Farewell Optimus One - Optimus One, P500, V General

After 2 years, 2 painful yet fun years, 2 awesome years of Optimus One Development and Rooting, it time to move on to a better device. Farewell Optimus One, you have served me well. :crying:

Yup...went to L9.....cannot forget O1 as its my first android device.....still use it sometimes as media player.....better than most of the low budget phones...

Oh yes, the little One is my first smartphone too. Greatest phone ever, and the best among my group of friends. I'll be switching phones in mid July, also after 2 years. I'd like a G too, but I haven't seen it around and I have a short budget. What can you recommend for mid category? Was thinking of the ZTE Grand X.
P.S. : sorry for writing this here. I just wanted to take this chance to ask. Good luck with the Giant

Last week I completed 2 years of O1 my first Android, agree with the above, cuz it was an unforgettable experience. no Moving on to Micromax Canvas HD A116. Guys one Question on P500 does the ICS roms or the JB roms consume less battery power ?

As of now, ics is better for battery use.

+Thanks for this comment. in that case I will go ahead with Hephappy's ICS 2.2 ROM. any other ICS ROM that has a better performance or battery life than this ?

You can try hephappy's rom or cyberics based off it. Check both and use what feels good to you.

Switching from O1 to HTC Desire.

I'm selling my LG Optimus One and I'm buying a second hand HTC Desire for the same price, I think I got a fair deal. My prime reason for doing this is because the sound quality on the Desire by far exceeds that of the O1.
I am wondering guys whether you have some tips to give me before switching phones. Please share your thoughts and opinions about this deal. I'm setting my phone clean right now.
Thank you very much for the support here, thanks to you guys, my experience with my O1 has been wonderful.

I know its more or less the same phone, but from where I am, the Nexus One is more expensive than the HTC Desire. I know the N1 has noise cancellation, but the sound quality though earphones on the Desire seems better.
i have the HTC Desire HD too and can say, its good for daily usage.
Only the display isnt soooo good because its not a amoled so some colors are some
strange, but heee - its a smartphone not a TV

Hey andy!
Im getting the Desire, not the Desire HD, that one's too expensive for me. :/
Concerning the phones mentioned previously, I had a look at the developer section for both here at XDA before opting for that, seems like there's quite some good stuff going on them.
You guys think I should sell my phone with stock ROM, or with CyanogenMod?

That's true, but I already agreed to the Desire. With the price difference between these two phones here, I can save myself quite some bucks buy myself a good pair of headphones.
I hope some cool developers will also port ICS to the Desire, or even the O1 in the future.
Hmm that's what I thought too, I'm setting up CM 6.5.8 right now.

I would recommend you to get other devices instead actually Firstly, the HTC Desire has the multitouch axis inversion problem too! And even though its much faster than our O1,its still quite 'old' now. But the roms for it are definitely alot! Overall,I would still suggest you to hey newer phones with faster processers
The desire has random reboot problems and overheats.but not all..search it in google there are many people complaining about it

The number of Developers are decreasing :'( Will Luphorhirp ever return?

Guys... the development of our phones is coming to an end... we have less and less developers everyday and I don't think I'm good enough to develop anything decent my self.... we need to find people to develop and fast if the future of our phones is to be a bright one....
I agree with you... but I think maybe is time to other people (including us), learn some more and keep doing a nice job. Not as great as some developers I guess, but someone has to do the work. I know, its hard, but what we can do if not is change our phones
Awesome devs, don't leave us hehe.

This is just my two cents worth:
Take a look at the Android Development section. There are many budding developers with their themed roms oh, I mean heavily tweaked and modded roms out there. I'm not sure about the rest of you but I feel that this is simply wonderful. Its a good opportunity for beginners to learn more and serve the online community here. I'm sure in 5/10 years time down the road, some of us will look back and say "Hey the Optimus One was the Android phone that got me so interested into developing and look at much I've learned" or "It was my Optimus One phone that made me love Android".
So alright, our phone isn't considered a legacy device (yet, of course hopefully never) so hang on in there I love my O1!
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Well...I think the developers are enough to build an stable version of ics.For GB,we already have Oxygen which is amazing..or neko's rom if you like some changed graphics. If we'll have stable ICS...I don't think we can request something else from them.Even like this,I'm happy with Oxygen.
The thing is that o1 gets older and older, and resources are very limited.600 mhz...just saying.
The developers will upgrade to better phones.
This phone...I think it was it the top when it comes to developrs support. It was a cheap phone with good performances at that time. Now games, versions of android, apps, all request more resources and in time this phone won't be able to offer enough.
Probably this phone was a challenge for most of developers. We wouldn't have so many roms if this would have...a 1.4 ghz / dual core processor and this stuff.
Don't worry my friends,in time we'll upgrade our phones too.And for most of us,this phone was "first love" ...and you know what they say,you will never forget your "first love"

you realize that this phone is 2 years old and most developers have switched to nexus devices.
you realize this will never have an official update ever again
you realize this has an armv6 processor
you realize that we have reached a "glass ceiling" for now maybe quallcomm will be nice or someone comes up with a workaround or we can get a leak
you realize that this phone has no official flash support
you realize that we have an HVGA display
thats why so many devs are leaving and or moving to another phone IE. Nexus
so many devs went to the nexus, franco, milk, bok, dax\
im new here

I'd really like to change my Optimus One for a better phone but I really can't spend lot of money for a phone. Android 4 is beautiful but set a LOT of devices apart. Now Android looks like something for the few. I still have to understand what should I do with a dual/quad core phone: my Optimus One is old, armv6, 600mhz but I can still use it with Lightbox, Twitter, FB, G+, gstrings, Maps, Endomondo and a lot of apps with no much lags (and I didn't overlock). I hope Tizen or especially Boot 2 Gecko will be good enough to revive not-so-incredibly-old phones like ours. Android is fantastic but it's going too fast.

Just saying hi

I just wanted to say hi. I switched to at&t last night n ordered an optimus g. I'm just waiting for it to come in the mail. I'm excited to be part of these forums now.
Now a little back story. My first android device was the HTC Evo for sprint. I got the phone on launch day. I rooted the device n ran cyangenmod6. A couple month later the Samsung Epic was launched. The epic is where I started to develop for a phone. I started off making some themes ( emotionless beast ) n worked my to ROM development. When I left the epic I had the best ROM available at the time. Syndicate Frozen 1.2.
I had to leave sprint n switched to metro PCs. The phone I had was the Samsung Admire. With the admire I helped with getting Odin n cwm working on the device. I then had the very first ROM available. ( no one else was working on the device at the time ). Admiral beast.
Metro PCs was short lived n I switched to T-Mobile. With T-Mobile I had the Lg MyTouch 4G ( lg-e739 ) and its still my current device until my optimus g comes in. With the e739 I helped the cyangen team with cm9 and created my own ROM n kernel ( first time ever making a kernel ). The ROM was cm9 based n I started off calling ICSyndicate. In the last update the name was changed to MyEzOs. After the release of MyEzOs I then helped with CM10 witch we just got working last week.
Sorry for the long post but wanted to let you guys know how I am n what I do. I look forward to unlocking the full potential of this device with out doing the dirty hack to convert it to the n4.

The conversion works fine. More stuff works with the conversion than current aosp/aokp releases. Its not that bad. It may have some long term effect but I haven't seen it and neither have other people who converted. The jellybean camera problem was fixed for those who converted back. I have converted back and forth several times. While converted I had almost everything working besides lte. After converting back I have been able to run all lgog ROMs successfully.

Hi everyone !!! soon i'm going to buy an Optimus G and i read in the forums that since is the same hardware (virtually) as the nexus 4, it can be converted into a nexus 4, i've been reading quite a while about the subject and learning how things work on the Optimus G, but i can't find any users opinion about it and i can't find any videos of the conversion working so i created this thread so anyone who wants to share his expierence about the conversion or anyone who wants to share videos or photos of the conversion working it can be posted here

The 4.1 update gave the tz and rpm that was needed.

so are you saying that the rom's like PA3.15 in the android development section work on the optimus g as they would work on a nexus 4, but still why don't turn the optimus g into a nexus 4 completely and install all the nexus 4 goodies ?

We are referring to all the 4.2 ROMs in the optimus g android dev section like root box, chaos, aokp, liquid smooth and cm10.1 in original dev section.
Why deal with all the problems that converting can bring if you decide to swotch back to stock partitons?

As everyone has said, during the last several weeks there's been an explosion of new ROMs. No need for n4 conversion!
it seems that i chose the right moment to buy an optimus g, so with this new modified kernels for the cellphone it would be one of the best devices to run an AOSP rom, thanks for the info
soo i bough the phone and the first thing i said when i held it was :HOLYY SH*T is gorgeous and its freaakin fast, now im going to install PA3.15 i will tell my experience with the rom later
I love it. Stock 4.2.2, rooted and deodexed with .33 modem. Everything I need works no problem.

so i was tempted to convert and i did it lol
so i converted my lgog into a nexus 4 and this device its amazing i did all the fixes and the device is running well, great battery life, amazing speed and a pretty cool Google bootloader splash lol, i made a video just for showing you guys my phone in it's actual state

How'd you come to the decision to convert and go to a n4 ROM? To each his own, but there's some pretty good Roms in the android Dev section and who knows what else to come.
And lolol what is with the random flexing..

i like the feeling that im using a 100% stock AOSP ROM and if the device is almost like 98% identical as the Nexus 4 why not do it, its a shame that the developers do not support the conversion no more, and with the flexing lol i was bored lol
It's not supported because the long-run effects aren't known, and there's nothing wrong with the AOSP/AOKP/CM/PA ROMs we have. But good luck with it!
I ditched 33 modem. Now using 24 & 27 interchangeably. They are holding Att reception much better. No issues thus far.

How are your antutu benchmarks ?
Homeboy is brave for converting^
And you say you have no issues? *bravo*

I enjoyed the conversion for a couple of weeks until it started getting screwy for me. Overheating, GPS stopped working, constant signal drop and bootlooped daily. Loving RootBox, though. All the advantages of AOKP, PA and CM in one.

I was tempted to convert for the longest time. Finally got the nerve the day we got AOSP, so no need in my book. I used rootbox for a while, but it started acting screwy on me recently. Switched to liquid smooth tonight and seems even better.
Turns out, I didn't need the AOKP/PA bloat, and this kernel feels even better than Houcha's did
Pecked by the AOKP/CM/PA alicorn

Roms

How come we only have a few ROM's and they galaxy 3 has tons? When can we at least get an official cyanogen?
Uhhh you cant really compare s3 and OG in terms of developments and number of roms.
Obviously s3 has a lot more users than OG.
You shouldnt expect similar amount of developments to be on all devices although we have got some real talented devs.
Have you been seeing ATT OG community for a while?
If you did you must know that for past month there were some bombardment of new developments.
You should be able to see official cm too soon (i hope so too). But cm from nexus 4 ports are very stable and nice too try using then first!

Why don't you build it?

OP have you looked and attempted to install/run the current ROMs available....and since jelly bean was just introduce to this device not more that 2 months ago....
I would say this community is off to a great start, BTW this thread is really not needed.
Thank You.
