[Q] Gingerbread 2.7 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi there when i purchased my phone i had a Gingerbread installed in it and it was all fine good once i inserted my data cable and pc companion said that it has a better android version of update called ICS..
anyway i had enough of ICS because of its bug...
i tried rolling my phone back to the Gingerbread but its not like the same one i had with me before i downloaded many types of ftf files and flashed but none of them were like the first firmware i had at the start when i purchased my phone...
is there anyone who can provide me better and good Gingerbread firmware which has no bugs at all?? like the one i had before when i purchased my phone??
the thing is when i flashed rolled back to Gingebread i downloaded ftf of Gingerbread through internet but they had bugs like cannot switch of vibration from dial pad could anyone help me on getting the proper ftf which is good and clean??
Help would be much more appreciated thank you

Orientation not working after Downgrade

I currently run my HTC on 3 uk and dowloaded my firmware so that I can upgrade it!!
However when I completed the downgrade my Orientation is no longer working when I turn the phone. tried to re-calibrate it etc but to no avail. Has anybody got any answers on this to help me out please?
Firmware is 1.5
Build number is 2.73.405.5
Regards Ray
Sorry I meant to ask is Firmware 1.5 the latest officially from HTC?
It may be a bug in that version, to be honest if you're going to flash a new rom you probably won't have to worry about this. Worst case you flash back to the original rom which came on your phone and send it back if it's still not working.
I would carry on putting a custom rom on your phone. It will probably fix it.
did you try to wipe the rotate settings ? It's in recent recovery roms under wipe menu ...
Yes, I did wipe it when I added the 1st ROM onto my new phone. I wiped it again this morning to try to recover it. Is there anywy I can restore it?
Just to let you know the orientation is now working again after downloading NeOroM 1.2 and its update. The version is excellent and works perfect like my daughters HTC Desire 2.1 officail firmware. I think its the best youre going to get near to it until HTC releasse the official version.
Thanks again for all your help guyz !!

[Q] Assistence with moving form old gen to new 2.1 xperia x10i

Hi guys,
I been waiting here in s.a for andriod update..... hmph useless basically, but i have been informed that if i flash my systems with the british generic it will work. thing being is, i got the very old gen build and everything.
heres my details.
Model :x10i
firmware: 1.6
baseband : 1.0.14
kernel: 2.6.29-rel semc-android (AT) semc #2
build: R1FA014
K here what i need, information on to how to get this system into the new 2.1 system, i seen steps there already for build r2 but nothing on my build so any assistence, also, what should i backup? numbers? apps? (dnt really care abt apps) its mainly my pics, movies and numbers but there on sd card accept my numbers.
This is such a noob thing i know, i been out of the firm bending deal for very long time so any assistence in getting this up and running would be AWESOME!
Oh yea not to bump or anything, as far as i can see my phone where i found all this details out doesnt seam to have any branding of any sort. so i guess even global generic verison would do, but please guys tell me what would be best based on the information given above.
P.s its R.S.A :\ had some one once saying im from south america when where no where near there
Debrand. Go Nordic. Done.
Oh, and also Search!
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
Download X10i_2_0_A_0_504_GLOBAL.
Run the flash tool.
In 3m:40s, your phone will be on v2.1*
*Backup all your data using Titanium Backup and/or SMS Backup & Restore first. Install SEUS, PC Companion and connect your phone in flash mode before using the flasher so that all the drivers install.

so will this work on build: R1FA014 as is, or do i need to upgrade something, my phone is non-rooted

It will update both your firmware, 1.6 - 2.1 and build R1FA014 to X10I Global.
Will work on yours.
Hey guys, thanks for the help! best part when i started to do this, getting the SUES to install the correct drivers, i tryed the Online update and sony updated my phone to what seams to be identical version above. so i believe my phone is generaly a global version, Thanks you guys for the support, this gave me a better understanding on how to root a device for future use.

[Q] Running slow after 2.3.3 kies update

Ok so I decided to wait for the official uk update to gingerbread through kies to see what it was like. However so far I think the phone was faster on 2.2.1, after the update it just feels really laggy. So what should I do to get the phone running smooth and quicker??
I have tried a couple of task killers but most seem to work for a second then the apps start running again. Should I consider flashing to a custom rom instead, or can I go back to 2.2.1 without flashing??
Either way so far I have found no real improvement in the official 2.3.3 update, if anything its worse.
Any advice would be great, thanks
Froyo better than gingerbread
got to agree with v28,since official update the lock screen takes ages to get to the unlock slide screen, cant send texts with 3g enabled, all screens seem slower than before & battery life seems worse.Has anybody seen an improvement since the upgrade, also does anybody know how to go back to froyo.or is the unofficial kpn/kph better....OR can the guys at cyanogen hurry up
In my opinion, Samsung Official 2.3.4 Gingerbread update is much better than its earlier (OLD) releases.

The unofficial kpn/kph is better
a little advice, any task killer is unnesessary on android. if stability/speed/improvement is what u want, task killer wouldnt do any good. infact it make things worse. dont treat linux like windows
Ok so as 2.3.4 is not an official update in the uk yet thats not an option. So if I do flash then what rom is best? Has the least bugs and isn't going to leave me with no wi-fi or camera?
Also what should you use to stop all these background memory munching things if not a task killer??
thanks
theres no such thing as "the best rom". its based on ur preference really.
as i said before, dont treat linux like windows
android has its own way of managing task/resource. using task killer would interfere with that behavior resulting in much problem. if u that worried about those background running process, use titanium backup to freeze them
Ok thanks i'll give it a try. Sorry for all the questions just new to all this and the phone's performance seems to have got worse with uk official update.
thanks again
Also does the phone have to be rooted to use titanium, if so how do I root 2.3.3? And if I'm rooting should I just flash it at the same time? Any recommended roms?
thanks

2.3.3 updateHi
Hi Im just curious as to what the official update for uk is i.e what number kpn kph ??,as i dont seem to be able to get an update,,when using kies on 2.2.1 i still get the no software update message meaning im on the latest,,although goin by your comments maybe im not missing anything special anyway,,also can anyone recomend which of the updates on samfirmware would be best for me in britain,,
thanks in advance
cheers Norrie
So far I would say stick with 2.2.1 untill they improve the current 2.3.3. My phone is saying PDA:KPN PHONE:KP6 CSC:KP1 (CPW) Baseband S5830XWKP6. I had a problem getting the update also, found I had to reinstall kies of samsung website under software for galaxy ace. I also had to change norton antivirus to full permission for samsung update.
Hope this helps, but all I have seen is change in battery icon at the top and the phone running much slower.
much slower is u just use stock, try custom rom. maybe u will be surprise
btw i also need to say this, kies is crap odin is far better in any way by miles
Decided to stick with stock rom in the end(as unsure which custom rom to choose) and hope for an update from samsung. Have factory reset the phone and just turning background data on and off as I need it. Also no longer using a task killer just samsungs own programme monitor. Still lags on unlock but deffinatly running better.
Not finding it quicker like some others are on about though

Iv already rooted my galaxy s2 using oden im on 2.3.3, my question is how do i upgrade to 2.3.4 and will i lose root if i do it via oden... do i need to reflash root again with the correct kernal for 2.3.4 or is it ok to use the unstable one when i rooted on 2.3.3... I hope im making sense thanks..
Hi update went well however iv now found out theres another version KI8 i think is it worth updating again as the link provided was KI4 thanks..
latest firmware is kJ3 currently out and there is a root file for it also.
if you are happy with KI4, they stay with it you do not need to update everytime a new update comes out.
Guys has anyone experinced any camera problems with this update, for some strange reason the auto focus has stopped working and checked in the camera settings too under focus its on auto..also tried clearing data under settings..

[Q] Xperia U: How do I get back to GB and STAY THERE?

Hello folks,
Here's what I'm trying to achieve. My two Us are Middle East devices with the SI numbers 1261-8745 (white) and 1261-8746 (black.) As some of you may well know, there was (and still isn't) no "official" ICS upgrade for Mideast-sold U's, so I had to flash ICS manually. I tried several versions of ICS, including Generic_World, but all I got was lag, lag and more lag! Sometimes the problem was so severe that the devices were almost unusable, what with having to reboot several times a day. I mean, heck, my old Xperia Rays, with their inferior hardware, perform much better with their "officially" obtained ICS upgrades - so much so that sometimes I find myself picking them up in the morning and leaving my U's at home!
So, I realized I was much better off with the stock GB that originally was on the devices. Now, I don't have the exact original FTF/kernel that came out of the box, but I'm figuring I should be fine with Generic_World or something similar. Problem is, each time I flash GB (2.3.7), it tells me that an update to ICS is available - which it never did when my phone was still on its original GB, not even through PC Companion. So, what I want is exactly this: to reflash GB and NOT to be notified of the ICS upgrade.
Now, I might have got this all wrong, but from what I've gathered so far, I figured that after flashing the GB rom, I can achieve this by editing the build.prop file and changing the SI numbers to the ones I mentioned above - which should prevent GB from notifying me of the ICS upgrade. Am I correct? Or am I missing something? Please let me know.
Best regards,
Shady
What you can do is that, root your Xperia with the GB f/w and then download an application that is capable of freezing system apps.. Freeze the 'update centre' app and it will not show any notification regarding the update..
Or download any root explorer and delete the same app!

Thanks, but what if I want to do it the hard way? Is there a way to get the phones back to the exact same stock GB that came on them out of the box (i.e. the one for the Middle East) without knowing what that exact version was? Is there a way to "modify" a Generic_World rom to turn it into that?
I also have two other brand new, unmolested U's that are still in lying in their boxes. Is there a way for me to "port" their stock roms into the older ones?
Shady
