Eh, I'm sure it will be released eventually. (Probably not too long from now) If you're rooted, most of the HTC "stock" ROMs already have this stuff baked in. If not, our time will come! :good:
I hope our update rolls out soon

Quick question:
What happens to those of us who have a SIM unlocked One with a custom ROM (CleanROM)? Will we still get the firmware update in some way, for example will be able to just flash it or something? The option in the settings menu "AT&T Software Update isn't there for me anymore.

As soon as an update hits someone will release a stock rooted version. No need to worry about ota releases ever again.

But don't get me wrong, this phone is my favorite by far. And I've had the epic, OG EVO, and the shift. And this kills all those. Dead.

I know it might be too late for this OTA, but I wonder if it closes the exploit to obtain temp root.
Just wondering How and where did you happen to get this info from?
Yeah where's your source.
I still wont touch any updates, im not loosing any chances for full root and unlocked. Ill deal with it, im sure it'll be baked into a custom ROM when theyr'e available.

Actually, the VM notification bug has already been fixed as long as you have S-OFF thanks to rootzwiki. Let's see how long it takes them to integrate that fix, assuming they go that route. In other words, if you are using the rooted MR3 OTA then you are good to go. The fix also works on other GB roms as well and I believe Bamf already includes it.

Eh, I didn't really word that right. I just meant that is where people are getting that info. It most likely was a Twitter post or something, but probably from the VZW support account. All good. I just like to sort out the entitlement-minded barking moonbats that get panties in a wad when something doesn't descend from on high according to the gospel words of..... the internet rumor mill! They kinda drive me nuts.
My phone just blanketed my screen with a notification that there's a Service update. Simply written "The update is complete and changes will now be applied"
Kinda irked cause it didn't notify me that there was one that i could simply DOWNLOAD, no it just downloads it, and wants to apply it RIGHT away. What the hell is this new update? i'm pretty sure a'lot of you are going to see this pretty soon, otherwise i can only cancel it by pressing home, but it KEEPS COMING BACK.
Edit: should i really be scared about it? i mean the boot loader is already unlocked by HTCDev, should i REALLY care about this update? well besides getting rid of root... now that i think about it.. but then again. I might just let it do it so everyone knows what version it is, and what exactly it entailed. i swear if i get locked out of root from this ill get mad, but whatever. xD FOR SCIENCE!!!!!!! as it were
Edit2: sooo now im feeling kinda dumb, i just realized that it could have possibly just done a profile update itself, the notification went away after pressing ok, but the device didn't reboot. but then again i dont see anything that could have updated. WTf did i just experience? XD does this phone have some ability to update the profile or PRL itself?
Check your prl # in settings and tell us what it says
Edit: yea nvm that was deff. a profile update no worries needed your good

Also, One X is getting a SW update from HTC to remove the bottom menu bar. Wish we could be so lucky. Of course, I would wait til devs release a rooted version and never accept from HTC. I did think it was cool of HTC to address that promptly, though.

Now I'm not your average user. I've only owned two android phones: the LG esteem and now the DNA. The Esteem was really a solid phone and the development team really allowed the phone to go above and beyond its limits. Though I loved my Esteem the DNA just blows it out the water in all aspects. I rooted my Esteem because it wasn't as good stock. A phone like this makes me wonder is it even necessary to root because it's already so fast and so smooth.
And that's pretty much my question. As I hold my DNA in my hand I'm wondering if I should go ahead and root or just keep it as stock. What do you guys think?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
I've been stuck on stock because I took the ota. But the stock Rom for me has been amazing I'm patiently waiting for the unlock. But it's great maybe one of the first phones I'm really content on stock. I've been keeping up with custom roms and some really still seem to have some issues and quirks like wireless charging issues and Bluetooth not working. Phones not going into deep sleep I don't have any of those issues.

Giving root to everyone might not be optimal for average users that aren't tech savvy... however it really shouldn't be difficult to get root access...once a device is bought, the users should have the right to do what they want with it. Think about buying a laptop and not being able to put an OS you want on it...could we have a petition to force companies to let the device really be owned by the user after its been payed for?

That doesn't remove the ota, it removes the files on your phone that control the ota.
If you are not rooted and on the ota there is no way to root(for now) and no way to revert back to the older software version, period.

Highly likely. This link is more of a rumor sourced article. But I have seen sales pages that say "upgradable to 4.2.2".

I'm running the Renovate Rom from the International HTC One forums and it has the quick toggles, also has long press the back button for menu which gets rid of the black bar menu on bottom.
The rom and the kernel work fine on the AT&T version (LTE and All)
