T.E.A.M. Stock Rom for 2011 Xperia devices
(Arc, Arc S, Ray, Active, Play, Neo, Neo V)
pvyParts and iridaki
Proudly Present you
T.E.A.M. Stock Rom
A Rom for the Community By the Community!
YOU MUST Read this Post FULLY Before you Post any Questions!
First of all, hello 2011 Xperia Devices World!
We are coming from a galaxy far far away, where and when the X10 was a flagship!
We created the T.E.A.M ROM for the X10 and now we are taking the first step towards porting it to the next generation of devices.
The new TEAM ROM will be universal across the following devices:
1. Xperia Arc
2. Xperia Arc S
3. Xperia Active
4. Xperia Ray
5. Xperia Play
6. Xperia Neo
7. Xperia Neo V

( Devices with smaller screen resolution, such as Mini and Mini Pro will follow later on we didn't forget you! )
How we did that?
We have developed a Auto-Magic installation script that will work on any Xperia device by customising system files appropriately during flashing.
Some of the many new and unique features of the upcoming TEAM ROM:
1. Quick sound profiles integrated into the ROM -forget any 3rd party apps, now it's all accessible from the power menu
2. Brightness toggle control with a neat popup you can bring up any time from your statusbar
3. TEAM Tweaks (customise your clock/date/battery/signal text color/size/font, integrated battery bar)
4. Transparency everywhere you look!
5. Elegant TEAM theme
6. New Clock and Calendar from leaked Xperia S GB ROM
7. Tweaks for ambient sensor, minfree and more
8. Enhanced power menu with reboot options: Reboot, Reboot in Recovery, Reboot in Fastboot. If you choose the latter, you will be prompted to insert your USB cable and the procedure will complete only after you have! As convenient as it gets
9. Compatible with any 2.3.4 ROM, any kernel, any current setup. It will not wipe your data or intefere with the way you have been using the phone so far. It will only make it MUCH better
We are introducing the "ROM/AddOn" concept and we are looking forward to your feedback.
ROM/AddOn means:
* One Zip all Phones! with some Scripting magic we can keep all devices updated with a single zip.
And last but not least, don't forget we have great things in store for all of you:
* Full AppMan Support with 100% OTA Capable, Auto-Magicaly Flashed updates (comming soon)
HOW TO INSTALL:
REQUIREMENTS
HAVE AT LEAST 50% BATTERY BEFORE STARTING!
You must also me on a 2.3.4 Stock Firmware
( This is not a Stock based ROM, it is a Sony Stock Firmware )
You will also need Root and CWM
This will work on either Locked or unlocked bootlaoders that meat the above requiments
NO DATA WILL BE WIPED DURING INSTALLATION!
1. Boot into Recovery and make a NANDROID BACKUP ( This is really IMPORTANT, as we can't recover your data! If the fan gets soiled )
2. Flash the "TEAM_ROM_v0001_HDPI.zip" via Recovery.
3. Reboot and let the phone do it's thing as it will be rebuilding caches and settling.
First boot can take up to 10 minutes so be patient!
If you want to use your own custom Clock font:
1. You should place your custom font in folder /system/TEAM/font and it should be a .ttf file named clock_font.ttf.
2. Go to Settings > Tweaks and check the option Custom Font for whatever element you wish (clock, battery, signal, date).
You can now also tweak the text size to your liking!!

Q & A
Q: Where is AppMan?
A: AppMan will suffer a full rewrite and will be ready for a future update!
Q: Can I use this or that kernel for unlock or locked bootloader?
A: ALL kernels built for stock ROMs WILL WORK on this rom. We have tested all of them so take our word for it. ( yes we are flash junkies )
Q: Can I use this or that theme?
A: Short answer, no. Unless of course it is built of our framework. We have made MASSIVE mods to the framework so most themes will disable most, if not all, options in the Tweaks app.
( unfortunatly themers dont like our framework as it changes too often )
Q: I am getting a FC on this or that, can you help me!
A: NO. We can't help you. Because what you just said means nothing to us.
We want to help you SO much, but in order to do that you need to report the bug properly.
We took care of that too, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18195325
Q: OMG YOU STOLE MY WORK! YOU #$!% etc etc etc
A: We kindly ask you that if you have an issue with any of the inclusions in the ROM to either PM me or iridaki so we can sort it out politely There is no need to flame in the thread. Also if we have forgotten credits, please let us know and we will add them immediately.
Q: This rom is stupid, I hope you fail, "that" ROM is better!
A: That's cool, use "that" ROM. There is absolutely no need to report your disgust unless of course you have constructive criticsm. Personal Preference isn't a bug or an issue
We encourage EVERYONE to use the ROM they feel is best for them
Q: wow this is cool can i...
A: HOLD UP read our rules
1- no whining about our work
2- no asking for eta's
3- no asking for eta's
4- no useless posts in development thread
5- logcat or GTFO
6- no asking for eta's

The font is better in v3 but kinda small is there a way to make it larger?

Does exactly what it says on the tin, downloaded over wifi, flashed in recovery (after backing up) and it looks and feels very nice. Contacts/apps/texts/wallpaper was exactly as i left it (as mentioned in OP) very impressed, best ROM ive used on the Play so far and i too am a flashing junkie, great job!

This is great, can't wait for future updates, especially looking forward to having the ability to customise the notification power widget.
Remember to re-set your alarms after flashing this as it installs a new clock (and alarm) app
I'd like to thank you and your mate for making this ROM.
I have a few questions:
How to make a Nandroid Backup ?
And what about gamepad ? Can you make it work without issues?
I am asking this question because it is important to me + untill now I haven't seen it works perfectly on all existing custom ROMs for xperia play.
what kernel needs to be used on this rom? can i use a stock based doomkernel?
Nice to see more devs getting in on xperia models. Just a bit of advice, put GSM label for this thread so it doesn't cause any confusion to the community
I badly want that theme @t the second post *-*

1 - nandroid is a CWM backup.
2 - it shouldn't cause any probs with game pad.

This should work on all variants of the play that have a 2.3.4 OS (NM just figured out the CDMA one is 2.3.3)
The gamepad works perfect no worries. Very nice rom. Only thing I've had trouble with is the font size and color. Its white many times and can't read it. Also the status bar icons don't change from gray clock and battery percent color works. Pop-up windows are white also very hard to read any way to change it?

Quick note on the OP
My apologies for neglecting the original post for nearly a month! I'm a kindergarten teacher, and I've been super busy preparing for the approaching school year.
I think the OP is mostly just a tool for newcomers (especially now that support for the 201 kinda slowed down - I'm sure most of you don't need a guide to flash your daily dose of CM, and don't need an OP!).
That said, I still think it's an important tool, because there are always newcomers. The OP could just get erased entirely and this thread/the discussion would survive, but I don't think newcomers would be as likely to start using CM without a handy OP. Whether or not that matters is up to you. Personally, I like seeing CyanogenMod grow (that's what she said?), and I think a larger install base = a better CM (that's what she said?), but to each their own.
For the nxet few months, I will try to keep up with the updates, but my guess is that I'll update about twice a month. That leaves a few options: 1) just let the OP updates be infrequent, 2) start a new thread, or 3) hand over the reigns to someone else.
option 1: Not my favorite. Like I said, I think a somewhat up-to-date OP is a good thing.
option 2: Not my favorite, UNLESS a mod can merge the new thread with the old thread. Many questions and answers are in these pages, and it's nice to search within a single thread and not the entire board
option 3: My favorite! If someone else wants to take over, it's cool with me. You can even have all of the "thanks," which some people care about so deeply. I only ask that you keep it classy - like CyanogenMod - and flash the updates yourself before posting.
I know from asking the mods before that people can't "share" OPs, I know from experience that nobody wants to do a google docs OP (*sniff*), but maybe someone can take over full ownership? if not, then I push for option two, but I'd like to see this old thread live on! Yes, it's an unofficial thread, but some of the devs have posted here, and I even got dalingrin's blessing in a PM, which is enough in itself to make this thread special!
So if you want to be the OP, just ask me, and we'll ask a mod to do some voodoo. failing that, maybe I could just give you my account...? But I'm not a huge fan of that idea, because I'm still going to use XDA.
Why does this thread exist?
TL;DR answer:
It exists so that the thread title will say something like "[ROM] CyanogenMod 9 / Updated April 3," the OP will have relevant information, and people will have a place to discuss CM9 on XDA.
It does NOT exist because I want thanks (I do not) or because I want to scam people for donations (I have no donation link).
Long answer:
Right before the CyanogenMod team began posting nightlies for the TF201, theeggman posted his own build. In his thread, he stated: "Once official nightly builds are downloadable and confirmed useable, I will no longer regularly update this build." True to his word, his build (and the OP) is no longer updated. Despite the fact that the [KANG] label does not apply to the official nightlies, and the OP is not up to date, CM 9 users like myself are still posting on that thread.
There are two small problems with using that thread: 1) CM 9 users need to check CyanogenMod to see if new builds are available, because the thread title is never updated 2) The OP does not reflect the current offerings from CyanogenMod; unless you read the thread, you wouldn't even know that nightlies exist. I posted my concerns about this yesterday, and asked if anyone would object to a new thread devoted to the official CM nightlies (and stable builds, when/if they become available). Almost 24 hours have passed, and nobody has posted any objections, so I went ahead and created this thread.
Update:
I hoped that this could become a collaborative OP, but I asked Mr. Clown, and he said that it is not possible to share editing rights for posts. However, I really think it could be helpful to collaborate on things that change frequently, especially when considering the fact that we all use our tablet differently. With this in mind, I suggested a Google docs collaboration that could get periodically copied and pasted into the OP. If you're a regular CM user interested in helping, send me your gmail and I'll add you to the doc's list of editors.
Moving on!
CyanogenMod 9 for the TF201!I am not affiliated with CyanogenMod in any way, shape, or form. Please direct your thanks and donations to the CyanogenMod team, or consider donating to some of the other fine TF201 ROM developers on XDA.
Alert! CyanogenMod 9 may irreversibly break your TF201. Also, you need to unlock your bootloader to install CM 9, which completely voids your TF201's warranty. You assume ALL responsibility for any damage. Use CyanogenMod at your own risk. If you are not willing to accept these risks, then do not proceed.
Features: There are dozens of websites - including the official CyanogenMod website, found below - that describe the features of CyanogenMod, so describing them here would be superfluous. If a new feature premieres on a build for the TF201, it will be noted on the build list. In a nutshell, it has a very stock AOSP/vanilla/Nexus feel, but with performance tweaks and added tools/abilities.
Screens can be found here and changelog can be found here. (thanks paddycr)

Known Issues
Remember, this thread is not maintained by a CyanogenMod developer, so these issues are not necessarily going to be addressed; this is just information for people considering using this ROM.
Toggling WiFi on/off can, in certain situations, freeze and reboot the tablet (WiFi issues seem to be completely fixed!)
Screen wakes upon closing tablet dock
External SD does not support NTFS
Battery Stats usage not available (only bar graph, no apps)
CyanogenMod custom setting to skip to next/previous track using volume keys when screen is off works poorly; one track can be skipped, but the volume keys turn the screen on, reverting the volume keys to their volume behaviors. Device is NOT set to wake with volume keys.
These issues are (hopefully) compiled collaboratively by other forum members on a Google doc. If you use CyanogenMod on your Prime, your help with the list would be very appreciated!
Installation instructions
Prior to installation, please make sure you have read and understand the red "Alert!" above.
So your tablet is unlocked has root access? Time to install a custom recovery. When your tablet has root access (helpful) and is unlocked (mandatory), installing a custom recovery is easy, thanks to some amazing apps that are freely available on the android market. If this is your first time flashing a ROM, there are a few different ways to proceed, but I would suggest downloading either "ROM Manager" or "GooManager" from the Play market: they are probably the easiest ways to install a custom recovery. Both are very user-friendly. ROM Manager will help you set up ClockWork Mod (CWM, not to be confused with CM), GooManager will help you set up TWRP.
I get a lot of questions about this, so put another way: The free apps ROM Manager and GooManager can help you install custom recovery ClockWork Mod or TWRP, respectively. You need a custom recovery to install CyanogenMod. Although incredibly helpful, you do not need need ROM Manager or GooManager, but they can help you install a custom recovery. If you're not sure which one to use, just read their threads and see what appeals to you. I'm inclined to suggest ROM Manager / CWM because they have been around for a super long time and it's included with CyanogenMod, but I have used CWM and TWRP with CM9 and they both work great.
If using CWM: You MUST use Clockwork recovery 5.8.2.0 or higher. If you have an older version of clockwork installed, you will run into problems. If you made a nandroid with an older version, make a new nandroid. I think the easiest way to update is to use the ROM Manager app, available on the market.
Update: In fact, use 5.8.2.0 specifically, which can be found in ROM Manager under the heading "all CWM recoveries" (or something) near the bottom of the list. ROM Manager may make you install the latest version of CWM before allowing you to install the alternate versions, but don't let that scare you; just flash the latest, and then flash 5.8.2.0. Apparently the latest CWM update brought some problems for the TF201? someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Have you been using Root Keeper? Great app, but it doesn't play nice with the alternate recoveries (and now that you have an unlocked bootloader, you don't need it anymore anyway - CM9 is already rooted, turn it on/off in the settings). Delete the root backup, uninstall the app, and delete any backups (like TiBu backups) you have made of Root Keeper, as well as any nandroids that include Root Keeper.
The following instructions assume that your bootloader is unlocked and you installed a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP:
1) Download CyanogenMod 9 (below) Be sure to make note of the MD5 checksum. After the download finishes, make sure the MD5 on the download page matches the MD5 on your downloaded file (there are many apps that calculate MD5 freely available on the market). Your ROM file will probably be in your downloads folder.
2) Turn off your prime
3) If docked, remove your prime from the dock
4) Holding the volume down button, turn your prime back on. When you see the white text appear in the top left, press volume up.
5) Make a nandroid backup
6) New to CyanogenMod? Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache. If you're updating from an older nightly, that step is probably not necessary.
7) Install .zip from SD card, and chose the file you downloaded earlier
8) (optional) Install .zip from SD card, and chose the gApps
9) Reboot!
ALSO: Thanks to disturb3d1, you can watch his how-to-install-CM video here. Unlock, root, custom recovery install, and all sorts of other how-to videos are also available.
Download CM 9
As this ROM is build from stock CM sources the GPL parts can be found in the official CM repo (thanks Diamondback)
Download gApps

It seems like other ROMs that need bootloader unlocked to install still have some kind of warning. I'll take it off if you're sure, though.
Thanks for the thread. I don't think I will flash CM9 again until some more features are added, but its great to keep tabs on.
Transformer Prime/Galaxy Nexus CDMA
It's not the ROM that voids warranty but unlocking the bootloader.
As long as you can restore your device at initial factory state your warranty is preserved. For example on my phone I just have to use nvflash to restore a full stock ROM and to have a brand new factory device.. because on LG phones bootloader is open.
So you can remove those warnings, and people know what cyanogen is, even if I'm surprised by the proportion of total Android noobs here (seems like the prime is the first Android device of many here).

Brave man to do that. I would expect that a noob could make a reasonable case for arguing that he assumed you'd thoroughly tested the rom before posting links to it.....
Remember also, users from different jurisdictions read these forums. Having a general disclaimer is unlikely to be a bad idea.
IMHO.

There is nothing to check, he doesn't maintain the server, which is cyanogen one.
And he mentioned in OP that there is an issue with latest nightly download.
Try to report directly to Cyanogen or wait for a new build.

Thanks for the thread . If someone doesn't like it, then just don't read it.
if you want to add this link, it's the changelog for the prime that includes what has been added to the nightly and what's in the works for the next one.

So far what I can see there are the general Cyanogenmod changes, nothing specific for our Prime.

Wow, nice! That's awesome, I never saw that before. Adding now!
The direct DL for the nightly is bad for some reason, but the BT link works just fine and is the full file too.
EDIT: Won't be flashing
Yes, there is something weird with all the direct HTTP download mirrors for the TF201 (yes, all)... as @hakarune said, use the torrent link... it works and so does CM9... been using this since the previous nightly and loving it so far!!! That said, can't wait for more features like notification power widgets...

Sorry, do you mean that you won't be flashing because it doesn't interest you, or are you running into an error when flashing? I ask because the file size does not match the size (about 125 MB) does not match what is listed on the CM download page. In the past, I downloaded directly from the URL or within ROM manager, not BT, is it normal for the .zip file to differ in size?
And thanks for pointing out the BT option, I tried searching for a torrent, but always ended up at the CM download page... I didn't realize that the torrent link was right there!
This is why I wish the OP could be collaborative... I can update what other people post, but it would get updated so much more quickly if others could edit the OP. How about I make a google docs file, give the link to people interested in helping, you can edit whenever, and I'll just periodically copy and paste the google doc into the OP?
I don't have time to try this right now, but I can't wait to try the April 3 nightly!

Download sizes do vary, but not by that much. The size deviation should be somewhere around 2-5mb. That's a guess. If the file size is much different, there is a problem. Basically each nightly is the same with minor changes that shouldn't amount to much more than a couple of megs.
Edit: I should add that, in my experience, if the nightly is bad CWM won't flash it at all.
Fan of Cyan..
Ok so being a Fan of Cyanogenmod, Hell my Evo shift still runs a modded form, Is the 125mb torrent flashable? or not? i would love to get this on my prime, Anyone?
I've made this thread to help people who have some problem and make new threads instead of searching the common questions. In my next post I will start posting the FAQ's and since it's not possible for me to be online 24/7 so it may take sometime but i will keep updating it. And if anyone have some doubts feel free to ask. BTW feel free to PM me if you have some ideas or nice questions to improve this thread

Frequently Asked Questions
Xperia 2011 MDPI Devices.
This a short list of frequently asked questions in this device forum and the answers often given as a response. It should serve as a starting point for gathering knowledge and finding solutions to many common problems. Please only post in this thread with feedback on how to improve this document. Do not post "Thank you" type responses. If you have additional questions or require more help, try to find an existing thread or create your own. Do not use this as a general help thread.
Q1: I get bootloop after installing a custom rom. What is the problem?
A: Have you done everything correctly?
-Firstly post your problem in the ROM thread as the devs there may help you better.
-Check your mobile compatibility with the ROM
-Check if you have installed the correct kernel for your ROM.
-Check whether you have done the correct wipes as mentioned in the ROM thread.
-Some ROMs require formatting system. So if it is mentioned in main ROM thread then you must do it.
-Some releases may require stock rom first before flashing the custom rom. So flash the stock rom and then the custom rom over it.
If nothing works just download the stock ROM for your mobile and flash it using flashtool. This may solve your problem.
Q2: Can you suggest me the best ROM or kernel or something like that for my smartphone cause i'm really lazy to do a bit of searching...?
A: First go here and beware before asking these type of questions again otherwise you will end up with a bunch of people like me mocking you and nothing else.
Q3: I installed wrong device's ROM for my mobile and now my touch has gone. Please help!

A: There are lot of threads on this question. First refer to each one of them and see if it works or see this thread. Most probably your problem might be fixed till now.
Q4: I have rooted my phone successfully, now how can I install CWM (ClockWorkMod) Recovery?
A: If you have locked bootloader you can simply install CWM using an app called x-parts from Google Play and install recovery from it. And if your bootloader is unlocked you can simply flash a custom kernel with CWM or some other recovery present in it.
Q5: How do I port MIUI or HDPI ROM for our Xperias?
A: Refer to sandy7's awesome guide which will help you the best way possible.
Q6: I have a problem with this ROM and what should I....
A: It's a ROM specific question, better post it in the ROM thread. They will help you better.
Q7: My phone can't boot in fastboot mode. Please help me!

A: Firstly check that fastboot is enabled on your mobile and the correct procedure to go to fastboot mode is by holding vol-up button and connecting to computer via USB.
Q8: WIFI is not working. What should I do?
A: See if it is listed as a bug in the specific ROM thread. If not try custom kernels and if you can get correct WIFI modules flash them. If you're lucky WIFI will work.
Q9: How do I install custom rom/kernel on my mobile?
A: Mihahn has worked really hard on making his guide not because he wants some people asking again and again the same questions instead of using a bit of the "SEARCH" feature.
Q10: What is the safest way to root my phone or unlock its bootloader?
A: There no such thing as safest way. If you do everything correctly you will be successful in rooting you phone and unlocking the bootloader.
Q11: How to activate MSC(mass storage mode) on CM10?
A: Though this question is of a particular rom but still I've listed it here since many people asked this question. Just go here, thanks the person and perform the steps correctly.
Q12: I did an OTA(Over the Air) update after unlocking bootloader. Now my phone is dead, what should I do?
A: Just go to this thread, thanks the person. Refer to section 6 and download the unbricking package from no.16 of XX.Downloads section, perform the correct steps and most probably your phone will be back to life!
Q13: Unlocking bootloader using TestPoint method is not working for my device. Please help.
A: For the newly manufactured phone(above 12w11), TestPoint method will not work. You can still use the official method or se bootloader unlocking tool.
Q14: How do I unlock my bootloader if it says Bootloader Unlock Allowed:No?
A: No one has actually got a 100% working solution since it is because of your simlock, thus you may have to pay for it. You can try WotanServer or Omnius and if you're lucky it will be unlocked and fastboot might be enabled.
Q15: How do I OC(OverClock) or UC(UnderClock) my phone?
A: If your kernel supports the function and if your ROM has inbuilt option for the fuction then you can do it directly from ROM or else you can buy/download apps like SetCPU for your phone and can use it easily to OC, UC or change governer of your CPU. *Playing with your CPU is at your own risk and if you go anywhere wrong your phone might not be able to recover(permanent brick). So if you are a newbie(noob) just stay away from these things*
Q16: How much OverClocking is advised for my phone?
A: Though there are some kernels which provide Over Clocking from 1.6-2 GHz(GigaHertz), but still you should not overclock above 1.2-1.4 GHz for daily use or else your CPU might burn, turning your phone into permanent brick. *I personally do not advise overclocking at all so do everything at your own risk.
Q17: How do I partition my sd-card?
A: Follow this very nice guide given by sayhellotwoheaven. Don't forget to THANK him.
Q18: How does Thanks Meter affect my profile?
A: Thanks Meter actually is not useful in becoming Recognized Contributor/Themer/Developer. It is actually the appreciation you get on you works. Thanks Meter has been made so that members of XDA stop posting just THANKS on threads and thread could be clean and helpful.
Q19: How to be a Recognized Contributor/Themer/Developer?
A: Recognized Contributor is a role intended for members who produce some of the best original and helpful guides for users, as well as helping other users who have problems, in a friendly manner. Recognized Contributors will get a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Contributors, should you feel deserving of this title.
Recognized Themers are those users who work (often tirelessly) on designing new theme graphics and user interface overhauls for ROMs. Users who aspire to be Recognized Themers should be creating original graphics work for their themes being released, demonstrate a commitment to crediting other users’ work when applicable, and seek the relevant permission in advance from the original creator. Recognized Themers will receive a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Themers, should you feel deserving of this title.
Recognized Developer, as the name suggest are those who develop really good ROMs, kernels, etc. Anyone who is skillful and publishes his own creation other that just copying and pasting can be termed as recognized developer.
For more details and how to apply for these posts. See this.
Q20: How to add framework mods like skipping track via volume button, small apps, CRT-off animation, etc.?
A: See this very beautiful guide by Sandy7 and jader13254 which will help you a lot. Just give them THANKS.
Q21: How to Decompile/Recompile ICS apk files?
A: Here is a great guide by stanlin salu. Just follow that and you can very easily do it. Just don't forget to give him THANKS.
Q22: What are Governors and I/O Schedulers, etc.?
A: See this very good guide by zhanjia and anyone can know everything about them.
Q23: My ROM doesn't have x-loud and BE(Bravia Engine). How do I install them?

A: Simply download a very nice app know as Pimp My Rom from Google Play and install it and you can get many tweaks and options in that. It also has an option to download BE and x-loud for your ROM if it's compatible.
Q24: Does ChainFire support my phone?
A: The simple answer is download and use it. But if you are on ICS/JB I would recommend you not to use it as it may most probably result in bootloop. ChainFire is compatible only upto GB.
Q25: Why does my phone say Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No?
A: It's most probably a simlock. The mobile you bought has a simlock of the particular company whose SIM is being used. Normally the companies used to provide the unlocking code after sometime but now I think it won't be provided from now since simlock unlocking has become illegal. But you can break your simlock through WotanServer, Omnius or some local shops.
Q26: Can you tell me how does thanks meter increases with regard to number of thanks?
A:No. of Thanks and meter:
0-25

Q27: Aroma installer is half-size in my phone. How to solve this?
A: Firstly thanks to abcdjdj for letting me know this. Aroma installer is shown in half-screen in all kernels which have CWM Recovery 6.0. So you can fix it only by changing your kernel or recovery, if you can.
Q28: What are BB Codes and what BB Codes can I use in my thread?
A: Mainly every kind of text formatting that we do in XDA thread is governed by BB codes. Here is the list of all the BB Codes we can use in XDA and explanation of each code.
Q29: Is there anyway to mount my sd-card using CWM recovery?
A: Yes! Many versions of CWM support mounting sd-card through it. For that go to Mounts and Storage->Mount sd-card and you're done! But remember if you press back button then your sd-card will unmount instantly.
Q30: How do I add [SOLVED] tag to my thread/how do I change title of my thread?
A: Just check here and similar way you can also change the title of your thread.
Q31: Can you make a program for all the important links and guides?(I don't know if it belongs to FAQ but it's a good tool)
A: Yes. mnishamk made a good tool. You can use it for that. Here's the link.
Q32: My phone can't restore the backups I made from recoveries. Why?
A: Well there could be various reasons for it. It may happen because you might have made backup from CWM and restoring via TWRP or vice-versa. CWM makes the recoveries in the yaffs2 image for while the extension of twrp recoveries are .win.img so backups made in one recovery wouldn't be visible on other.
Another reason could be that you have renamed your backups and they have spaces in them. Remove the spaces and voila! you would be able to restore now!

Kaioken Rom
PLEASE make sure to thank the developer for the dedication to his ROM
Please do not clutter the Development thread with non development-related chatter
FAQ
Q Why a special Q&T Thread for a specific ROM??
A The bigger a ROM development thread gets, the greater the chance that posts are being placed in this thread that are not related to the ROM development itself, e.g. problems with flashing, installation, bugs, things not working etc. However this is understandable, it's not according to the guidelines of XDA for Development sections. Therefore the main goals of the ROM specific Q&T threads is to avoid this cluttering of the original develpment thread with these OT posts by redirecting the posters to the ROM specific Q&T thread and also to relieve the developer from answering these post, so he can dedicate his time to developing.
Q How to move my post to the Q&A/T thread?
A Copy the text of your post in the dev's thread, got to the Q&A/T thread and paste it there. After having done that, go back to the dev's thread, edit your post and change the text into: moved to Q&A/T thread, preferably accompanied with a link to this thread.
Q When I'm asked to move my post to the Q#A/T thread, do I have to do that?
A When you're asked to move your post, there will always be given an explanation by the OP of the Q&A/T, e.g. your post is not development related (f.i. SD card problems, etc), so please be so kind to move your post. If you want to help the dev to keep his original thread as clean as possible from OT posts, then the answer is, of course, YES. Although we cannot force you to move your post, it's highly recommended to do so
Q Where can I download this ROM and How do I install?
A You can find the link to download and installation instructions HERE. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.
Q What are the known issues with these ROM's?
A See THE Developer's thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342045
Q How’s battery life?
A I see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...
Q How do I...
A Ask your questions and report your issues in this thread. You will receive a response and hopefully get you back up and running this ROM to it's fullest
Explaining the purpose of our Q&A/T threads for specific ROM's to posters.
"Hi dear followers of this ROM,
in this post I will explain the goal of this specific thread created for this ROM with the permission of the Developer of this specific ROM.
This is a statement made in the Q&A/T template thread:
"While our forum has slowly been morphing, the one area we would like to keep original is Development
The goal is to alleviate the OT banter that occurs within any rom. While the XDA forum continues to grow, we need to help users work within the guidelines created by XDA. Over the last couple of years the average rom being created, has become a free for all chat thread. There tends to be much infighting and mod/developer cleaning.
The idea of this template is to create a Questions and Answers for each rom. This is in no way asking for Development to be moved here, rather any and all conversation that is non Development related to your conjoined Q&A."
This means that non-development related posts, should be posted - with the permission of the Dev - in this thread. What are the most common Off Topic posts, that should be posted in this Q&A/T thread?
1. Battery life related posts
2. Will this app work with this ROM
3. SD Card related problems
4. How do I dowmload and install this ROM, etc, etc
Hope to have given you enough information,
kindest regards, Kuzibri
Welcome all to the Q&A thread for Kaioken Rom! I will make a FAQ here shortly!

dirty-flashing, etc
1a) With what versions/updates can the ROM be flashed over itself without issues?
1b) Can initial installs be flashed over with the newest version?
2) Does everything still work fine if I uninstall the stock launcher after installing another launcher/ Nova.
I found an issue where after flashing this rom, I flashed over to speedrom 9 and lost all data connectivity, even with apn info filled in... does Kaioken rom change the radio settings??

Did you format all partitions? My Rom doesn't change radio settings. You can't dirty flash to other roms, you'll get problems.

yea no, I always format partitions before flashing roms. Anyhow, it may not be this rom that caused it, but I was curious

If you permanently lost radio settings (no idea how stuff like that can happen), try using the RUU as your last resort.

Disable Fastboot
Hi Afnan, just tried your Kaioken ROM, seems good so far, good work. I was wondering how do I turn of Fastboot as there is no Power option in settings? Is there any other setting menu or have you removed the option?
Thanks
Turning Off WiFi Calling
Hi Afnan, with version 3.0 of your Kaioken ROM, can one disable WiFi Calling altogether? I know you have replied to this before that there is no option to turn it off in AOSP based ROMs, but I thought may be there is some other way. Deleting WiFi Calling apk from /system/app and WiFi Calling Setting via Titanium Backup does not work and it still gives WiFi Calling error on statusbar for those sims which do not support wifi calling.

Hi Gi__an!
I am not too familiar with fast boot to be honest. If you can turn it off in Speed Rom, you most likely won't be able to turn it off here. Sorry if this isn't the answer you wanted.

Hello there unikorn!
Well unfortunately for AOSP - like Sense roms with the aosp settings, it is hard cooked in, with no way to get it out.
I think I do know a way though, you have to use an archiver on your computer, when you downloaded this rom, you must open the rom, go to system/app (open system folder, then app folder). Then copy the Wifi Calling files from a Sense ROM such as ENERGY rom into Kaioken's app folder. I think the files you need to copy are ims-service.apk, WifiCalll.apk, and Wifirouter.apk. They were named something like that.
Sorry if this is a lengthy workaround, I will probably have to make a Wifi calling remover flashable zip for this rom lol.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
That would be awesome indeed. I don't know even if I replace these files, the option would still be enabled as it is enabled by default in Sense ROM if I am not mistaken. But I will give it a try. Till then if a flashable zip comes up, that will make the task easier.
Cheers

ART guide
when u will add ART guide?
This looks awesome. Which kernel should I flash if I want to try it out? The one mentioned in your first post leads to a dead link.
Do the camera, and camera apps work ok?
Is it based on CM11, and can we use CM11 themes?
ION kernels seem to have quite a few issues on the builds i've tried so far. Vanir, Carbon and PAC. How does this one hold up on the stability side of things?
What's the system free space after installing and flashing the smaller gapps linked?
ART is listed as being supported, but so far, switching to ART on my satsuma results in severely limited space issues. I presume that's still the case here.
Pardon all the questions. I did try the linked FAQ, but it didn't seem to have extended install instructions as mentioned.
Thanks very much for the great effort.

1.the ION kernel should be used
it is included in rom zip
2.the rom is pretty stable apart from some minor bugs like youtube & some brightness issues
hope OP is workin on it
3.we get around 50-60mb free space after installing smaller gapps
4.yes,we get limited space after enabling ART ,hardly ~160mb,right?
for using ART we should have atleast 500mb partition on sd with some scripts
right now OP is workin for ART support
5.IDK about special extended install instructions
Thanks if worked
My youtube doesn't work. It doesn't play videos, everything else is fine. Playing in browser also doesn't work.
What can I do?

To be honest, no, becouse i didnt found anywhere that i have to I thought that the kernel is inside the zip and it's going to be flashed automaticly.
So, can u tell me, what have i do first? unzip the rom and what now? flash the boot.img (i suppose that this is the kernel ) with flashtool or something?

Yup. Exactly that. I'm having trouble entering recovery mode after flashing the kernel on my satsuma device. The volume rockers seem to have no effect, and I can't boot in to recovery for the next steps.
can i use nAa kernel?

No. Not as far as I know. You'd do best to use the included kernel. I still can't get in to recovery after flashing it though. I'm not sure why.

Our devices, even all SONY devices has a different type of bootloader
So we cant flash any type of kernel through recovery
U have to extract rom zip
There will be an boot.img file
U will have flash it through fastboot with pc
Using flashtool or u can use kernel flasher by ghostfreak its simple to use

Hi, I'm using this rom on my xperia arc s. I've flashed the included kernel and followed everything per the instructions (I had to flash it twice, as the first time saw missing Gapps and a rather frustrating "sim has been added, restart your device" message at every boot).
Now, though, I'm having problems with the battery life. I haven't installed any apps from the market, completely wiped the device and flashed the rom + light gapps, but my phone is being kept in an almost perpetually woken state. At first, it was the calendar and now messaging, that's keeping my phone awake. I can't put everything on blacklist, because it prevents me from receiving messages or my alarms going off at the expected times.
Do you have any suggestions? I really enjoy the rom. It looks nice, it's stable (haven't experienced any crashes), and while not lightning quick, doesn't seem to have many slowdowns besides of a bit of a delay when turning the screen on.

The "sim has been added, restart your device" message at every boot is a bug on all the ION roms i've tried. Just cancel it. No need to reboot.
Check your processor usage. It might just need some time to settle. Someone else reported something similar in another thread.
Hello,
I just installed today this ROM and I have a problem.
When the phone starts is starts with WiFi turned ON. This is ok. BUT if I turn it OFF I can't turn it back on. I have to reboot the phone. Or to turn airplane mode on and off and then it activates automatically. I noticed that on the power widget when i deactivate the WiFi it remains lit but only with a fade color, like it doesn't fully deactivates. I need help to fix this please.
Thank you.
LE: Airplane mode thing doesn't work anymore. Only reboot phone works to activate WiFi again.
