Hey guys , I have no idea what the problem is. I want the 3 dot overflow menu, but when I enable it in settings, like in cm, it only shows up in system apps not apps like tapatalk. Yes, I know I can remap the hardware keys, but I dont really want to do that.
Thanks

I like how Google have decided to go with the 3 Dot menu in apps like the play store, YouTube, Gmail etc and wish Samsung had used the 4.0 buttons but anyway, is there a way to enable the button because it's makes apps better looking and more usable
Thanks

Just a thought - what you guys think of this new HTC coming out - HTC Proto.. the oval shape part of the camera much resembles the Amaze in my opinion. 2 bad its rumored to be a bogged down entry level device - 1gb duo-core / 5 megapixel cam / 4 gigs of storage space lol.
they need to stop with that stupid ass recent apps button and just add the damn three dot menu button

I'VE GOTS to have a search button. period. lol

They should just get rid of the static/hardware buttons altogether, and use software buttons like on the Nexus Galaxy, etc. Then, through mods, the choice of buttons, and how they look, is yours (or, more accurately, the developers).
It actually look nice for entry-level phone, im diggin it! That "amaze oval" camera looks huge though
Also guys, the recent apps soft key Is amazing, on my galaxy Nexus I'm always quickly switching between apps really quickly, lightning fast!! I prefer it over the search key! And I used the search key A LOT!

I remember Google at one point saying they wanted to get rid of the menu button because it was a mistake because it confused a lot of the newbies.
Also I think sense 4.1 has a feature where holding down the multitasking brings up the menu.

I'm hoping this is the Amaze/Sensation 2 with a quad core S4!

its not a "new phone" its just a more powerful version of the desire v... http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...eady-released-desire-v-with-one-small-change/
Ever since I got this phone I constantly tap the search button by mistake and the hardware remap settings don't ever work on that specific key for me how can I fix this?

Remap settings.....are you talking about the file that's in the system folder?
In cm10 and 10.1 there is a setting in the system settings that allows you to change function of hardware keys but when I change the search key to do something else it never does and just keeps opening a search bar depending on the app I'm in Lol.

I feel ya man. I'm all about learning how to do things manually. Me and apps don't always get along.
You can find the keyboard layout for our device in system/usr/keylayout
The file will be named shooter-keypad.kl

This, if you are rooted. Just comment out the line that corresponds to search. Just add a # at the beginning.

Does anyone know if this is possible in CyanogenMod for the HTC One? I don't like being limited to two buttons; I'd rather lose some screen real estate than lose my menu/back/home/taskswitcher arrangement on my Galaxy Nexus.
Alternatively, if I could get menu by long-pressing back and taskswitcher by long-pressing home that'd also be acceptable. If anyone knows either of these are possible in CyanogenMod, let me know.
(Yes, I know I can get the HTC logo to become a button, but it's not ideal.)

Just edit the build.prop.
Add this line to it. "qemu.hw.main keys=0"
It should enable the soft keys.

Whilst that will enable soft keys, will it also disable hardware keys?

This enables the nav bar on my HTC One. But how can i get the buttons to show and be usable?
I'm using KitKat for the first days now and, as you guys know, we on our S2's have a menu key. I prefer the samsung way, the menu button is always there, so said that has anyone figured out a way to remove the 3-dot menu from the apps? Seems like google forced it to be ALWAYS there whether if you have on screen buttons or you don't, and wanted to know if there's a way to get rid of them.
There is a xposed mod regarding 3dot menu.. I dont remember its exact purpose.. Whether it removes or forces to stay 3dot menu

Yeah, found it! The module is called Noverflow, if someone was looking for it. Anyways I'm not using it, I'm using SlimSaber ROM which has the option to disable those buttons, thanks anyway o/
