Hi
my phone is also with Unknown baseband and it wont connect to the mobile network. It is not a problem of the sim as the same works on other phones. I tried to restore the original firmware/do a software update but i cannot connect to Kies and over Wifi the upgrade is failing with a generic error of Processing failing.
This has happened after I rooted the phone with Odin.
I know that restoring the baseband could fix it but how do I go about it? Could you point me to the right instructions on how to get it back to life? For instance where do you get the basebands and then how do you flash the phone ?
Read the stickied modem threads .
But i suggest you flash the stock firmware through Odin .
Its all in the stickied basics .

If you got an unknown baseband usually a re-flash of the original firmware solves it, you can download them on know websites as for instance sammobile.com. How to flash a ROM or baseband/modem please have a look in the FAQ thread and stickies. You can find a collection of modems in the General section's baseband/modem thread.
Restoring official firmware didnot work

For my I9305 i tried to flash the original firmware I9305XXBMF1_I9305EVRBMF1_EVR (The UK version for EE) but still the baseband is unknown and the phone is unable to connect to the network. It looks like i need to actually install a Baseband rather than flashing with the firmware (still not 100% sure on the difference and which on excludes the other for what)
I am reading the FAQ but i might want to wait for this before using Odin again.
Has anyone got a recommendation for a baseband for Samsung S3 LTD - I9305 ?

I previously upgraded my phone's firmware to 2.3.6, seeing that Bell Canada's stock firmware for the SGS2 is 2.3.3, and has never received an update since release. 2.3.6 is much better in many ways, however the problem I encountered was random network (3g/4g) disconnection, while always being able to make and receive calls and texts. Curious to know if there is a work around to this problem? If I were to take an educated guess, could the modem file of the rom be the cause of this problem? Seeing that my SGS2 is a i9100M model, and the firmware "changes" the phone's model to i9100. Furthermore causing the network to not recognize the phone's modem?
I really would like to be able to avoid this issue because I downgraded back to stock branded courrier firmware. 2.3.3 is hard on battery usage and touch response is much worse than 2.3.6.

You didn't have to downgrade. You just needed to find modems that are more compatible with your network. Modem thread here. (easily found with a google search for "xda modems galaxy s2"... it was the fourth or fifth result)

Yeah, I already looked at that thread, including the thread dedicated to Bell/virgin courier. So I guess you missed the point of my question. I did ask what I could do to work around the problem, afterwards taking an educated guess that the modem was the issue. Maybe this forum deals with a lot of people that don't use search, but lets not put everybody on the same boat. Thanx

No offense intended, but the wording of your question didn't lead me to believe you looked at that thread, and that you were just speculating at this point that it was an issue with your modem. Sorry.
But in answer to what you could do to work around the problem, if the modem currently flashed to your phone is not ideal to your network operator, there really is no work around other than to flash a modem that is better suited.
No worries, no offense taken, was just justifying myself. So, if I understand correctly, it is the possible to flash the rom without flashing the modem? I'm just thinking logically here, but I have flashed back to stock rom, hence my network issue was resolved. I downloaded the latest 2.3.6 firmware available, so instead of flashing the modem I can leave it blank?

Hm... I honestly don't know. Where'd you download the "latest 2.3.6 firmware available"? From Intratech's official firmware thread?
If so, those packages contain everything in the zip, including the modem. I think what you can do is open up the package, and remove "modem.bin", and zip it back up. That may leave the modem you currently have... But I don't know for sure, I've never tried it.
I have read some related threads for " Your Device does not support software updating via kies"
I am getting this issue.
I recently got a branded phone from orange after having a unbranded phones4u (the unbranded one was smashed and Orange replaced it with orange care) my concern was they the branded phone would be full of bloatware etc etc, so i came to XDA earlier in the week and I got some advice about Odin & flashing the attached stock ROM (I9300XXBLG_i9300XABLG8_I9300xxLH1_home.tar.md5) this seemed to go through very smoothly after following the XDA guide.
the S3 is now showing up as I9300XXLH1 which was the same as my Unbranded phone , however now Kies is being a bit of a bell-end and bring up the following message on the connection screen "Your Device does not support software updating via kies". after reading some related threads it would seem that the general consensus is that Kies is in fact a bit of a liability and its best to update via Odin.
This I don't mind doing, but as a bit of Noob , I'm a little confused over where to get a guide on which firmware in the UK will work. I'm not wanting to go for any the custom ROMs (Yet, I want to get used to flashing stock ROM's first) is there a website which gives you update on new stock firmware (for I9300 & I9100)that can be flashed (ie taking the place of Kies , so to speak.
Also I noticed that the Kies Back-up program doesn't work , it doesn't seem to work with any phone, I've tried reinstalling etc etc but it still doesn't work, I've tried Mobile Go which is okay but doesn't seem to backup user settings etc etc. I've heard of titanium but I don't want to Root at the moment is there any alternative?
has anyone got a link for relevant Stock firmware for Jellybean for I9300 UK & I9100
Thanks in advance

Why would they JB has not been released for the UK .
JB is Poland only as per thread in General section.
You have changed the firmware and phone now presents wrong codes to KIES .

Thanks
Thanks for the quick response,
I had assumed that changing the firmware would perhaps invalidate the connection to kies updates , my question was for someone in the know to point me in the right direction for ROM catalogue (of sorts) as being new to to this I'm apprehensive about putting the incorrect firmware on to the phone/s.
JB issue - noted.
Thanks

CHECKFUS is best download and flash via Odin genuine Samsung server firmware .
Or XDA General thread stock roms.
Or Sammobile.com

Hi all, I need some information/help regarding the method to unroot my phone. i have checked a bunch of sites online and i know what the general idea is, but i can't seem to find the original firmware for my phone.
i am currently using an i9300 that I purchased unlocked from Amsterdam last summer. i have rooted it and have been using it on cm9 stable for the international s3 and now want to go back to stock firmware for warranty reasons.
i have been through the list of firmwares on samsung-updates.com but I am not sure which firmware i should install for my specific phone. there are a few netherlands links that i saw but were for tmobile...
furthermore, using *#1234# on my phone doesnt do anythign at all. the baseband version is i9300CELH1 when i go into about phone.
please help me figure out where I can find the original firmware for my phone that will keep it in its original warranty.
Thanks and I apologize in advance if I come off as a noob!

my phone was unlocked, got it for 600 euros so it wasnt locked to any carrier as far as I know.
sam mobile shows tmobile and vodafone, and a third one that doesnt mention any carrier. should i just go ahead with that? either way, is there a chance of my phone being bricked?

There is always a 'Chance' of being bricked but to be honest if you follow the Instructions it should be all ok, I have flashed via ODIN quite a lot and never had any issues Id say go for whichever ROM version you want e.g. is 4.1.2, I know new version is out on Vodafone so id say give that one a try just make sure to select the correct model number
Hi guys. I need some helps. I'm from Malaysia and the android that i used before is android 4.1.2 I9300XXEMF6 (original firmware). Then ive upgraded it into android 4.3 (I9300XXUGMJ9) for UK region. Even though it is an official samsung firmware, i found out it is unstable. I flash it back to android 4.1.2 (Malaysia original firmware) but something happen. The "network have not registered" problem. I then found the solution by rooting it and install the modem. But it act funnily as the android seems unstable from before. I flash it over and over again hoping that reverting back to 4.1.2 will be the same as before but i ended up using 4.2 as the 4.1.2 have network problem. I already search the forum and find many solutions but none provide the files that i need. I also have tried KIES method by recovery and initializing method but it resulted the same. "Network has not registered. The only solution is to root it and i would really like to NOT to root my phone.
My question is, can someone provide me with necessary files such as the pit files, phone (modem) and the CSC files that specifically for Malaysia regions? I already have the firmware file. Please guys. The instability of 4.3 is driving me crazy.
BTW im using i9300.
Stop.
You are going to brick your phone if you flash things without understanding them.
Go to general forum and read the sticky post, especially efs 'know this stuff'.
Flashing a pit file WILL brick your phone.
When you flashed 4.3 you upgraded to efs v2, there is no way back. You can only use EMGx and later modems now, find a later modem that will work in your country, either with 4.1 or 4.3.
Edit. Backup your efs, perform a factory reset, flash your 4.1 country rom then an EMG modem.
hey man, thanks. One question, where can i find this emg modem?

What you`ll need is a new version of 4.1.2 with a mg4 baseband or latest, the 4.3 rom changed your efs folder format. If you want to stick with your 4.1.2 go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43946365&postcount=15 and flash that emergency.zip (mg4 baseband), it should do the job.
Hi guys. Already solved the network problem by installing the Modem DDEMG2 files via odin. Thanks for your guys helps and advice. For some that thinks that i haven't read many posts, i have read them but cannot grasp the concept. Sorry for the inconvenience. Many thanks.

Hey guys, I was recently on a custom Rom, which i liked but had so many bugs
I heard good things about the newest 4.3 update, the ones with all the bug fixes so im trying to go back to it
I flashed a really old 4.0.4 version, which for some reason was in dutch? and it had taken away my Imei and luss i couldnt change the CSC within the menu
Ive tried countless other firmwares and ran into nothing but trouble, I tried the leaked 4.3 firmware which was a Irish vodafone version and i couldnt do anything with that
Sam mobile is pretty much useless with the new host, can someone please give me a link which has the right firmware ( Unlock Galaxy S3 gti9300 ) normally i flash BTU. So yeah, The right firmware, where I can update to the latest 4.3, quick download speed and a firmware which has everything included ( I.E IMEI, Signal Etc )
Many thanks, Jack
You'll need to understand the basics if you are going to repair what you've already done to your phone.
Flashing yet another rom won't fix it, if the 4.3 firmware didn't.
You can't repair the imei, unless you have a backup of the efs folder. Instead you'll need a repair centre.
Start with reading the sticky threads in general forum, in particular efs 'know this stuff'.
