Do you guys think that the SGS4 Google Edition ROM could work on our SGS3? Or at least include some new sources and stuff that could improve AOSP ROMS on our device like CM10.1?

I hope so, I'm dying to get stock android on my S3 with proper 'official support' and without all those S-Crap "features". *Cross Fingers"
On the other hand, I really doubt it; with the stock version of the S4 selling about $650+ ... (That, before some XDA-Magic applied to that ROM )
Highly unlikely. The Google edition S4 is qualcomm and our S3's are exynos..

A few reasons:
-Great specs
-Cheap
-I can completely wipe it out and throw something awesome as CM (Or any custom flavour, for that matter)

what about sgs2 f1 nexus? you have used that rom ... Or CM9?? how these roms work??
They work just fine, with few bugs like TV out issues and stuff.
Battery life is little less than stock, though I get 12 hours mostly.
So its up to you. Cm9 will get there eventually, but remember Cm9 is not rc'ed yet.
of cause original is better than custom.. since custom are still living with bug =)

Basically,if you want a more powerful phone, its obviously the samsung galaxy sII..but,then again ,pure AOSP experience will be found only on Google Nexus..I am using a GSII with Slim AOSP ..& trust me,its as smooth and as battery friendly it can get..Yeah, Custom Roms do.come.with bugs and stuff, but they are eventually fixed..some stay on..but its kind of irrelavent to me...and thats my opinion. So,choose wisel

gnexus doesnt have a very good gpu
you will soon be left behind in 3d games
i am sure team hacksung will continue giving us aosp on gs2
I'm using f1 galaxy nexus. I like it.

Hi guys!
I'm a newbie developer who has just started with kitchen and some porting guides. I got an idea but i don't know will it work or not.
My idea is to port note2's rom to galaxy s2 (or any other device - s2 is my device) to get multi-tasking feature.
Is it possible to do it with porting guides in xda or do i need some extra info for that?

So you want to port the note 2 stock ROM to the sgs2...not gonnna be easy as the hardware is COMPLETELY different... not impossible...but you'll need major coding experience, time, and patience...
It will probably require kernel edits, framework and other system file edits...let's see if someone else more knowledgeable has anything to say...I don't have much experience with porting stock ROMs...only aosp

Porting note2 rom will be difficult. But I can provide you the frameworks that has multiwindow...1.multiwindow.jar 2.flashbarservice.apk 3.android.policy.jar (You need multiwindow folder actually from android.policy.jar...)But wont it be added by sammy in jb release???Note1 is rumoured to have it

So, as i understand the problem will be hardware compatibility. So if galaxy note 1 get this multitasking feature, might it be easier to port to galaxy s2? As i know, the hardware is same with g2.

Hi, I'm using my Fassy as a temporary replacement as I sell my Note 2 for a downgrade on Swappa. You might be asking why in the hell I'm selling my Note 2. Trust me, I don't want to sell it, but I have to for extra cash.
Anyways, I'm looking through the Development thread and all I see are AOSP roms. My question is, where are all the TouchWiz roms?! I like to rock stockish TouchWiz roms on Sammy phones. So I'm assuming developers are no longer producing TouchWiz roms for this device. In that case, can you, XDA, provide me a link to the most-recent Fassy TouchWiz rom with a modified TouchWiz kernel?
A Thanks will be given to people that help out. Thank you! :good:

Yeah, this device is still being worked on which is amazing. And that would be awesome to see Samsung build 4.2 TouchWiz UX builds for this phone but we all know they are looking ahead haha
Hi, I have a HTC One S. I can't complain about the phone but there aren't a lot official ROMs for this cellphone. On the new website of aokp isn't any ROM for the one s anymore, cyanogenmod has only cm10 stable and some 10.1 nightly and there is screen tearing, too. Or for example Ubuntu touch isn't avaible. Or a super nexus ROM. Or miui 5.
So my question is what is a good supported but also powerful smartphone?
Only Nexus devices get the most development support. Get a Nexus 4...
Sell it and equip yourselves with a nexus you won't start a thread like this again - for nexus something new pops up everyday
OK and any other devices? Maybe for people who are reading this thread and dont like nexus?

If you don't like nexus don't worry you will also able to use latest android resources.
But you need to search in google that how to make a own custom rom

The Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Note II all have great developer support, the US market versions of these phones have even better developer support but the International versions are great too. The Xperia Z is another phone with great developer support as well. All of these devices have official Cyanogenmod support, and AOKP support (Except for the Galaxy S4 which at this moment doesn't have official AOKP) support.

Its not simple but these days there are tutorials on compiling/debugging that makes life easier for newbies wanting to take first steps into aosp development
Bro making a rom is hard for us but not impossible.
You just need to learn how to port rom's from another device and how to modify your stock kernel to work properly in your custom rom.
Don't forget that the nexus/cm rom makers are also a human like us.
Try to search in Google.com

I'm sure having an official (and very similar) AOSP branch to work off of will help the developers.
CM 10.1 is pretty solid but I hope this will help weed out the rest of the bugs.
