I'm running stock rom and recently took the update to 4.1.1 (3.16.651.3 710RD) and the behavior of my headphone controls has changed. I have only DoubleTwist free installed. I have headphone control enabled via Home -> Settings -> Player Settings -> Use headset controls = on.
Single press mostly works fine to start/stop, but two clicks both advances to the next song *and* calls my most recently called contact.
In addition, sporadically, a single press will start the built-in Sprint Music player (in all apps, it's just called Music) instead of DoubleTwist.
I've hunted in vain for some sort of general phone headphone controls settings, or headphone related settings in the Sprint music player. I haven't found any. Is there a way to stop the competition/split usage of my headphone controls between the phone/Sprint music player?
Thanks for any tips/suggestions. Happy to provide additional information.

Alright, so this is a bit of a mystery to me. I'm rocking a Sprint Epic4G with the latest Gingerbread leak, although there's nothing that appears to be device-specific (maybe, that why I'm noting the device just in case ).
I have bluetooth enabled all the time and my phone is paired for both headset and multimedia with my car stereo. When I get in the car and hit the play button on the head unit, it randomly decides whether to launch Google Music or Music Player. I can deduce no pattern to which is capturing the AVRCP button press whatsoever.
I would prefer to always launch Music Player (lag is too high to make Google Music useful in the car) but I can't find any settings related to what goes one there.
Any thought folks?
I have a similar question for AVRCP on Google Music...
I'n on stock. Android 2.3.4 - Atrix (european model).
I've met the following (very strange) problem when using Endomondo.
[Endomondo is a sport tracker and has a coach assistant that tells you the time and distance. Furthermore, before starting the workout you can start the phone music player by pushing a button in Endo's main screen.]
The problem is this:
1) If I use the default music player (which is internally called Connected Music Player - CMP.apk), when the time comes for the annunciation (lap time) both music and the audio coach are muted.
I can see that, during the coach notification, the phone volume is automatically changed to zero. After the (inaudible) annunciation the volume comes back to normal.
But using alternative music players things change.
2) Poweramp (trial): I can hear the coach notification. The music is completely muted during the announcement. Music's volume resumes after that. The problem is that Poweramp is not recognized as an alternative music player and I can't set it as the music player started by the Endomondo app music button.
3) musiXmatch (free): It works as I think Endomondo devs intended a music player to work. The music is not completely muted during the announcement but its volume is reduced so that it stays in the background during the coach notification, that is so clearly audible. The music volume comes back to normal after the notification.
After installing it, launching Endomondo and pressing its music button I had a dialogue box asking which music player to use (the default one or the newly installed musiXmatch). I chose the latter one and checked the "always do that" option. So everything is fine with this music player.
It seems that the problem is on the way Endomondo access the phone volume and how it affects both the music player (in the cases 1 and 2) and the coach's voice.
My question: does anybody know if there is there some (hidden) android setting that can fix this issue?
I'll up! your post as I use the same pair of apps, i.e. endomondo (pro) + power amp (full) both latest versions, but came across one more issue in addition to yours, maybe someone could help
I'm on leedroid GB running on htc evo3d gsm and found out that audio trainer behaves in a strange way: the initial sequence "prepare to start, free your endorphins" is the same volume level as poweramp music, but during interval comments (every 1km) music from poweramp gets much louder, as if endomondo caused music app to play at that high level. Don't know which setting might cause this. Endomondo is rather obscure when it comes to audio options, while poweramp just overwhelmes me
I'd buy a beer if there was someone who might answer your problem as well as mine..
well, Id like to know whether endomondo recognizes songs played by poweramp?
I own a GSM Galaxy Nexus and I picked up the official car dock yesterday, and I've noticed that it doesn't have an elegant method for pausing currently playing media when a disconnect is detected, like how when you unplug a headset and supported media apps will pause (e.g. Pandora or Google Music).
EDIT: Originally I was using Tasker's built-in media button functionality for pausing music, but that actually was triggering a global play/pause toggle which would toggle all apps at the same time, resulting in unwanted resumed playback from Pandora and Google Music. I managed to resolve the issue by using the Locale Headphone Button Plugin instead. With it I can issue a non-toggle pause event that only pauses tracks that are currently playing. There is absolutely no need to simulate a headset event.
I'm trying this as well, but in my car. so basically my task profile is when i have Power (any) and Bluetooth running. I plug the phone in via usb to the headunit and it auto-connects bluetooth to the unit. What i'm trying to simulate is when i turn the car off (aka....bluetooth loses connection, and in theory so does power), that any music would become paused. The simplest way is to simulate unplugging headphones since most every major music app pauses when you do that.
I downloaded Locale Headphone Button Plugin and the "Play/Pause" options works just fine in testing using the tasker in-program-test-play feature.
The issue I run into is that if I cut off the car, bluetooth dies (as it should), but as long as my USB power cord remains plugged into the phone (i.e. i haven't yet removed my phone from the glove box), the Locale Headphone Button Plugin "Play/Pause" command seems to not execute.
any ideas?
So I've been looking for a fix for this issue for some time now, with little luck
Back in the younger versions of Android, Media and System volumes were separate, and music was considered media, while navigation turn by turn was under the system.
Since (I believe) Jellybean, Maps and media have merged.
When I plug my phone into my car's stereo using the headphone jack to stream music, If I want to turn up the music volume, when a navigation prompt comes on, the music drops behind (which is fine), but I have to leap to the volume knob to twist it all the way down.
Are there any fixes to this? Xposed Modules, workarounds, apps? I'd even be ok routing my GPS to my bluetooth headset while it leaves the music untouched, but preferrably I'd just like to be able to find a solution that lets me alter the volume of the GPS, to independently reduce it.
This persists over all my devices, ROMs, etc.
Thanks in advance
I upgraded my phone to the stock Android Lollipop build using Samsung Kies. I previously had my phone rooted. Everything works great with my phone under the new OS, except for something that I use very frequently - playing my music from my phone in my car over bluetooth. This is a feature I use daily, and now it has been crippled.
When I play music on my phone, connected to my aftermarket car stereo via bluetooth, the song information no longer shows up on my car stereo. Also, when trying to use my controls (face of the head unit, or the steering wheel controls), it does nothing (skipping tracks, etc.).
I am using the stock music player. Any help would be great, or even knowing that this problem exists outside of my phone would also make me feel better.
Having similar issues.
Audio controls work, but track data isn't working. Only samsung/google player are working properly with metadata.
Spotify, Pandora, and Soundcloud are not transfering audio track names at all.
Same here, I have a Kenwood DDX-418 and I can change tracks with the on screen buttons but do not get display. Maybe pull old kit Kat stock player and push to lollipop
