Ive got a P768e, contracted with star hub singapore. Could someone please tell me which KDZ to use for rooting?
Sent from my LG-P768 using xda app-developers app
you can use the lelus method in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
and you can root any rom with this method !!!
The kdz part is confusing
Could you guide me through that?
Sent from my LG-P768 using xda app-developers app
Basically, when you want to root, you first send some files to your phone with ADB, but this isn't the rooting done. you have to reflash the kdz but replacing one of the update files with a modified one. This runs a small script which puts superSU and the binaries in the right place so you then have root access when the kdz flashing is complete. The offline flasher doesn't do anything to your data partition so your only refreshing the system directory.
I think that's how the lelus root method works, I may need to be corrected.
As long as you follow the guide precisely, rooting is easy, it's the prerequisites that put people off I think.

I got through it
thank you anyways

For some reason my Rooted P769BK got stuck at the splash screen and wouldn't move pass the T-Mobile Android logo. I figured I should hold down the volume down and restart to see if it can go to stock recovery. Little did I know, it seems to have done some kind of Factory Reset.
Now it seems to be stuck. I was able to check my apps through the Settings Menu and found that I didn't move or delete the LG Setup Wizard apk or odex. I just moved all the other T-Mobile bloatware to my SD card.
I have been looking around and even tried to run the KDZ for 10G, but the app force closes on my Windows 7 machine right after it unpacks 10G.
I'm using the T-Mobile USA L9 on V10E. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I had the same problem with KDZ on Windows 7 (Ultimate 64bit), when I run flash it falled down. Then I flashed KDZ with virtual Windows XP. Program for virtual PC is VMware workstation, here you create new virtual PC and install system which you want I hope that it will help you
Thanks for the insight. I'll give that a shot when I get home tonight. Any suggestions on how to keep 10E instead of upgrading to 10G?

I found this...it's USA T-Mobile FW for P769, I don't know if it's your.
http://uploaded.net/file/6fvwyi7p/from/wihfvm
or you can try search on google for file: V10E_00.kdz P769 (that 00 I don't know if you have too, but on my P760 it has that numbers)
Before I go ahead and try that 10E file, how did you find out it was for the P769 T-Mobile USA variant?

I found it here http://uploaded.net/f/wihfvm
And I definitely know that it's firmware for your phone, here you can find the same link which I wrote http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107971

Thanks for the find. I could of sworn 10E wasn't there yesterday.

the 10 e dl link
the link for the v10e file is both horrendously slow, and links to a zip which does not contain a kdz file!!! Unless theres a way to turn that file into a kdz file it should not be counted as one.
Now that you mentioned that. It seems to look like the source code that I ran into yesterday. Still waiting on the download.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app
I didn't know that it's only source code, I thoght that in ZIP is KDZ file. Now I'm trying to download it, really speed is very slow
I found on google this page http://code.google.com/p/arenoid/wiki/KDZExtractPack it's about extracting KDZ and generating new, maybe it will works.
If it works it's maybe way how to make rooted new firmwares.
Now I downloaded that ZIP, and inside are BIN and FLS file, I don't know what is FLS, but BIN you could flash..I found this..try it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355470
Do you think I can use Fastboot to flash the zip?

WRONG LOCATION: THIS IS DEVELOPMENT SECTION AND YOUR POST IS NOT ANY DEVELOPMENT. PLEASE REFRAIN YOURSELF FROM POSTING HERE. REPORTED TO ADMINS. ALL PALS ARE REQUESTED NOT TO POST YOUR ISSUES IN DEV SECTION.
You should post this in Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section
Now reply to your issue!
If everything fails, you may just give a try to LG PC Suite.
Whatever the issue is, for any device any firmware there is an option called "EMERGENCY FIRMWARE RECOVERY" in menu of "LG PC SUITE" I did this recovery once when my phone got bootloops and thoough its semi-bricked. But you should be able to bring phone in SW Upgrade Mode. It seems does not do check current ROM at all and FLASHES a fresh latest ROM downloading from LG Server, applicable for your specific phone.
EDIT: Wanna attach screenshot but cannot because XDA is showing overcapacity.
Thanks for the reminder.
Anyways, I figured it out. The phone did reset itself somehow. But, I'm not stuck at the Setup Wizard anymore.

Bump... Did we ever figure out how to flash the BIN and FLS files to the phone? This is V10E, and IS rootable with Bin4ry method. AND according to other rumors, bootloader unlock via oem-unlock should also work.
Or how to recompile these files back into the KDZ would work also.... I also have the DLL file for this as well
I'm a newbie, so can't post in development, so I have to open a thread here. I've thouroughly read Cmahendra's excellent rooting guide in development. The process seems clear, but it is totally Windows based. Is there a way to accomplish the same thing in Linux? I could convert the. bat files to scripts, and already have a Linux version of adb, so that is no problem. What other software do I need drivers, executables, etc. to get this done? If that is impossible, can I accomplish the root in a VMware virtual machine running XP?
I have attached the phone to my linux box in LG software mode, and it appears in adb using the device command. With adb shell, I am able to noodle around the phone, so I'm sure that I can convert the .bat files to .sh and do all of the necessary adb tasks. It is the flashing steps that I'm not sure about.
I'm anxious to get rooted, so I'd appreciate any help.
[Q] Can Cmahendra/Lelus root method be done in Linux?

Hi, at least I dont know any such flashing tool released by LG on linux platform. So without Update tool (flashing application) working on other things is useless. This tool is service center tool and not released for general public. They might be working only on windows.
But there could be some other command line methods to flash kdz on linux. Please search elsewhere on xda.
PS: Please change title to only "Lelus method". There is no cmahendra method. Lelus should be always mentioned first for his great work. I am not necessary. Thanks

It should work in a VM. If not you can make a windows partition and dual boot.

Your guide is so helpful, I just naturally put your name on the method. The change has been done.
Hello.
I rooted my p760 v20c (open bootloader) with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39114847.
+ flash supersu update.zip with cwm
Perhaps fastboot work with Linux.

I used the VM machine to flash an old Coby Kyros tablet. It worked for that, so I see no reason that it won't for the LG. It's just that things are so much simpler in Linux, no drivers or folderol like that.

I have a P769 with ICS - T-Mobile hasn't released JB, so it doesn't have an open bootloader. I don't think I can flash unsigned boot images.
Hello, I have a lg optimus l9 p769 runninc ics 4.0.4 its V10g and i need rooting assistance. I have tried many rooting software but none are working. I tried superoneclick, z4root and many more. I recently tried Root With Restore by Bin4ry and i tried both Runme.bat and Runme_L9.bat when i run as an admin, and i press root, it gives me all errors, when i run normally, I get to the part where im supposed to press restore on my phone, and when i press it it says "restoring..." and three seconds it says restore complete and it doesnt reboot or anything.
Unfortunately I'm a super noob at this stuff, I dont need root to flash roms i need it for apps.
If im doing anything wrong please inform me, I read in places that you have to unlock bootloader and stuff but i dont know what or how.
It'd be great if someone could post some steps and guidance.
Thanks

Please read few threads before posting new thread. It is not practical for us to reply every newcomer to ask for reading.
I've already looked at all those forums. I'm not concerned with flashing ROMS. All I need is simple root access and I've tried all the methods yet to no avail. If I can get cwm recovery without root and then flash the root. Zip file it might work but I can't find any forum that explains it.

Also I got really close with root with restore. Only problem was that my phone says Restoring... Then 3 secs later it says restore complete. No reboot no nothing. Any thoughts?

On P769 V10G, You cannot use old rooting method from Bin4ry, it only for some model and version (most 10A, 10B, 10C). You can only root your phone with cmahendra guide. And there are no easy one-click method to rooting our phone for now.
Ok I'll try that method. Thanks

The commands written in your guide won't work. I ran as an administrator but it says 'C:\' isn't a internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

this doesn't always work, but try moving the files to a different drive and replace c:/ with whatever the drive letter is. otherwise, wait till we get jelly bean and use that one click method.
Alright ill try that. Btw do you know when jb will come out for our phone?

10g firmware can be rooted?
You have to use both the offline fix and and the lelus root method together. Once you go through the first I've setting up your small server then it asks you to go to the other post to do the offline flash but don't start the flash until you go back to the first post to set up the magic trick. Too me three times but it's not that hard at all. Good luck!

This optimus is a major pain in my butt. Its the Mpc version Lg Optimus L9 P769 firmware 4.1.2 76910e. I have tried lgpwn.apk, rooting threw pc and no pc rooting. I (cannot) get the phone in emergency mode to flash with odin. The recovery just boot loops everytime. Everytime I try using a recovery or rooting method I get errors from every app I try using... the phone doesnt have spritebud.. I have been reading and trying to root and flash cwm recovery and a 4.3 rom for days and im getting quite frustrated. I know this is a older phone. Im not a noob when it comes to flashing or rooting. If someone could please help me out I would be very thankful. As im trying to do this for a friend to save them from buying a new phone and just upgrading this one because its lile brandnew.
Errors: spritebud, Null.
This phone is not like most. You have to unlock the bootloader and it's not easy. Use cydia impactor to root. Another thing this phone doesn't use Odin. It uses some crappy lg software that can only be ran on windows.
Your friend is probably better just getting a new phone. To much to learn & know for the casual user.
