Dear all,
I'm a bit puzzled.
I'm having my Tab 10.1 running CM10.1 with native Android 4.2.2 multi user support.
I have two users.
Now I want to backup all user apps and data of both users in order to flash an AOKP based ROM.
With Titanium I didn't find a proper solution.
When backing up both accounts it works, but restoring makes problems. When having both users created then after restoring apps and data for the primary user all apps also show up for the secondary user.
When only creating the second user after the restore I face the opposite problem after restoring the apps for the secondary user, as all the apps then also show up for the primary one. It seems TB is not able to somehow manage correctly the managment of user apps releated to the native multi user support.
Also Carbon/Helium backup doesn't work as it only runs in the profile of the primary user but not in the one of the secondary user.
A NANDROID also doesn't help, as then in the data partition still all the data related to my old (CM10.1) rom are stored which may lead to incompabilities with the new (AOKP) rom.
So what is the way to backup and restore user apps and data of both primary and secondary user as currently installed?
Thanks for your help

Late response, but I dump this post. I ran into the same problem, but I'm non-rooted. I have Carbon but I would like to backup game data from a secondary user account. Carbon only shows apps on the primary account.
Have you came up with a solution to your problem? Please share because I want a solution as well.
Thanks,

Generally you want to back up apps and system data if you want to keep things like wireless setup, etc. When you restore though, do not restore system apps, and restore your users apps with data, and the system data you would like to have, i.e. wireless settings.
I, for one, only backup user apps and data.
And I will support the dev if I feel the app is outstanding, which TB is in every way!
Hi:
I just created a second user, and i'm wondering if there is a way to move an app (and its data) from the primary user to the secondary user. I have already tried using Titanium Backup, making a backup in the primary user, and restoring it in the secondary user, but it didn't work (it only restored the data on the primary user again). I tried to find a similar thread, but didn't find one.
I have a Nexus 7, running ParanoidAndroid 3.15, and I have root access on both users.
Thanks =).
Instead of having 2 accounts on 1 ROM, I recommend having 2 ROMs using MultiRom.
Thanks =), that'll surely work, although I would like know if there is a way to move app data, either manually or with an app, between users.
I'll have in mind your recommendation if nothing else works out.
Titanium Backup works with MultiRom so you can backup your app+data on one ROM then install it on the other.
Hello,
I'm facing a problem I couldn't find a solution to:
Android 4.2 introduced multi user feature, which is very useful for tablets.
My problem is how to back the users applications with Titanium. It works ok for the main user, but fails on restoring for the secondary user. Some strange things happen during restore:
1. Titanium didn't extract apps list for the secondary user, even though I directed Titanium to the right backup locations and saw the files there.
2. When I restored on the second user from the first user backup directory, the app was installed on the two users accounts, then I got wrong UID warning on every boot. I hade to wipe data to get rid of that...
To recap: right now I can only backup and restore apps for the main user account. I will appreciate any help on how to do it for the secondary account as well.
Thanks!
Thank you.
Is there another solution or workaround for this issue?
Hello, I was handed an i9100 with stock Samsung GB on it and requested to migrate it to cm10.x. I backed up accounts, bt pairings, bookmarks, call logs, messages, and wifi access points with Titanium Backup 6.1.4.3, then flashed dorimax kernel and then cm 10.1.3 stable. now i'm trying to restore all data backed up prior and unfortunately find i'm unable to do so...
I've tried with "migrate system data" both enabled and disabled in TiBU preferences, i've tried restoring the normal android way and file way but it's not working
Is there any chance of success here or will i have to go back to stock gb, try restore all data, backup using another app and then flash cm 10.1.3 again? very lengthy procedure hence i'm reluctant to proceed with this route...
System data restore is a big no-no from one Android version to another. User apps & data only (and even then some data might not play nice for various reasons). Don't forget, you're making a huge leap going from GB to CM10, a lot changed (in Android).
Edit - Call logs/msgs are easy enough to backup/restore though; use the backup/restore to/from XML in Ti. The other stuff you'll need to setup manually (BT & WiFi stuff). Accounts you should be able to restore the normal way (Google, Samsung, Firefox, whatever). No need to use Ti.

i was just able to restore accounts from the titanium backup created earlier, involved pasting accounts.db file into data/system/users/0 folder.
unfortunately, the phone owner's contacts weren't being sync'd with the google account so i think i'm in hot water there
i might also be able to restore wifi, bt etc. as they only involve pasting files from titanium backup into the appropriate folder but contacts and messages seems to be a huge problem for me
Hi
I had backed up my Data partition using TWRP.
Flashed a new rom clean but as I did not use Titanum to backup I want to restore using nandroid.
So I gave Titanium permissions to read and write sms and then restored phone/messaging storage.
After its done I open messenger and see the sms appear for a second and then dissapear. After reboot they still gone.
Any help on this?
Running Dirty Unicorns on Angler.
So 6.1.
Being on DU you should know better then restoring system data. Nandroids are not for that and should never be used for this purpose. If you want to keep your sms then you should have backed them up with an sms backup app.
Not all apps or roms for that matter keep things in the same place. Nor do they code them the same. This is why it is advised never to restore any system data at all.

....I been doing it all the time on EVERY rom I have ever used since my HTC Sensation.
Never had problems.
The issue this time was, original DU nightly had issues with git sync so dirty flashed caused FCs so they reuploaded it today fixed.
So I lost all my data, normally I use XML export of SMS in titanium and it works.
And I have also previously restored sms from nandroid on all roms without issue but this is first time on 6.0.1 ROM where its not working correctly.
Use sms backup. It is free and works great and takes into account the different ways apps handle the sms data base.
There are more issues then a simple repo sync. The devs are aware of the issue and working to fix it. Like out of memory errors that is cause by Google changing something in art but not pushing them to aosp.
