Hello everyone.
I recently installed the CM10.1 on my galaxy s3. One thing that really annoys me is the fact that the messaging app (text messages) does not display the little bubble on top of the app to show that i have text messages. Is there a way to make it happen or am i missing something in the settings?
thanks!

try using a custom launcher like apex it allows you to set a default messaging app and various others and then have the notification bubbles there but yeah as the other guy said wrong section

Hi all,
is it possible to display new whatsapp messages directly on lockscreen? (like on ios? Display lights up if new message comes in and i can read message directly on lockscreen, thats what I want.
Bought some apps but nothing works fine :-(
Sorry for my poor Englisch...
For directly showing message on lock screen it depends on the ROM I think.
Is there any rom for my desire hd available?
I am using virtous quattro with ics at the moment.
You need to post this there.. I don't have desire. So, can't say.
I think widget locker is what you need. I use handcent for sms, and it gets through the lockscreen just like you describe.

The lockscreen code is either part of the framework.jar or the systemui... and if the device is not rooted, you cannot change it.
If you are a programmer, what you could try is to create a new window (for example with the WindowManagerImpl hidden class) trying different window types: window types define the layer where the window will be placed. For some window types you might need some special permission (for example I think TYPE_SYSTEM_OVERLAY will be placed above lockscreen, and it needs the SYSTEM_DIALOG permission)
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Currently there isn't an (lockscreen-)app that allows that. If you are a programmer you can always try to make it yourself, like mentioned above. But be warned, it's going to be a hell to create it
I´m not a Android programme
There is an option in the settings of whatsapp "turn on the pop up messages" check that box n u are good to go
i know this option, but it´s still behind the lockscreen...
Hey guys!!
This pop-up message, allows you to answer the message even with the lock screen. I think it's a lack of security because anyone can answer it if you forget your phone somewhere.
I've already try to talk with the developers of Whatsapp, but with no success.
On iphone you can only read and unlock to answer.
That's right, the popup feature when set to 'always' or 'only when screen off' shows messages and I think even allows replying from the lockscreen. You can't go view the full convo without unlocking though. This is the way it works at least in the latest beta from http://www.whatsapp.com/android/

Hi,
im using cm10.1 at huawei g300 and im missing some feature in stock sms app - maybe it's strange, but i really like it, it's simple and has almost all features which i need. Almost. I have problem with sending sms to a group, i have to write concacts separately, and there is no other way to do this. Below is screen from other (also stock?) sms apk (the dark one) and there is a "people" button, after click u can choose from your contacts more than one person.
In my phone it look's like at attached screenshoot - im missing button in place which is marked with red almost-circle. So is it possible to get that "people" button? Something in settings or maybe modded app? I couldn't find anything. And the reason why i don't have that button atm - it's because of CM rom or just google has removed it or...?
Thanks in advance for answers ("Install Go-sms/chomp/handcent." is not the answer - i know that way:>)
Sorry for my english
And sorry, if wrong section.
Hey guys (and gals),
Does anyone know if, and if so which, a different native/stock messaging app can replace the default one (recovery flashable zip or just apk) that will enable either FULL size MMS slideshow pics, or preferably "de-slideshow" them into clickable individual pictures? Kind of silly that it shows up on a phone with a 5.3" screen at 3/4 size...
I've tried the Handcent, GoSMS, Pansi, etc, and don't want/need the weight and customization abilities of them.
I have a friend with an HTC One S, and slideshows on his phone come up as simply as clickable individual pics. He is running a stock/unrooted phone.
Thanks folks,
Jack

I've never seen anything like this, but it'd be nice. Another SMS app is the slope sms app. Pretty cool, but idk if it has this feature or not.

I am currently running a 4.0.4 rom based off of the at&t official 4.0.4. I recently compared phones with my friends samsung galaxy note 2 also running 4.0.4 but the core samsung version, and i love their messaging appearance so much better. its the same, but the background is black, and their speech bubbles are blue and yellow. mine is white with blue and grey bubbles.
anyway to download this version for my messaging app? i am otherwise happy with the way my stock one works.
anyone got anything at all??

You should be able to change the appearance of the messaging app's speech bubbles and background, by going to the settings section in the messaging app and then under the display options section should be the options for changing background and speech bubble appearance.

I dont have any display settings within my messaging app at all besides font size. and the general display settings, nothing applies to messaging except the font style will change in messaging as well.
i dont think i can take it from my friends since its not rooted.

What I would recommend doing is using ADB on your friends device and using the adb pull command pull the messaging application from his device to your computer, and then install it on your device. The command adb pull /system/app/AppName.apk should get you the app you want.
Moved to this wonderful phone recently from iPhone and love it,however, I do miss a few things like making a window pop up in front of me when I have a message in notification bar. I've played with all the settings and also miss the new email or message counter rather than a small blue circle against the app. Bet there's heaps of ways! This thing can be modified to be anything! Cheers

You can have counters instead of the circle by going to Settings -> Notifications -> More Notification Settings and changing the method.
The popup is not possible by default in Android (would find that extremely annoying personally) but there are two options:
- Find a 3rd party app in the Play Store (search notification popup)
- Use the in-built popup feature for some apps like WhatsApp.

Fun fact. The pop up notifications are old Android features from 2 - 3 years ago that iOS adopted. So when you say iPhone type notifications they're actually from older versions of Android. ? They are now mostly reserved for messaging apps. You can get it working for messages and I'm sure you can find aps for the rest of the stuff. I have to admit that EMUI is not ideal for notifications.
