Love this community! with that said I have a question about alerts and sounds.
I use the standard email app for work, and have a sound assigned to it. What about my other apps, like gmail, tapatalk, text message. am i doomed for them to all share the same sound or is there a way to assign a certain tone/sound to each of the above mentioned items?
Thanks

I believe you can change the notifications for most apps. Just open app and goto setting. I have a different notification for gmail, exchange, and measages.

Hi,
I just switched from iOS to Android. I was wondering if I could make the email notification more efficient, like the one for iOS for example:
The notification would show 3 different emails in separate list
Email from: Jelly, "Subject"
Anna, "Subject"
Luke, "Subject"
rather than telling me that you have "3 emails"
Thanks.
The only Advice i can give you is play around with the email setting to see if that helps.
no apps for that ? What a shame =(
Perhaps email notifier?? Type email notification in store there's a few.

Have a problem with getting notifications on sprint HTC one. I recently bought the HTC one after owning the iPhone 5 and miss how notifications were handled on iOS. I always got my notifications on my iPhone and loved how all app notifications were handled in one section in settings apps. I feel like notification settings are all over the place since I have to go into each app and edit notifications settings individually. My problem is that I rarely receive notifications for apps such as Facebook and instagram unless I open the app and refresh then I receive notifications in app. Is there anyway to fix these issues because I have auto sync on and background data enabled also.

Well there are some apps on Google Play that makes notifications organized but they are somewhat different from the iPhone Notifications. You can try apps like iPhone Notifications or Notifier Pro.Both have free versions but you can buy a paid one for couple of better features.Hope this is what you r looking for

Try Clearing Recent Apps for the problem of notifications for Facebook and Instagram not appearing, or Do you have to much apps installed?
First off, lover my Gear S. Just awesome. There is one aching functionality missing for me though: is there any way to delete an email using the native app on the Gear and have it delete that email on the phone? I'm going with a workaround right now using Gear Notification Extender and that helps a lot, but I'd like to have a manageable inbox without scrolling though the messages as notifications, per se. Has anyone got this working using the native Gear email? Thanks in advance for the help.
+1 ..... delete notification implies double work to clear even the message, Android wear has both the "mark as read" and "delete" option
Hello everyone! I'm new here
I had a question before purchasing the Gear S... I have a Galaxy S5 and I use Textra for my SMS app and I love it. I was wondering if the Texting feature on the Gear S can go though Textra or will it make me use the Default SMS app that same with my S5?
If it does require me to use the default app. Can I install Fleksy Messenger like I did on my old Gear 2 to replace the default SMS app on the Gear S?
Thanks
Did you figure out these questions? I'm thinking about buying it but would prefer to use Google Messenger instead of the factory SMS app on the phone I'm also thinking about buying (Note 5 AT&T).
Kinda.....
I ended up buying it and when I go to the messaging app on the watch it says I have to change back to the default SMS app on my phone. HOWEVER when I look up a contact and the hit the messaging icon for whatever contact I wanna text it works just fine with a 3rd party SMS app. Let me know how you like the Gear S!!
When you say looking up a contact to text, you're doing that on the watch & not the phone? Still debating on getting it. Love the gorgeous & huge curved screen but not fond of Tizen OS whatsoever besides being able to make/receive calls.
Yup
Yeah on the watch. This version of TIZEN is way better compared to the one on the Gear 2. I love the screen and the standalone capabilities. The apps are ok but could be improved..
I've never used previous versions of Tizen. Just the current version on the Gear S at retailers. Don't really care/need other apps. Just want notifications (in addition to the gorgeous & huge curved screen) for calls, texts, emails, voicemails & calling feature. Opera browser is a nice bonus.
Just go into your gear settings app (on your phone). Go to notifications and select whatever third party app you want (includes sms). I use Textra for my SMS. I get all messages on my Gear S (except for MMS...just alerts me I have an MMS, doesn't physically show it like using the stock app). You can respond using the built in Samsung keyboard.

Assumption: I assume that these phones will not allow customized text tones per phone number in contacts list like anything after Samsung s6/s7?
Such a shame that Samsung pulled what I think is a no brainer important feature.
There are apps to get around this but you have to keep at least one text message from every contact to assign a text tone to that contact.
I did find an old version of Contacts+ .apk that I side-loaded that works on my S8 and had to extract it and re-sign it so a newer version of that app would not come back down on updates. At one point Contacts Plus broke their own feature.
But you have to use this app as the messaging app in stead of anything else.
Thanks
Peter
I use Textra for this feature. Works great, and can customize vibration patterns as well.

I use to use Textra, loved it if only for the signature line. Left it for google messaging and RCS. Did Textra ever integrate it? Don't see it on any change logs or product description.
