Copying files from DNA to Windows 8 PC - HTC Droid DNA

My computer is a Windows 8 PC with a Intel core i7 980x 6-core processor, 16GB DDR3 and it has USB 3.0 yet for some reason when I try to copy picture from my phone to my PC via USB I am greeted with this......

Usually a usb issue,
Try to connect, reconnect, reboot your pc, use a different cable, use a different port. These are the tips I can give you. Also check the drivers

I have a Windows 7 PC and plugging in my stock DNA triggers a massive driver install each time. Also I think I can access files only if HTC sync or something of the sort is running... This almost makes me miss my TB running AOSP.

Also, OP, this must rank very high on the list of most useless error messages ever

Completely stock.
I have used multiple USB cords on every port on computer and reinstalled the drivers 2 times. Issue remains. I have to copy files 1 by 1.
My HTC Sensation works fine copying from both the phone and SD card.

when you plug in your phone does usb debugging come on and does windows say you have a unknown hardware id?

It's listed as "HTC6435LVW" on the device list. I have done it with USB debugging on and off.
I can copy files as long as it's not more than around 10 pictures.

1. check if there is correct driver installed
2. check is USB cable is ok
3. use USB port from the back of your PC. front one sometimes it fail (happened to me several times))
4. check if you have "usb debugging" tick in "application - development"
could be one of these above situation....
Uninstalled and reinstalled driver got it to show up intermittently. My phone shows up everytime but the flyer only sometimes. I've tried every port with with multiple cables. I'm gonna see if it got better tonight. I'm trying to upgrade to 3.2 and don't want a brick because of a damaged micro usb port.
Thanks for the reply

have you tried to another computer?
If you have istalled latest adb and HTC driver and Java then i think it's like what happened to me, I couldn't get adb to work and my laptop seems like it didn't recognize my flyer..
nickiberli was kind enough and advised me to use his tool AndroidControl, you can find it in his sig..just navigate to the Android Control folder after you unpack it and start a command window from there and it will hopefully work..

Mounting Problem

hello guys.
i have Amaze for months and had no problems, but for now, i'm pissed off.
my phone doesn't mount Disk drive.
i mean, when i plug it on usb, there is an error pop-up saying "Usb Device Isn't Recognized" and it starts to charge.
i tried 3 different cables, did a full wipe, changed rom, kernel, but still no luck.
i'm running latest Energy rom w/ faux's kernel, S-OFF-ed, rooted, 4Ext recovery.
any ideas?
Might try a card reader. If it reads ok, backup all the contents then format the card. ( fat 32 I think) better check.
Just an idea.

Have you installed the device drivers for your phone? If you haven't I would recommend downloading the device drivers for your phone from here. If you have already installed the device drivers for your phone I would recommend uninstalling then reinstalling the device drivers for your phone. Also, is the usb cable a decent quality cable and are you able to connect other devices to your computer (And Windows recognizes them) using this cable?
Thank you for your feedback and yes ive been through the motions of uninstalling amd reinstalling the drivers multiple times. The cable im using is for an LG smartphone and its in mint condition . It alsocworks with other devices except mine. My samsung would have a usb icon pop up on the phone whenever a connection is made but now it just charges.

You could also try using a different usb cable and also make sure your plugging your phone into a USB 2.0 port as sometimes USB 3.0 ports can be problematic. Another thing you could try that very likely won't make a difference but you could try is going into developer settings and making sure USB debugging is enabled.
Ive tried every usb port on my laptop and i tried the usb debugging feature but nothing seems to be working. I will get a new usb cable specifically for my phone to see if it makes a difference because im running out of options.

Samsung galaxy nexus isn't recognized by win 7

I upgraded to Windows 7 on an older laptop. I plug my phone in and it doesn't recognize anything. I thought win 7 would pickup the driver automatically but I guess not. I tried rebooting the laptop and phone
do I need a driver? Android adb or sdk is it?

Just USB Debugging needs to be checked, make sure your plugging your phone into a USB 2.0 port as USB 3.0 can give you problems. Also if you have a different computer try that as well.

I installed the driver for schi515. When I rebooted my phone I heard the sound it makes when it's connecting and disconnecting. It started auto installing a driver for OMA0444 I think it was, then the download failed. I don't know where that came from or what it is? I recently added a new hard drive and Win7
Under device manager, "other device" toggles between showing OMAP, and not even showing "other devices"
Not working on my pc either. Usb port needs replacing. Previously I was able to transfer files to my pc, but it looks like that ability has been lost.
Will replacing my Usb port erase my phone?

One more thing I would recommend taking a look at is this thread as the person manged to find a solution similar to the problem you are having. As far as replacing your USB port, replacing it will not (Should not whenever your modify any electronics risk of data loss is always a possibility) erase your phone.

What size screwdriver are you looking for? As the Torx screws on phones can vary greatly sometime, which size torx screw driver do you need?
That's my question. What size do I need? I need to remove the back so I can replace the USB port.

Just took at look at the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Teardown guide on iFixit and yes it is a small Philips head screwdriver that is listed for the screws. When doing the teardown I would recommend taking a look at there guide that I linked to.
