in item 2d to direct people to the download repository for alternative links. "...or if you have difficulty with the links in his thread, there are alternative links for all his files in the Download Repository toward the bottom."
In item 2, you left the MultiUpload link, but you could change it to this one which is in the Guide - "Download "SuperOneClick v2.3.1 - Automatic Driver Installation" from DepositFiles (or look for links here) and extract it to a directory on your hard drive using WinZip or a similar program".
In item 3, you included links for both the unrooted and rooted packages, but this would be confusing to new users since it is a guide on how to easily root. I think you should remove the non-rooted link.

I already searched this and there were only 3 results. All pretty much said "Upgrade from official GB".
Plugging my phone into Kies produces the error message "Your device does not support software upgrading via kies."
Not sure how to fix this.
I'm on completely stock, official KK6. Not rooted.
Kies displays
PDA: KK6 Phone: KK6 CSC: KK6
Trying to get the device onto ICS to return for warranty as that's what the warranty center suggested to fix my problem.
Help really appreciated, pretty confused
I was able to fix the problem. Here's a small guide.
Flashes bootloader. Dangerous. This is a roll of the dice. You could very well end up with a useless phone. Seriously. Take this into consideration.
Download:
AT&T official UCLE5: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/160521955/8de1076/I777UCLE5_I777ATTLE5_ATT.zip.html
Don't trust me? http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ search i777 and download the newest firmware; you'll have to register.
Odin: http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...72c055d2/503d172d/5/8/1/9/1/3/Odin3-v1.85.zip
Samsung Kies(If you don't have i777 drivers): http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/
0) Put device into download mode
(Phone off, NOT plugged in, hold vol up + vol down and while holding those two keys plug the USB cable from your computer to your phone.)
1) Unzip the Official UCLE5 file
2_ Open up ODIN, in the white box all the way to the left it should say something like
0:[COM5]
Click to collapse
. Your numbers maybe different depending on what port your i777 is situated on.
3) In the bottom right section of the program you'll see buttons that say "Bootloader, PDA, Phone, CSC"
Click PDA, and navigate to your unzipped UCLE5.tar.md5 file.
Click start, let it run.

To shut them up I told them my phone was running ICS because he was asking if i'd upgraded, because that could fix my problem.
I told him the phone was on ICS, so wouldn't it be a little odd if I returned the phone I claimed was on ICS with a GB ROM? I mean I doubt they check this and wouldn't care, but that message I'm getting in Kies is telling me that it must be detectable that my phone was previously modified.
I tried to upgrade to ICS prior to sending it back but Kies is junk. No matter what I did the phone wouldn't connect to it. The one time it did, it wouldn't go for the upgrade. So I sent it back with 2.3.4. I don't have patience to sit hours to get a stupid update to work just for them to wipe it when the get it.
If you flashed to stock without root and have no flash counter, I don't see how they can see you were modified. Unless you indeed flashed the rooted package or have a flash counter.
Removed.

Hello guys..
I would like you to go through XDA new users guide and you must read the FORUM RULES before posting here or anywhere else on xda.
The rate at which the new users are joining xda on daily basis is very high. A lot of users join because they have got some problems with their devices like bricked phone, bootloops etc. because of following incorrect processes. Some join to help out others, to share their knowledge and gain more.
So basically this thread is for all of those who want to ask questions and answer those.
So those who want to help here, just try to answer without flaming, let it be answered thousands of times earlier, show them the path, direction and let them do things on their own. Do not spoon feed, rather just try to point them to right direction.
This whole idea is of @undercover and the former OP Bruce Wayne and I thank him.
To The people asking questions here, don't forget to check for the links from 2nd post. That will help you increase your knowledge, and do answer the questions asked by others if you know the answer. Please don't simply say thanks if some member helps you, instead use the thanks button, that will help us keep this thread less cluttered.

Hey sorry for not replying,
As I am not in scripting, I am completely unaware of such things. I tried hard with the search but couldn't find anything useful. I didn't reply because I was expecting a reply from someone with answer. I saw your thread but it is also unanswered.
You can try asking help from the people in your section working on kernels and shell scripts.
Thanks.

Hi, I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I've got this problem where it freezes upon reaching the "4G" logo on startup. I looked online for answers and someone recommended to "Odin a stock ROM from your PC", and then they posted a link to this site. Now, I have no idea how to Odin, or what a stock ROM is, so could anyone help me out?

Yes.
Welcome to XDA.
Please go to your device's forum using the search your device box from site. type samsung galaxy s2 and choose your device from the options. Look for the stock odin firmwares thread there. Download the one from your region, see the instructions given on flashing there. If you don't understand the instructions, check out youtube videos for that.
Odin is a easy process and just needs instructions to be followed correctly.
And inform us here when you recover your phone again.

Hi guys! as you can see I am new here
I posted a question in a old thread whose topic was similar to my question but no one answered(cmon! i followed the rules!!!)
This annoyed me a lot, those who preach these rules dont bother to help those who keep it up, I am glad a thread like this is here.
So here I am with my question:
I own a samsung galaxy grand
So i installed the Cyanogenmod 10.1
But I am unable to make calls, it says turn off airplane mode, which i did, rebooted and all
here is the weird part:
I CAN receive calls from other phones but cannot make calls because my phone is still in airplane mode even i removed it from airplane mode.
So can anyone help me?

Hi,
Make sure you close samsung kies when you try to use odin.
As for flashing anything from odin, you will need to boot into download mode (vol. Down + power + home) after switching phone off. Then press vol. up, you will see a warning, first and after that comes the downloading screen.
Now make sure drivers are installed correctly, open odin, and now connect phone with usb cable, wait for some time till it shows a yellow box saying COM : ID xxx , something like that and now you can flash relevent files through relevent options. Wait for pass (green) signal and you're done.

That seems crazy, if it shows flight mode, you should also not be able to recieve calls. Seems a problem with the rom. Try wiping cache/dalvick cache /data from cwm/twrp and see if it fixes the bug. If not contact the rom developer or flash another/stock rom and reflash CM 10.1 to see if the problem persists.
Also welcome.

Well, I have gone through your thread. Please can you confirm if it is same result with different firmware? If the problem still persists, please take your phone to service centre. Act as dumb and don't let them know that you have tried rooting. They will get it fixed for you.
