I need help with my SK17i - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

i've rooted my sk17i many many times running gingerbread and ics with unlocked boot loader. now I'm running a custom rom called hasa with stock kernel. and then i tried hard to flash another custom rom with the flashtool but there was a problem. when i tried to flash the kernel which is ( LuPuS_mango_jBv7.img ) there was a message says you should root your device although the superuser exists. this is the photo of the problem.

the root word here refers to bootloader should be unlocked .. that happened to me before ,, then i found that i relocked the bootloader .. then i unlocked it again and it works fine
---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 PM ----------
also it should say in log "BootLoader Status : Rooted!" but this is not in ur log .. try to unlock bl again

Hmmmm.....
1.turn off your phone....
2.connect your phone to pc while holding volume up (you can see blue led appear/that show you are in fastboot mode)
3.open flashtool (the log will confirm your phone is on fastboot mode)
4.click the flash button on flashtool and select fastboot....
5.a popup will appear then pick "select kernel to flash".....
6.choose any custom kernel you desire then flashing kernel will begin....
those were the proper step on how to flash custom kernel on your phone....never connect you phone while it still on if you are planning to flash any kernel....
btw, you cannot flash custom roms using flashtool...you need CWM or TWRP recovery to flash custom roms...CWM and TWRP recovery are available in any custom kernel...

Thanks guys

[Q] SK17i and fastboot - not able to flash rooted phone

Hi,
what I've done so far :
rooted my phone (Doomlord's tool)
updated ROM .42 (via x10flashtool.exe - which is in fact GUI for fast boot as I understood)
rooted again
wanted to go to FXP045, but stuck with flash - system response was that the phone needs to be rooted first (+some issues with drivers)
refreshed ROM via Companion (.42)
rooted again
...and still same issue during flash (with -w option)
either failed bcz not rooted (not true)
or stops at sending boot (nothing happens) and then fail because i disconnect device "status read faled(too many links)"
Anyone able to advise if I missed sthg?
thx, M.
same for me on st15i.

Unlocking bootloader

It says i need to run the file s1tool.exe to find out if semc.bat or setool2 is applicable for me.. I downloaded S1tool.exe.. and ran it..
After runnin the exe file i click on identify and connect my X10 via usb while pressing the back key but nothin happens .. Nothing at all ?!
What am i doing wrong
Not even able to downgrade kernel using flashtool.. i run flashtool and connect my phone by turning it off and holding the back button and connecting the usb wire but nothing happens !!!
There is no need to downrade the kernel.
1. download and install pccompanion
2. If you ar enot already on stock rom with stock kernel, then use pccompanion to repair back to stock. (If you are on a custom rom and stock kernel, ten that is ok as well.)
3. Download and install latest flashtool (V0.5.3.0)
4. Goto driver folder in flashtool folder and run ggsetup.exe
5.Atach phone to Computer and run flashtool, wait for computer to see the phone.
6. press the padlock icon to root it, follow instructions.
7. press plugins/unlock/run, follow instructions
8. flash the unlocked kernel of your choice in flashtool,
9. flash the unlocked romof your choice in xrecovery
10. flash any required wifi modules if you need them.
any problems, just PM me.
Can you please elaborate these:
8. flash the unlocked kernel of your choice in flashtool,
Where to get the kernel? What choices do i have? How do i select one?
9. flash the unlocked romof your choice in xrecovery
Same questions as for the kernel, How to flash using xrecovery?
10. flash any required wifi modules if you need them.
Whats a wifi module and why would i need one and where to get it from?
Ive done uptill step 7... Still havent got unlocked bootloader i think cuz i still see SE logo when i start phone

Follow the [wifi issues and ulbl] link in my signature, this will put you on latest wolf rom and latest doomkernel.
The links are all in there. Get latest wolf rom from his thread (V7b6)
If oyu want another rom follow the instructions from that OP.
But basically you need to do this.
1. unlock bootloader (Steps 1-7 in my previous post) Check to see if its unlocked by trying to unlock it again...(What did it say last time when you finished trying to unlock)
2. download doomkernel and wifi modules from the doomkernel for unlocked bootloader thread.
3. Flash the kernel in flashtool. (run flashtool, click on the lightening icon, navigate to where you saved the kernel, click ok, and follow instructions)
4. Reboot in xrecovery and flash the rom
5. reboot into cmw5 and flash the wifi modules (Instead of pressing back button, press the menu button, cmw5 recovery is just another recovery)
reboot, enjoy.

They are modules that allow you to use wifi. They are different ones needed for each kernel.
Just flash them in cmw recovery

[TUT] Install Stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 rom [+Root and CWM]

Here is the tutorial for Installing stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM plus root and CWM. I am not responsible or anyone mentioned below for bricking your phone in case, tested on my Xperia ray with unlocked bootloader using S1 tool.
Requirements
Unlocked Bootloader (preferred) although there is a work around for locked bootloader
4.0.2.A.0.62 FTF files
Flashtool
recoveryRay.img by and Rootxperia.zip b1n4ry (for rooting)
CWM
Installation:
How to Install stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM:
Download this stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM. Thank you Aire for providing the link.
After download you will have a zip file. Extract it.
Download flashtool here and extract it.
Create FTF file using flashtool from the 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM zip you extracted earlier. Now if you don't know how to create FTF files, there's a good tutorial here.
If you successfully created FTF file, you should see a file with extension “.ftf” in the “firmwares” folder inside “FlashTool” folder
Run the executable “X10FlashTool.exe” located in the FlashTool folder
Now click “Flash” button and select flashboot. Now select the firmware from the popup menu. Make sure “Wipe user data” box is checked and then click “OK”.
The application will ask you to put your Ray in flashboot mode, to do this turn off the phone, hold the volume down button while while connecting the USB cable to your computer.
Follow the on screen instruction and your device will reboot. Notice that the reboot process will take longer at first.
How to install Root
Please note that this is only applied to devices with unlocked bootloader. Alternately, you can just install a custom kernel and root using zergrush method but if you want to try the .62 kernel from this stock rom then do this.
Download rootxperia.zip here and place it in your sd card
Enter device in fastboot mode. Turn off phone, hold volume up while you connect the USB cable to computer
Download the recoverRAY.img provided below, you will get a zip file, extract it.
Open folder inside Flashtool where fastboot.exe exists (/FlashTool/x10flasher_lib)
Place the recoveryRAy.img inside the folder
Open command line in this folder
Test if it recognize your device, to do this type fastboot devices, if there is a result here proceed.
Now here's the tricky part, to enter a temporary recovery type fastboot boot recoveryRAY.img
*Notice that we didn't use fastboot flash boot ****.img here because as bin4ry said this recovery is designed to work just as recovery, if you flash it to your device it will NOT boot system anymore! This is just a temporary recovery for you so be careful not to flash it.
Now wait and your phone will reboot, you will see the FREE XPERIA splash screen and your device will now enter temp CWM recovery
On your phone choose install custom zip, locate the rootxperia.zip you added earlier in your SD card and flash it.
Reboot, your device is now rooted.
*to root your device with locked bootloader, they say you can install previous stock kernel and root using zergrush method.
How to install CWM
Download this then extract
Make sure you enabled USB debugging, and also you need to set Screen timeout to 10 minutes so you don't miss the superuser promt
Run install-cwm1.cmd from the folder
Follow screen on screen instruction, reboot.

Aire said, his current kernel supports .62 but they are currently working for repack based on this new firmware.
I haven't tried installing any custom firmware at the moment, I want to test this stock firmware for changes and improvement especially the baseband and battery consumption.

UPDATE 2: SEUS update won't brick our phone if it uses the Testpoint method O what a happy day it is.. Let's see if i can flash aire kernel back.
is that a global version or what ? some people said, that version has some bugs..
can we root this version with the new DoomLord v4 Root ?
from the Arc forum, i found that they can root their device with .62 firmware just by using flashtool.. can we do that so ?
thx

The firmware is provided by Aire, however if you encounter ftf generic firmware, it will be nice if you post it here.
As to bugs, I'm using this firmware for a day now and I noticed improvement in battery and speed, no bugs so far. I haven't tried the doomlord v4 root, but rooting via recovery is easy.

If your bootloader is still locked you can not root your device using that method. The only work around is to install previous kernel and root using zergrush method.

Thank you "idareyoutoclickthis" and "hansip87" for your replies.
In fact I had rooted my Ray earlier 4.0.2.A.0.42ver using the zergrush method using DooMLoRD_v4_Root Which I lost when I upgraded to 4.0.2.A.0.62ver. Now DooMLoRD_v4_Root won't work with 4.0.2.A.0.62ver update.
Now what about the bootloader thing? Sorry for being so dumb. Can you please elaborate a bit? I've got only got to the point wherein i checked the status using the service menu (*#*#.....#*#). It only says Rooting Status: Bootloader unlocking allowed: Yes.
What do I have to do now? Please help.

Indeed .62 is the latest built which include alot of improvements specially on batter issue.
If you don't want custom rom and kernel and is contented with the stock ROM and kernel then you don't need to unlock your bootloader.
to root your device, you need to flash stock 4.0.2.A.0.42 kernel only, you can do this with locked bootloader and root using zergrush method.

you can try to unlock directly at your current stable rom, somebody able to do it while i can't do it and should move to dev rom to unlock.
if you failed to do it at current rom, you can move to dev rom using miflash and ofc using fastboot rom. if you should move to dev rom to unlock, choose LP rom since MM rom have forced encryption feature by default.
OK.. suppose now I unlocked the bootloader... wat should I do to flash twrp and root the phone.. should I just flash tarp and supersu or should I need to flash anything else... please help me step by step after unlocking bootloader...
follow lolipop unlock process Replace emmc_appsboot.mbn in dev rom and flash via mi flash done,
fastboot oem unlock-go
fastboot flash recovery recovery name.img
then flash radon latest marshmallow version and then flash supersu 2.76 done, its work for me,

Both can be done.
Vice versa is also possible.
OK then click unlock bootloader first and then flash twrp.
The reverse can also be done. I did the reverse and I was amazed so thought I should as this to my tutorial

Once unlocked bootloader and flash twrp.
You don't have to take help of PC or any other thing.
You can always do it on the phone itself.
Boot into twrp by pressing upper volume and power button.
Wipe everything except storages (internal or external)
And then install the ROM zip file and gapps file accordingly.
Do it for any rom

any rom can be install from phone through twrp directly but this is for rom other than miui.
if you install the global stable miui 8 official then its gone. your phone will brick. the bootloader, since is unofficially unlocked, your phone would stuck at mi logo.
now if you wanna install miui rom without any such kinda loss, you see this video: the madthing he explained everything.
download a patched miui 8 rom that will support unofficially unlocked bootloader and will not cause any problem. and it supprts volte too.
or if you want the real miui 8 global rom back . this has to be done by pc.
Install miui 8 patched directly from twrp recovery. [easy one with extra features and safe and volte supported]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1U1T5gBzbI
Or install the stable miui 8 global offiical rom by pc method. doing everything again. [hard one, success not guaranteed but mostly works. follow each step correctly]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YijIOh9b3mY
his would definetly help you.
do give a thumbs up if you found it helpful

Tried to unlock bootloader, but the stuck at 50% saying unable to verify device something.. so tried logging into micloud and making hte device active.
Will try it today.
So after unlocking bootloader, just flash TWRP using adb commmands and flash SuperSU??
abihary said:
you can try to unlock directly at your current stable rom, somebody able to do it while i can't do it and should move to dev rom to unlock.
if you failed to do it at current rom, you can move to dev rom using miflash and ofc using fastboot rom. if you should move to dev rom to unlock, choose LP rom since MM rom have forced encryption feature by default.

Can i just download and 6.9.15 global developer rom and flash it using updater and try unlocking the bootloader or is it necessary to flash fastboot rom only.

If you do it by installing global dev kenzo ROM by mi flash then it may get stuck at 50-60℅ as happened to many here.
I have also experienced it. It got stuck at 40℅. It may happen.
It can say not enough memory to continue or whatever ****.
Leave it don't panic. The ROM has partially been installed.
Now cmtry power off. Or click on boot edl mode. Now directly click unlock bootloader .bat file which I provided. And then click on flash twrp. Bat file.
You phone will automatically boot into twrp and now go last tab of last second row, got to globe icon and change language and now go back and wipe everything.
No wiping internal storage if you have kept any ROM there. But I suggest wipe everything.
Insert a micro SD card or USB otg containing any ROM (because you need to boot up at least) and then flash it along with proper gapps.
