Hi guys, extremely frustrating problem I have.
It has happened on two different ROM's so I don't think it's a glitch with the ROM as such, but of a file or possible app in my phone.
I have even used rom toolbox to delete every notification sound, yet this ghost noise still occurs.
It usually happens after I unlock my phone, the noise resembles something similair to the notification sound 'deneb'
No idea what it is, or how I can shut it up, once again it sometimes happens, othertimes it doesn't.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I searched the forum but could not find this. Please bear with me!
While I get incoming calls in my X10i, the phone sometimes rings and sometimes doesn't. This results in lot of missed calls. Very weirdly, if the phone rings in the first call, in the next call, it might not, or vice versa. This happens without any specific trend. Any help, please?
Secondly, can anyone please tell how to check the proximity sensor? I somehow feel mine is not working, as previously, the phone would light up on taking out of cover. Now it doesn't.
Any help any one?

Then can it be that some downloaded app is creating this problem? I dont have any volume controller app, but can some downloaded games or other app doing this to the phone?
So the ringer problem is not mine alone. Can a software update fix this?
are you using a task killer???? it seems to be the root of most evils... suggest switching any autokilling off if you are.

Hiya guys. Yes i am the dumbass who dropped a dumbell onto the galaxy. Phone is now fixed .......moving on
Anyways i get complaints of an echo noise off the person on the recieving end everytime i use a protective case to cover the device, but if i disable noise cancellation everything works fine echo free.
MY QUESTION: is there a way of disabling noise cancellation differently rather than having to do it during a call everytime which can get rather annoying!
Thanks in advance

On mine, it stays disabled until/unless I re-enable it.
Hmmm thats strange.......

If you update to KG1 (2.3.4) you will have the option. Once you get on a call and its answered, the icon / option shows up.
Some confusion to whether if its OFF by default and you can turn it on OR its ON by default and you can turn it off.
Anyway, its there once you get on 2.3.4
didn't find the option in any where...
This is the only thing that bugs me about this fantastic phone!

My brother has this exact same problem. We tried everything except hard reset...
His solution....buy a new case lol.
Its random I guess coz my wife and I also have SGS2 and we use that case just fine.

Im using VillainRom 2.0 and its OFF by default, when you press Menu and then press NOISE REDUCTION OFF, it actually turns it ON.
I think the option is saying that the NR is off, then if u press it, it will be ON.
Tested myself with my brother on a noisy street, sound is more silent when I press NOISE REDUCTION OFF.
I have tried two different cases and both encounter same problem. Arghhhh very frustrating!

If the case covers the bottom area (mic) I think you will have this problem. Be very interested to know if hard reset mat fix
No the area around the mic and charger port are cut open so that cant be the problem

The noise cancellation should be at the top of the phone. Right next to the ear phones jack slot. For my GSII, the Noise Cancellation cannot be disabled permanently. It is always enabled whenever a call is made/received. I've to manually disable it once the the call is connected. Unfortunately I'm still finding out solutions. Will share of course

to the TOP!!!!! this issue is annoying
I have the same problem with noise cancelling and echo, always have to turn it off each call.
Any solution?
I am currently running jt1134/teamhacksung's ICS Build 3 ROM.
The problem I'm having is that every time I make or accept a call, there is an earsplitting double beep noise.
I do not know if this can be turned off, or if it is a normal MTD thing (since I've had it happen on CM7 too), but it's really annoying.
Is there any way to turn this off?
I've looked but haven't found any way yet.
It sounds like what you're describing is typical "Phantom Ring". That and some problems I had with speaker phone audio are the reasons I left bleeding edge stuff like MTD behind and now run TSM Resurrection. I never did find a cure for it, and gave up looking for one. Some phones it affects differently. I didn't feel like the benefits outweighed the inconveniences.
I don't think it's the phantom ring. I've had that before on CM7 too. This is more of a "call connected" or "call ended" beep.

Hmmm. Maybe try a different modem?
It's done it on different modems too but it seems to have stopped for now. Maybe it was just a glitch of some sort.

Suddenly, starting a few hours ago, my phone began making the notification type sound whenever I unlock the phone and access the homescreen.
The option (screen lock sound) is disabled under 'sound' in settings. I presume this is the setting responsible?
Any ideas why it's started doing it?
I've tried activating and deactivating different sound settings, silent mode, airplane mode, restarting etc in order to re-boot the setting, but to no avail
Then use widgetlocker and configure in that app.

Nope, just tried it and it doesn't stop the sound as it's already set to off in widgetlocker. It uses a different source for the sound.

Normally it should be disabled under settings/sound/sound for lockscreen. Otherwise factory reset if it is such a problem for you.
I found out what it was. Thought I'd update the thread in case its searched.
It was the nfc notification sounding every time the phone was unlocked. Turn off nfc in settings and the sound disappears! Yay. Was driving me nuts.
Glad to hear you found out

Hey Everyone,
So got my c6833 a couple days ago. Everything was fine until i updated it.
So here is the issue. When i get notifications or phone calls the audio comes out of my top ear piece instead of the bottom loud speaker.
And to point out i do not have any custom roms or apps. Stock everything.
Anyone else having this issue as well???
Yes I got this problem too.

I have this issue too. Reboot fixes it have not found another fix. Don't know what causes it either. Seems random.

Same Same here...:crying::crying::crying:

Very Bad Battery Back up....:crying::crying::crying:
Sound from the earpice insted of Speaker.....:crying::crying::crying::crying:
PC Companion Freezes.....:crying::crying::crying::crying:
And sony says : Please take your phone to a repair center for evaluation....
This is my first Sony .... They should come up with a fix really soon.......
The sound problem do comes and goes away.....But very low sound , specially when phone is connected to the charger.....
there has been a fix from Z1 forum:
1. Open Settings->Sound->Volumes
2. Slide the second slider all the way to the right
3. While the Volume slider dialog still open and the sound preview still playing, retract the Notification Bar from top to bottom (as if you are going to check any notification/toggling a quick toggle button)
4. The Playback sound will go to the main speaker, after that, restart the phone
6. If the problem persist, please uninstall updates on chrome and Smart Connect, then restart again
7. After restarting, please reinstall Chrome and Smart Connect update again.
Same sound problems
I have the same sound problems since the KitKat update. Sound goes in and out/sound gets very low randomly. Actually, the sound comes from the ear piece speaker at times when it should come from the regular bottom loud speaker. I can't hear the phone ringing if the sound is coming from the ear piece speaker! I have missed lots of phone calls because of this. It is very frustrating. A reboot will fix it for a very short time. The same with disabling/uninstalling updates for Smart Connect & Chrome. The fix never lasts. I can't believe that there is no real fix for this.
