Switching over - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Well after 3 galaxy note 2 replacement devices I've talked att into sending me an htc one instead. So ill be over on this side come monday. Hope I like it over here with the one. Last htc device I had was the one x and I wasn't impressed with mainly the memory management problems so that didn't last long. We will see how it goes. Nice to see scotts clean roms are over here

The One is the device the One X should have been. Loved the One X, this phone is even better.

Hope so. Im anxious to get it

HTC One has been awesome so far. Minor gripes are.... phone is so slippery that I'm afraid that I'm going to drop it and I don't want to put a case on it... of course, this is just a side effect of how cool the phone is. Also, phone is missing the menu/properties button so that's a bit annoying... I have to use the hold back button fix.

Same thing here... Had a massive amount of defective Nokia 920s, AT&T swapped me to a Note 2. 3 defective ones in a month, and they're swapping that to the 64gb One. Looking forward to (hopefully) getting a good refurb.

Just got my One earlier today and it is fantastic so far!

Just received mine in this morning and I must say this is an amazing device. Only gripe right now is the button sensitivity which is supposed to be fixed in the next update. For me a huge improvement over the note 2

I'm coming from the S4, traded it for a One. Best decision I have made in a long time.

What did you say to them to let you switch devices? I'm having issues with the Note 2 replacements they've been sending me. I'm on my 2nd now, but I have to do this all over again, so this'll make 3. Did you say it was an issue with Samsung refurbs or something? I think it's great that they let you do this.

Yeh basically I told them I was having to many problems with their note 2 replacement devices and that I did not want to go through the process any more. He put me on hold and spoke to his manager and then told me I could pick another device.

Beautiful. Like I said, I'm having issues with their replacements also, so we'll see how they are with me. Thanks.

I have the One and I went through 5 of them now. This one will be getting switched too (2 stuck pixels).. I love the phone though lol I wish they could upgrade me to the 64 gig or something but they gave me a credit on my bill. AT&T has been nice.

Is the Original Note Worth signing a contract?

Hi, I was hoping for a little help with my decision. I am up for an upgrade this coming Monday and it works out that I can get an original Galaxy Note for $50 on contract. I can also get the Gs3 for the same price, but I love the size of the Note. So basically is there a lot of development for the Note? Is everyone here happy with getting the Note and would they keep their Note over a Gs3?

Wait 2 more months for the Note 2.
♥★♥ My phablet Galaxy Note ♥★♥
Well my only problem with that is I can't afford the Note 2, thats why I asked about the original Note.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
My reasons for choosing the note over sg3:
Big screen (don't think I could go back at this point)
S pen
This may be weird, but I don't like the button on the front screen of the sg3.
Hardware is fine, even though sg3 is a little bit nicer.
The Rom community for the note is very active.
Either way, you're getting a badass phone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the information, I was worried about getting a year-old phone and not having much development for it.
We know the note is a great device.....
And we "think " the note 2 will be a great device ...
Call me old fashioned .... but I like a device with a track record ....and this device has one.
I'd buy it again in a second ...g

I had the same decision and jumped on the Note. It's impossible to beat that price and I don't think the Note 2 will be worth $150 more than the Note 1. I'm also betting that most of the additional Note 2 functionality will find its way into the Note 1. I've gone back and forth between the Collective ROM and the OnlyOne which I understand isn't being worked on anymore. It gave me S-Voice and other SG3 functionality that I can't remember right now. Like you, I've got the TP running the latest CM9 nightly and the Inspire 4G running the latest Jelly Time. The Note is far and away my favorite. The screen is amazing.
Would you happen to know if CM10 runs well on it as well? I really appreciate all of the feedback and advice. I usually leave my phones stock for a month or do, then its flashing time! So I'm hoping the Note had a lot of choices when it comes to custom ROMs.

I've been running PA (found in the original dev section) and it's great, a couple of small issues but the phone is soo smooth. Also there's been an announcement from Samsung that says they'll be putting out an official JB ROM. Personally I love the Note and I'm still not sold on the next one. If you want to get an awesome price, wait for a couple of weeks before the Note 2 is released, you should be able to get it for next to nothing.
As it stands now I can get it for $50, brand new on contract. Thats a great deal I think.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Just my two cents i have owned both the GS3 and the Note and so far i think the note blows away the GS3 it is nice and as quick as my GS3 was.
The thing is huge but after a couple days you become used to it and will not notice its size also the screen is beautiful processor seems solid battery life is good and i pound on my battery streaming surfing the web and playing music and i get a solid 5 hours and thats constant use if i leave it alone it will go the whole day which i couldnt with the GS3
Sound quality for the speaker is so-so but ive come to expect this from phones now when i plug my headphones in the sound is crystal and sharp
Also running CM10 some weird issues but nothing that is a deal breaker all in al i say you cant go wrong
I'll probably hold out on CM10 if JB is coming soon, but thanks for the help. You guys are all making my decision so much easier!

Got 2 upgrades next month and another in February..
Its powered by Jellybeaned AOKP!

Consider Sony Xperia Z as backup?

Just like everyone else here I am absolutely loving my note. Hands down the best phone I've had yet. But I was wondering if anyone is curious about the Xperia Z. Watched a few videos, visited the site and just went through the specs. It might not be all around as great as the note 2, but its going to be a close competitor. With the 13 mp camera I am positive I'll be using my upgrade in October to get one, assuming Verizon offers it.

No not really, its a sweet lookin phone but the Note 2 is a beast. Also I thought it wasn't coming to Verizon? And I'm hoping the Moto X kills every phone when it finally hits, rumored to be sold on the play store with a low non contract price, killer specs and to be the first real Moto/Google phone since Google bought them and unlockable. I believe this will be my next phone.

The Note2 is light years ahead of the iPhone 5. Apple has a lot of catching up to do!
Yeah I've been an Android user since the g1 and couldn't think of ever using an iPhone. My wife loves her iPad but was tired of carrying that thing around so she traded her Samsung Alias (old ass flip phone) for the iPhone 5. After two days of use she complained about how small it is and her eyes were hurting from looking at it even with the enlarged font. So she went back to Verizon and got the same phone as me, the white Galaxy Note 2. She's been loving that thing since she entered her gmail address into it. She loves the size because its way bigger than that iPhone yet smaller than her tablet.

Same here, bro. At first I was like, what did I do, this thing is too big, can't use it one handed, but after 1 solid week of use, I was in love. Now after 3 months of use, I can't imagine using anything else. The "bigness" goes away very quickly. It looks normal size to me now. Anytime someone says,Damn that's a big phone, I am like, whaaa?
This phone seems small to me now that ive been using it for 2 months lol
I've had this phone for 2 weeks now and finally got used to the size (but I just picked up a UAG case and it feels big again). Switched from an iphone 5, but iOS is crap. Loving all of the customization with pacman rom.
I guess you ALL once an idiot?? LOL, I'm head of my household and my last name is "GALAXY", my wife and 2 daughters are named Galaxy S3, my son named Galaxy Note2 and myself...well still Samsung Droid Charge! hey at least I still with Samsung generation...at least!

HTC One vs Note 2

So I went to the HTC One and have had a few days to play with it. I really like the build materials, speakers, and 1080p.
However, I keep picking up my Note 2 and wondering if I should go back to it.
Maybe it's tough going back down in screen size. Maybe I actually like the feel of the bigger phone because it feels more substantial. Not that I have had an issue with battery life yet since I haven't had much time to dabble, but the Note 2 had superb battery life in stock form.
I think both devices do different things really well. It's more about deciding which one is a better fit for ME I guess.
I got to make a decision because I know my girlfriend is waiting for me to pick and bug me for the other!
Thoughts?

The ir blaster is fun. I am going to play with the One a bit more in depth this weekend. Usually when I change devices I never look back, but the Note 2 was very good to me! For work related purposes, the Note 2 is better hands down.
The size is what made me decide to try the One as well. I commute on a motorcycle every day, so the Note can become cumbersome.
I know what you mean. They really got it right with the Note 2. Keep both and get your girl something else

I have a Note 2 as well and I have to say that for as much as I love it, I definitely prefer the HTC One. It certainly took some getting used to the size again but I do prefer it. The build quality and even Sense5 and the camera make it well worth it. Also if the Note 2 was 5.3" then I think I would have liked it more. 5.5 is a bit large for one handed operation and it makes it bulge out of my pocket. Either way just pick the one hat makes you happy
If you value battery, big screen, lots of software feature , external SCCard up to 64GB, removable battery, and don't mind looking at a 720p screen, i say Note 2 without a doubt.
HTC One is cool when you use it in first week. After a while, the aluminum and the good looking grow tired.

Switching to the HTC One (or any smaller phone)

I've been slowly making the switch from my Verizon Note 2 to the HTC One on T-Mobile and I've quickly learned a few things.
1. That initial realization that the Note just can't be compared to any other standard sizes phone. There is no way I could say either the One or the Note is better just because they were designed for two completely different ways of use. But the only thing I'm going to miss from Samsung is the multi-window feature. I'll live without the pen.
2. Removable storage. there was something really convenient about being able to swap SD cards depending on my day. I have a music card and a video card that I would switch out if I was going to work or just vegging on the couch while beaming videos to the tv.
I've seen many times people talking about switching phones and almost immediately coming back to the Note, but there's a more specific switch I had to make in my daily routine to make me not want to come running back. I mean, the One is in no way a small phone, but when set next to the Note, it looks like a 4.3 inch phone. That's where I'm having to make the switch. The fact the my phone needs to be a phone is where the One becomes a better fit for me.
TLDR Peace yall. I'm moving to the HTC One.

I left Verizon in April this year and made that stupid decision to try tmobile again. In fact I too had the HTC one. I loved the phone, so smooth. I just couldn't live with spotty coverage and no signal at my office. I came back to Verizon this month and have the note 2. Everyone tells me that I sound so much clearer and louder than how I sounded on the HTC one. Plus my husband HATED when I was on blue tooth with the HTC one, he said it sounded like I was talking behind a grinder or a blender with rocks in it. Not the case with the note2, very clear. Plus the final straw was not receiving text messages and missing dozens of calls even with a signal. You will be back to Verizon, trust me it's worth every penny!
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy Note II
Two things, both personal opinions:
1. HTC sucks
2. Tmob sucks more than HTC.
The HTC one actually performs very well, just not sure if every HTC one is plagued with poor sound quality with calls. Since I got the note 2 I can't see how I survived with anything smaller. Great screen, love the multi-task feature and the s pen. And yes, t-mobile does suck.
