Does it show up in the device manager? If that's the error did you look? I didnt use the juopunutbear method to s-off but that's got to be where I'd start.

Umm adb= Android Debug Bridge it's a way of using a windows or Linux command prompt to send commands to your phone. I'm not really the best for step by step instructions on setting it up but search around a little and I'm sure you can find a guide. Once you have adb working its just copy and paste commands. Besides it'll be good for you to learn a little about it. It can come in handy if your in a jam.
Edit: was just thinking about this more.... Didn't you have to unlock bootloader with HTC Dev? You should have adb setup already. It's just running the right commands.

Sorry I can't provide a link (on mobile) but head over to the dev section and you'll see a sticky called Downgrade Hboot. Doesn't matter if you have root or not and its fairly simple.

I think using UnkownForces method of live cd is the best way to get s-off. Downgrade 1.5 to 1.4 n root with revolutionary. Takes 10-15mins and your only pressing a button and reading n following the steps after you brick your phone (on purpose).

Unknownforces method involves linux. It's closeones thread with the live cd you are talking about. It is super noob friendly also. The hardest part is the actual bricking of your device

The short answer is: yes you can, BUT you have to relock your phone first with "adb oem lock". Basically, you undo the work you just did. It's one of the steps in: Downgrade HBOOT thread "(If you are HTC Unlocked, you MUST RELOCK BEFORE starting) " and HBOOT Downgrade Toolkit. The latter has more detailed instructions. Basically when you relock your phone you have to run the RUU to wipe the device and return it to a stock ROM as part of the first steps. Enjoy.

Nice write up. Question, when you get s-off from unlimited.io do you still have an official hboot or is it a modified unlimited.io hboot?
unlimited.io hboot
but this is the first time i write a thread so hope hope no one has any problems
The reason I wondered if it was a modified hboot is because if you use the writesecreflag command to s-on with an "unofficial" hboot, it will brick the device. The safest thing to do in my opinion is to flash an official hboot after getting s-off just incase you don't remember this when you want s-on.
D_ Back to S-ON
1_Go to fastboot
2_Type fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
3_fastboot reboot-bootloader
^DONT
unless you wanna brick ur device..
its like this.. the hboot is still revolutionary, not stock.. if u use SON on it, the device will brick, and since you have soff, theres no way of reviving the device except for jtagging.
SON trick only works on stock bootloader.

Nice post.
Maybe in the B section could be info about using ADB and fastboot+the files.
And also exist another recovery then CWM (4-EXT touch...)
And also in B section should be in step 14 "same methods from 10->14" not from the 1. step
Also what I read, with the unlimited method the bootloader will be locked back after S-OFF

thanks for helping but in htcdev they explain how to use them and who will care about locked when someone has s-off?
and he/she can get it back if he goes to htcdev.com and do the same methods( correct when he click yes the phone will freeze when you unlock using the token but take out the battery and put it back you will notice it's unlocked)

Hello everybody,
I have a problem,
I have followed D_hboot 1.53.007 s-off only if I type: adb push jb_boot.img /data/local/tmp/ then it says this:

If I type it without the last forward slash (adb push jb_boot.img /data/local/tmp) then it says:
C:\Android>adb push jb_boot.img /data/local/tmp
3171 KB/s <5916672 bytes in 1.822s>
and if I run controlbear.exe after it, then it says

There are no commands to type to get s-off, Read before you post, there are pleanty of threads for this already, and, the methods to get s-off do work, I've done the wire trick 7 times now successfully on many evo 3d's.

The wire trick does work. Took me a few tries to get the timing right the first time, but it does work. Getting s-off is worth the trouble of trying at least a few times.

I have a guide here for rooting and gaining S-OFF. If you are rooted and still on the stock ROM you can skip to Step3, otherwise I recommend starting with Step1 and flashing the RUU.
If you only have Linux available there is a link to a post that contains more info for that after Step3.

Hey folks I was able to re-lock my HTC Evo 4G LTE, and now am trying to unroot it by running the RUU_JEWEL_CL_JB_45_S_Sprint_WWE_3.15.651.16_Radio_1.12.11.1119_NV_2.87_003_25007_release_299302_signed RUU.
Unfortunately, after letting it do its thing for awhile, I get a Error [140] Bootloader Version Error.
So installation does not complete and I obviously still have *tampered* on my bootloader.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Just found this thread with someone that has the same issue as me?

Am I stuck until the 3.16 RUU comes out?
Are you S-on or S-off?
There is no 3.16 RUU, and may never be, for that matter.
If you're S-off you can use the tool in the link below.

You might need to get s-off to use vipeRuu I know it doesn't make sense but that's the only way to do it since there is no 3.16 RUU, or use the method from dirty racun, which will downgrade your phone to a custom hboot to do the s-off process and your phone will still showing tampered-relocked message... but will be completeley back to stock unrooted...

BTW, I went to the VipeRUU and it looks like only Linux is supported. I use Win 7 x64
No, Actually vipeRuu is for Windows only, Viperboy never had a chance to make the script work for Linux, not that I know off, so you can use it, I was a tester and I'm pretty sure it's for windows only,,,
Sorry, I wasn't clear in my message. To use VipeRUU you need S-off. In order to obtain S-off I need to use DirtyRacun which is Linux only.
I've read somewhere that some people has been successful using dirty racun on a Windows machine but you won't get any support from the devs at unlimited.io just take the 'sudo' . /' and use fastboot commands in cmd from your dirty racun folder... Good Luck!

all explained from the title, recently, my htc sensation screen became dimmed and i having a hard time using it, then i got my mother's evo 3d as a replacement
i want an advice in s-off and downgrading my hboot from 1.53.0007 to 1.49xx , so that i could install and try kitkat and many other rom :good:
1. currently i am already un-locked and rooted my evo 3d
2. if i want to downgrade my hboot, should i s-off my phone first ? wire trick by junoputbear right ? or is there any other way to s-off my 1.53.0007 other than wire tricking it ?
3. in wire trick method, im having a hard time deciding the right tools for doing this, i have a win 7 installed os laptop and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507616 that rom installed in my evo, it is said that i have to be on stock rom, could i just do this on that rom or should i flash other rom ? if its not possible, could anyone show me the right rom ?
4. if and if only i've done all that s-off stuff and so, could i use this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172 to downgrade my hboot ?
and after that it will be a yadda yadda yadda piece of cakey for me to flashing rom right ?
i'm sorry for my bad languages, trying my best here >.<
The wire trick is what you need to do. On the juopunut Homepage there is a link to a Linux live CD. With this you wont have trouble with drivers, just follow the instructions on their page. Aftwards downgrading hboot will be easy.
Two beer or not two beer, that's the question
i dont really get it, should i change my rom first or not ? in junopoutbear its recommended to 'verify - You are on Stock RUU (not FreshROM, Stock Rooted, HarmonyROM - none of these will work!)'
I had a same situation with you. So RUU is the package to install a stock rom through a pc. Here you can find RUUs. According on your bootloader you own gsm evo and you must download a Shooter_U ics for your area provided on the link. In order to run the ruu you must relock the device in fastboot with "fastboot oem lock" command. After the ruu finishes you can unlock the bootloader again and do the unlimited.io procedure. If your evo is vodafone branded (like mine) your cid blocks the ruu and you cant flash, for this situation I suggest you to flash Yoda ICS and do the unlimited.io procedure, I did it with Yoda.

Just follow the instructions on juopunutbear page.
You may need several attempts to get the right timing.
