Hello, I am a little new and confused with all those "roms", "kernels", but currently, I don't really care. Is there a way to increase max music volume (headphones) on my rooted galaxy s2 (jelly bean)? I know there were topics like this but most of them are outdated, so it's really hard to find it now..
Syiah and dorimanx kernels have options in stweaks for increasing volume
Send from my SGS2 I9100 with HassanROM and latest DorimanX 8.xx kernel

So, just in case i don't destroy my phone: I should just download newest Dorimanx version (zip) and install it in CWM recovery mode? I have rooted my phone using this tutorial: galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100-jelly-bean-android-4-1-14-1-2/ (add http before link)
Thanks

Not simply the newest kernel, but download the newest supported kernel for ur rom. Read the Dorimanx thread carefully before choosing a kernel.

VOODOO louder from Google Play built specifically for Galaxy s2, s3 etc actually acts as a driver or software tweak to the yamaha sound chip found in our phones and increases volume, worked for me but I suggest u do the included free compatibility test to make sure before buying it

Voodoo Louder is obsolete with the kernel-side volume increase available on Siyah/Siyah source kernels.

Hello,
After flashing SiyahKernel S2-v4.1.5 on stock ICS 4.0.4, there is no STweaks app in applications on my s2. I know it should be installed automatically after flashing Syiah, but it's not. What should I do to fix it?

STweaks is for Siyah kernel for Galaxy S3 only.
Download Extweaks which is for Siyah for Galaxy S2
What a pity, I hoped for STweaks audio options... Thank you for clarification.

Some Audio minimal headset sound options are also found in Extweaks, but not as extensive as in STweaks.
This is due to limitation of Galaxy S2 audio chip and not with Extweaks. If you use Extweaks for Galaxy S3, all the audio options will also be there simply because, Galaxy S3 audio chip supports them.
Hi, I flashed Siyah kernel v4.1.5 today and my back cover gets warm up more than usual. What do I do? I am on stock 4.0.4 (SAMSUNG S2 GT-I9100)
I'm trying to find a guide on exactly how to use STweaks for S2 or some documentation. any one know where i can find it\them ?
According to play store info its for both the S2 & S3 and will work on others... I'm guessing when Jokesy posted i was only for the S3.
Peace
Hi all, I recently purchased SetCPU and tried a couple of profile settings and tuning my CPU Frequency. However whenever I tuned those frequencies, my phone will freeze and reboot.
Example of such case are 200min - 1200max I tune it to 200min - 800max and it freeze and reboot.
I rooted my phone and using stock rom and stock kernel. Already given SuperUser to SetCPU....
I hope any kind souls here will bring some light to my problem here. Thanks!

I read about it but prior to that, I flashed a custom Kernel just to gain root access. However after that, my phone was in the blank screen state after that. Even tried the clear cache setting. It didn't work, hence I was forced to flash back the stock Kernel and yet finding myself still retaining the root access...
If the blank screen didn't occur, I might try other kernel...

CF-Root is basically a stock kernel with root capabilities.
The kernels Sun90 recommended support OC/UC. so just flash any of them.
Good luck

Don't mind trying. Was initially intended to flash CM9 but I gotten lazy of flashing and customized my phone... If flashing those kernels that Sun90 recommended my phone won't went blank screen after that. I might try.
Updated: I took my courage to flash Siyah Kernel and now it works! Playing around with the settings to get better battery performances! Thanks!
Not sure if i'm doing something wrong, essentially when i try to dual boot with siyah kernel 5.0.1 i just get black screen, if i boot my stock ICS it's fine, i've tried a few ROM's (all JB) and they all just black screen when trying to boot, turning off and back on and going into primary is fine - am i missing anything obvious?

well if its the early JB 4.1 based rom u can Dual boot using siyah 5.0.1, if its newer than that (4.1.2>4.2.1>4.2.2) then siyah v5.0.1 will not support the same, and u will get black screen on boot

That may be the issue, Its CyanogenMod 10.1 i'm trying which i assume is based on 4.1.2 or earlier, out of curiosity is it just a dualboot scenario that is unsupported. I.E. if i flashed with CM10.1 just on its own with siyah 5.0.1 it would work?

Do remember that CM10.1 isn't fully supported by Siyah v6.0b5 for now and u might face issues.
Better to install CM10.1 and stay with the stock Cm10.1 kernel that comes with it to get better results

Apologies, Won't CM 10.1 just run on top of the siyah kernel? or by flashing to it will it replace the kernel with its own
I'm not ultimately loyal to a kernel, i just want to run jelly bean on my S2
Thanks

Kinda noob question but otherwise i never know.
Why would i change the kernel of my phone. I flashed supernexus 2.0 on my galaxy sII
but i dont know what happend with my kernel when i did that.
Is a kernel something u can choose over your rom?
Are all kernels compatible with any roms?
At last, how can i check my current kernel?
i think its the wrong section...
you must put your question in here ( Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting )
this is the dev section mate...
You need to learn the basics. I suggest you read this, and probably the rest of the threads here as well. Not knowing the basics can often lead to situations where tears are shed.

I suggest you read the above threads, since a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
As for ur questions,
When you flash a stock or custom ROM, your current kernel is replaced by the kernel in the new ROM.
A different kernel can be flashed over ur ROM too.
Not all kernels are compatible with all ROMs. Please read the kernel OP's thread regarding compatibility with ROMs.
You can check your current kernel by going to 'Settings - About Phone' and see 'Kernel Version'. There are also third party apps on the Playstore that let u do that.
Changing kernels is not necessary. Since a kernel is what controls most of the hardware, u need to change it only when u want to tweak ur hardware. People also flash kernels to root their phones and install a custom recovery.

Hi, I have given my wife my old white S2 after deciding to get a black one for myself (from Amazon UK). I had managed to root it and put on an aokp 4.2.2 rom (aokp_i9100_jb-mr1_build6 )which works great although I can't remember which site I used for the instructions. So I get my new black one and start thinking about doing the same...
I thought it would be a good idea to update it to latest stock version to start with but OTA update says my phone is up to date.
KIES finds new firmware but it hangs at 100% complete and goes nowhere.
Here are some numbers:-
Version 4.0.4
Baseband Version i900 BULP8
Build No. IMM76D.BULPG
This BULP8 version looks a bit odd.
I would appreciate some advice on how to proceed...is this a "funny" version?
Here's hoping, alfie

To Root you device, flash one of these Custom Kernels: CF-Root (the best) - PhilZ - SpeedMod
To install AOKP 4.2.2 ROM: Flash Omega v12 or Android Open Kang Project or JellyBAM
To install AOSP 4.2.2 ROM: Flash CyanogenMod 10.1
And don't forget to hit the thanks button
Also....while you're running 4.0.4, DO NOT wipe data, cache or dalvik....
Search "emmc brickbug" for why....
Sent from my Rooted, De bloated Stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and Tapatalk 2....
Yeah, you csn run gotbrick bug from playstore to check your chip. If it's sane you're good, if it's not I advice you to flash a safe kernel (siyah v5).
And then you'll be good to go for flashing CM and s#!t.
Also, stick to xda, not other sites.

May be its time for u to do some Reading in the first place ( since ur confused for now to choose a kernel properly to flash )
