[Q] Htc one x+ root or radio problem.... - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
This is my first thread in this forum and My main problem is, I think, my phone. Basically, i have no clue what "root" does to a phone...but that's why I'm here!
To be more precise, i bought a radio (Pioneer AppRadio 2) that apparently it works with many android phone (mine included). The problem is that when i connect it with MHL the radio doesn't recognize it at all...it wont charge, it wont do anything...except the Bluetooth that works even thought I don't connect it...
The thing is, I've red a little bit online, and apparently I need to root the phone....how is that going to change anything? Will it work? How do I "root" the phone?
Thank you for your help!

HELP! tethering worked only once (even after driver fix)

Hello, i've got a problem with my HTC Hero.
I searched the entire forum but i couldn't find an answer to my problem
I managed to connect to the internet trough my Hero on my laptop when fixing the driver (known problem), it worked perfect.
The only problem i encounter is that tethering is only working once with the driver. when I disconnect my Hero from my laptop, and reconnect again, the only thing to get tethering working again, is to reinstall the driver.
after that i rooted my phone and tried wireless thetering, it did'nt work at all. I could see my Hero as a wireless router (or something like that) and i could see other wireless computers. but i didn't manage to get the thing working online..
when connected, i can still use my hero to go online but my laptop fails.
I'm not in the position to check on another laptop, so i cannot test wheter it is the Hero's problem or my laptop's.
please help.

I doubt anyone can do much until you've determined whether or not your laptop is at fault here! It does very much sound like a PC rather than Hero issue to me.
Have you tried installing a Modaco ROM to see if this helps?
Regards,
Dave
I just had the opportunity to check it on another laptop. Still got the same problem.. at the end of the week i'll try another ROM.. if that doesn't work.... i'll try out the flying capacity of the hero.

Questions about Rooting, BT and a few other bits

I got my HTC G2 (T-Mobile UK) today and so far I'm loving it.
I upgraded it to the latest official ROM for t-mobile which is 2.73.
So, I'm just wondering how I'd go about rooting it? I know there are guides which I'm happy to follow, but it seems to me that T-Mobile put something in their builds which is why we have to wait for new releases for so long.
So what do T-Mobile do to the ROMs? Is it possible for me to put a custom ROM on here? If so, do I lose anything? Do I lose any accessibility to T-Mobile stuff like Internet, MMS ect?
Also, something that's REALLY bugging me is the BT Discovery mode. You can only make it discoverable for 2 minutes. Yeah I've read that once paired with a device then all should be good, but that doesn't seem to be the case with my BT Handsfree CD Player in my car. Previous phones (Including the HTC HD2) allow me to just get into the car and drive away and the devices connect theirselves automatically. However, this is not the case for the G2 and I can only assume that this is due to the discovery mode being off.
So there are my newbie questions. I really don't want to brick my phone so I have to ask before I do anything.
Thanks for your time.

Questions about Vibrant!!!

Hi, I recently adquired the Galaxy S Vibrant from T-Mobile (and i'm very happy with)... I have a few questions about it:
1) Has a secondary cam? because in some webs says yes or no.. it kinda confusing.
2) How can I change the bootscreen? it's not easy like a motorola droid/milestone? 'coz i can't find precisely how to do it.
3) I need an specific 3.5mm-RCA to use TV-OUT? i've one of my nokia n95 and the tv detects a signal, but nothing happends. And can i use the micro-usb-hdmi cable with this?
Thanks alot

1) First go into your sound&display settings menu and turn tvout on then try switching the colors on the rca cables around. With this phone some times either the red or white end up being the video signal. If this does not work then your cable probably wont work.
2) No there is only 1 camera

Bluetooth Devices

EDIT: Never mind, tested it on other phones and it works fine. Apparently my phone's hardware has broken Bluetooth. Great. Might just switch phones because of that.
Okay. So, I took the plunge and bought the Sony Smartwatch 2. It's a nifty device, and I've had my eyes on it for a while. But here's my problem - It'll stay connected via Bluetooth, but it won't sync information. I've already asked around on those forums - Those guys aren't much help. The thing is, I think my phone's Bluetooth is faulty or malfunctional. It doesn't work with my MOGA controller either.
I am sincerely asking, is there any way to fix this?
And yes, I know this isn't the right forum - But I'd be drowned out by everyone over there asking about Security Errors because they didn't read.
Thanks in advance. I'm flashing Kuma's ROM again (Currently on V21D from Wind) and factory resetting, going to see if that'll fix it.

[Q] HDMI alternatives

So I am an idiot, I jumped the gun and bought the new Droid Turbo. Thinking it was the latest and greatest etc etc I grabbed it, only to find out later, it does not have HDMI/MHL. It never even crossed my mind, I just assumed HDMI/MHL was standard these days, Every other phone I have had has had it. So my predicament. I use an AppRadio in my car, Cant stand the regular radio and I have been in love with the radio for almost 2 years (i think) but without having HDMI, I can not use the appradio with this new phone. I use the AppRadio Unchained mod that is posted here, or did use it I should say. I think I vaguely remember reading about some people using a cast type device to wirelessly hook up their phone to the radio. My question is, if i use a device like miracast, or what not, will it work like I have installed an HDMI cable, and will I still be able to use the touch functions of the radio, or am I going to need to rethink my purchase and possibly return the phone? Wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this or not. Thanks in advance.
