[Q] Google Play Services Error - HTC EVO 3D

I gave my friend my rooted Sprint phone and I think the re-activation kind screwed it up.
The phone is running SOS M (I forget what version but I installed it about 4 months ago) with android 4.0.2 (NOT 4.2), but I see the new Jelly Bean folders (you know when you can stack icons together on the main screen), which is weird because I never had this feature on this phone, only on my new nexus.
Anyway, the problem is that my friend tried to install the new hangouts app from Google which worked great for two days, but now it won't work and every time she tries to open a notification it comes with the error "Google Play services is not supported by your device" (see attached.) I tried to give her a link to the store from where you can download google services but she can't see it, meaning it really is not supported?
How do I fix it, why did it show up out of nowhere?
I could falsh a new ROM but my favorite, CM 10.2, doesn't seem to support the 3D camera. Is that still the case? She wants the 3D camera. Anyone with experience with this?

Yeah I got the same error to for some reason. I'm on SOS M as well. I can't find a way to update it, though i do see it under the manage all apps list.
Pretty much, the AOSP/CM/Sense 4 Roms won't have support for 3D and the Camera since HTC hasn't released the source code for it, meaning a developer would have to code it from scratch, which would be extremely time consuming and difficult.

Now that DSP is working (CM7 v26), NFS Shift still freezes on the EA screen.
What's the deal here?
I actually have this game working on my nook. I am running the latest cm nightly. I didn't install from market tho. What I did was restored my backups from my phone onto the nook so I could install all my apps and data to my nook. NFS even runs in full screen once I disabled compatibility. That is all I did to get it working.

Interesting. I went to re-download the latest version on my Nexus One and I can't find it in the Market. So I go to the Market webpage and get this:
(Notice the blue button says PURCHASED, but I can't install, even on my phone. And the mouseover says not available on my carrier. WTF??)

Try getting the apk from your nexus after updating to the latest version, install via adb/other. The nook is probably missing a feature the game apk says it needs.
Good to know CM7 DSP is coming along, getting kinda tired of nookie froyo reboots/shutdowns and the wifi bug.

Unfortunately, it doesn't show up in the Market on my phone, nor does it work from the market webpage (see screenshot above). What the heck
I really wish Google didn't "hide" apps that they didn't think we could run. Or at least give an option to let us see all the apps.
there is some controversy going on with this game. I have been trying to find it too. I found a forum thread elsewhere which said that it was recently pulled from the market due to some squabbling between the companies that I don't understand.

Hi All.
I have some problem with traffic leaks.
I tried 3 different roms (Original stock, Spring Nano (4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=317166&st=0), NGP_Blue_ROM_LB1_CHRACK_v1.1 ([4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=303776) )
And in all of them my 3g traffic leaks by "OS services + other".
Can traffic leaks by 3g Watchdog?
p.s. I use DroidWall to disable using 3g by all application excluding browser.
p.p.s sorry for poor english
p.p.p.s Samsung Galaxy Note N7000

No changes, traffic is still leaking.
I'm waiting for official ICS rom for my phone. I hope it will be better in traffic saving.
Problem source is still other than you guys mentioned.

- Or you can just Freeze them one by one rather than uninstalling.. i'll try this.
I don't have the ROMs and apps you mentioned guys. Just stock Moto Blur by Motorola razr..
This OS Services consumes half of my data plan and this happened only lately.. Onavo excluded this entry for "restrict to wifi feature."
Still investigating what triggered it. Kindly continue posting if you have updates.
Good luck to us.

Weird thing going on with my galaxy tab 10.1 and play store

This probably could be asked in the galaxy tab 10.1 section but it happened with my Captivate also and I feel like I can get a better answer here.
So for the longest time I kept my Tab stock and the play store works fine with no issues. I then decided to flash a rom (AOKP build 28) and now I recently noticed that when I go into the play store and check at which apps are compatible with my tablet, it shows my tab twice in the list, like so:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(Note the tab is the GT-P7510)
For the record, this doesn't bug me. I would just like to know if anybody know why this is happening and how I can remove it so that it only shows the devices once? As you can see it is showing up for my old Samsung Captivate as well (SGH-i897).

It was happening on my tablet too, when I flashed a new ROM, don't know why...
To remove the unneeded ones click on the little gear in the top right and select (something)&Devices and there just click on the Devices tab.

Awesome that worked perfectly. Thanks a lot. It is also nice to give it a proper name also rather than just seeing the model number there.
I am guessing that the market sees the roms as a new device so it just adds it to the list of devices which you own...unless someone has a better explanation for it.
At a guess I would say that flashing a custom rom must change some piece of data that the market uses to identify your device, thus making it think that it's a different device after you flash it.
I tried to recreate this bug, but couldnt. So I don't think it's flashing different roms that was causing it.
Here's my devices list.
Everything except for the HTC Wildfire is my tablet.
(Some ROMs use a Galaxy Tab 7 build.prop, some use Galaxy S II )

Whatsapp: how to prevent from reading the phone date? (to prevent mandatory updates)

Hi Friends,
I've installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 and whatsapp 2.18.1 to my daughter phone and seem impossible to upgrade to the last Whatsapp version. In fact upgrading to higher versions cause device bootloop. (setting or not privacy setting)
Is it possible to hide to whatsapp the phone date, preventing the mandatory updates?
Using "apktool" I think could be possible to "reverse" whatsapp, but then what I could change for make it?
or is there another way (apart do not use whatsapp)?
Many thanks!

I try to attach my related problem to this one.
As of Feb 24th 2020 Whatsapp ceased to work on older (pre 4.0.2) phones. Mine is a rooted S5360 on a modded 2.3.6. I have actually 1-GT-S5360 CWM.zip on it, downloaded from this site. Anyway, a sturdy little bugger with tons of extended internal memory and storage, and does (did) everything I needed it for, while not cranky about oily fingers, water spill/dive or falling down sometimes on concrete.
The Whatsapp version I use (2.17.250) threw up a warning naming this ominous date right on first installation some 1.5 years ago, so this dead switch feature is coming with the program. The app ceased indeed work on 12AM UK time on the 24th.
I assume at installation a mark is set into some program entry for being put on a "wrong" phone. And it started eagerly watch the system date. After it ceased to work, using Root Editor on setting the Android version to acceptable 4.4.4 didn't help at all. The system "change" showed up after restart nicely in About Phone, but Whatsapp won't launch.
In a desperate attempt I have set the system time to the 23th, and Whatsapp started as if nothing happened. I got the 20 messages that were stuck in the system. Writing new messages is also possible, these arrive OK, and they go out with the actual date.
It became also clear I must keep the fake old system date all the while I need to have Whatsapp open. Once I set it back to the 25th, the program throws up an ugly green screen about phone being too old and Whatsapp is closing now.

I try now to reinstall the same APK set (of course offline and with an adjusted system date) to see wether the fake "4.4.4" system version upgrade foils the activation of the date killswitch feature. As an alternative I can think on getting more old versions of Whatsapp, hopefully not poisoned this way and putting them on test on a separate phone.
It is also possible I upset myself so much on the whole thing, that I sit on to debug the function of the app and find where the trigger date is hiddem and let it slip somewhat into the future, to say 2050.

Help! Is this spyware??

I own a Verizon Galaxy s9+ and A galaxy tab s3. For the past few months I've noticed strange things going on with my phone and for at least 6 months on my tablet. Even factory resets don't solve this. I feel like I've googled everything to no avail. I started to think I was just crazy, until the other day I went to add a new account to my phone, an email account, and noticed something strange under accounts. I don't see any abnormal accounts under "accounts" in settings, but when I click "add account" there is a strange icon with no title next to it, like its hidden, and it has the green circle next to it like its been added, but I can't click or see what it is. Please help! I used to be super nosey on my bfs phone and now wondering if he's had something on mine for a while as well?? Thank you!!

Hi , I'm not sure but I think maybe some spy app is installed on your phone : / . Check if your phone has Official firmware .
To do that , follow this video instruction :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT0wTpJDw50
First time I see something like that ...

A factory reset will not help with many spying apps. Best you can do is send the device back unless have an unlocked bootloader. Then you can format all partitions and add apps back one by one.
To be honest. If something is like this is needed. Then move on. The relationship was already dead.
