I am New To Beats Auido and it does sound great... But my speakers seem quiet.. The ringer and notifications need to be brought up more... I have been look for some kind of eq or Something (yes I did check.. All the volumes are up!).
I would. Just. Think that with beats audio I would get a app like voodoo....
So is There a. Beats audio app or am I going to have to wait. For a. Kernal and voodoo???

Beats Audio essentially IS an EQ (a bad one at that) that cranks your bass and highs, and muddles everything in between. Sound is pretty great with it turned off.
I have also found the volume on this phone to be annoyingly low though - no idea how to fix that one. Anything below "half" on the volume meter is almost inaudible.

And were back in the lifeless cycle of cranking up our phones and blowing our speakers.. The same scenario happened on the EVo 4g and a lot of Rom users complained of blown speakers.. Don't mess with it!

Well I find the sound very clear.. Well at least compared to my epic 4g... But it could be a lot louder. I will look into volume +... But I definitely don't want to blow my speakers.

Beats EQs the bass. Makes music boomier. I'm not sure it works with Bluetooth devices cause it doesn't with my plantronics 855. If u have headphone jacks you could use, try using them then disabling beats in notification to hear the difference.

This phone rocks!
Being a musician for more than 12 yrs. I also have worked with several Eq and soundboards. I got to say Beats audio definitely sounds outstanding!
I really enjoy this phone. Best phone I ever owned period.
Beats is awesome. My EVO LTE is a Beast.
Depends on what I'm listening to, sometimes its great other times "Classical" & "Dance" are more fitting EQ settings.
Sent from my EVO LTE
The beats audio check box that appears when music apps play turns the Beats EQ on and off. I've got much higher quality audio equipment than Beats brand, personally I think it sounds horrible over my Alpine head unit in the car, but sounds ok on my Motorola Rokr S9s on the right song. On my home surround it sounds like crap, and my Senheiser head phones also don't seem to like it.
As far as the phones audio it self? Outstanding in general.

Where do you navigate to in the phone to adjust the eq settings. Is it even possible to adjust the eq settings?

You're a musician and you think Beats Audio is impressive?? An EQ that cranks the bass and makes it boomy and muddies all of the mid-range? Eh, I think the DAC on this device does a great job in general, but Beats screws it all up. On a high quality set of speakers, tell me that turning Beats OFF doesn't help the sound quality and balance.

I like Beats Audio when I'm using my bluetooth motorcycle helmet to listen to music, but that is ONLY because it makes the volume on it a little louder.
Once I plug in my Bose headphones I instantly disable Beats, I don't listen to the type of "music" that was designed for and it makes what I do listen to sound like crap.
Even my teenage boys, that have the same phone, think that Beats is overrated. It is fine on some songs, but generally using something like PowerAmp, which gives you a lot of flexibility, sounds better.
Beats is a one-trick poney.

Ill tell ya, Beats does help with the loudness of the music in my car via Bluetooth. Im just trying to figure out what kinda Headphones i wanna get. Not expensive of course. Just something to listen to a litle music, and some Podcasts...Any suggestions besides Beats headphone?
Im not as as technically incline as some of the guys replying to this post but only know that with my jaybird freedoms there louder and clearer then my e4gt and wayyyy louder then when i had my 3d. Only other time ive compared beats audio to anything else was car shopping. I test drove a new chrysler 300 with beats audio and thought it was really nice well i bought a 11 hyundai veracruz and that infinit audio system smashes hat beats audio one and my gfs alpine in her lincoln

This. I listen to bass heavy music (dubstep, electronic generally) on a pair of ultrasone DJ1 Pro's. Adding the beats audio makes everything rumble more than it needs to, especially with FLACs
I love loud music and crazy bass on my one x+ its ****ing awesome. On the DNA isn't as clean as the one x+ no way u can go all the way up. Not even close. Start distorting quick. And I use the beats mixr. Which they perform amazing on my one x+ by adding that extra amp power for the headphones I think it kills the good sound bass not clean. Anyway. Not to bad. I'm sure you'll have different opinions

You are giving to much output to your source unit/headphones. It isnt the old oneX/evolte beats amplifier built in. It's a newer higher output beats amp. Which will sound better on high powered 16ohm headphones.

That is interesting to hear considering by all reports the One X (international) and One X+ have lower audio quality then Qualcomms solution (One XL, GS3 USA, etc).
One would assume that with the added amp quality would be even cleaner.
Could you confirm the bit rate of the file your using?

My mistake,I have not heard the one x+. But I can confirm that when my EVO lte volume is up all the way,and a friends DNA volume is up 70% they are almost equally loud holding sound quality at the same time. However blasting the output on the DNA seems to have poppy bass like a blown speaker with apple/Sony ex58 earphones. Now with ultimate ears metrofi (low models) it doesnt distort, so I am puzzled and not sure if its an extended EQ or just a crappy chipset. Hopefully its just a software issue because i am leaning towards this device

Doesn't seem puzzling to me. Sounds like the phone is too much for the craptastic buds, and just fine for the quality ones.

It sounds great on my car system, at 100% volume, so I'm guessing the problem is not the phone amp but rather the beats. I haven't had a chance to try my iBeats (got with rezzy) though...

Poking around in the settings menu, it seems you can turn of the "beatsAudio" enhancements. Does that change anything?

I can confirm even with beats off, the.dna does infact have to much output for crap headphones. Also I heard the output was high enough to push the beats studios, so I could imagine all the blown overpowered buds that are about to be seen. It is pretty loud for a cell phone

I'm sorry to say, its not the audio drivers or hardware on the phone, it is absolutely your headphones. This phone amazingly has enough power to drive my my Sony mdr-v700dj's. even more impressive it drives my sennheiser hd598's. If you don't want to break the bank on headphones that have the oomph or prefer earbuds instead, I would reccomend the skull candy FMJ. With the power of this phone the fmj's are a perfect match.
<-----using them right now loud and clear at max volume RATTLING MY BRAIN!
I just tried my Butterfly with Monster Nokia Purity and was quite impressed with the sound. I'm glad they have enabled the Beats profile for other headphones...
Only problem now is that I have the white Butterfly and blue headphones... what to do...

Yeah this phone will crank with any pair of headphones or line out that I use... Even my crap ibeats that came with my rezound, even though the left one crackles and they're on their way out. This sounds amazing with my Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro's and I love having the nooz dsp to shape eq depending if I'm using ibeats, COP's or my car sound system...

Pretty sure that anything with a Beats logo is horrible sonically...so yeah, there's that.
As for the issue of volume...when I use my ear buds or full sized cans, the DNA sounds quite a bit better than the HTC 8x I have. Compared to my old One X, they are about the same volume wise. All of them distort at high volume...that's just a limiting factor to the amp itself...and the overblown bass that goes along with that Beats logo.
I would have to say it is the headphones.
Audio sounds amazing on my ATH-PRO700's I don't get any distortions of any kind
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I definitely get distortions or at least noise on the DNA. Try listening to something that has both loud and quiet parts, and you can hear a hiss when it's quiet. This is with beats turned off (beats is another layer of distortion at least for me).

For those who havent already read the other topic it might be due to the 4G LTE band causing interference... put the phone into airplane mode and see if the buzzing/humming stays or goes
definitely agree, is there a way to turn it down?

No, but you can turn it off completely.
so yeah. when i plug my earbuds that work with anything else, sound only comes out one ear (left spicifically) ... with beats on AND off.
i use beats tour earbuds... not sure whats happening as this is system-wide, not just poweramp.
Um, are you pushing the headphones in all the way.
