For the past day and a half I've noticed my battery hasn't been charging proeprly. It charges very incrementally, and ends up staying around 54% at the most. Before wed night the battery was fine and I was charging sucessfully. But I noticed wed night it was going very slow. I've never had this problem before for since I bought this phone back in Dec 2011.
When I charge overnight, it will charge from the 40s to the 50s in about 6 hours of charging time.
I am stock ICS and using a 3rd party USB cable with the original USB wall connector. I haven't noticed any problems with the 3rd party cable.
I spoke with a Verizon rep and they are sending another battery to me. I'm wondering if you all have any other solutions?
If you have Amon Ra installed, you could try wiping battery stats in recovery.
Original battery? It's possible it's just worn out now. It happens.
I don't have amon ra installed, could I install it since I'm stock and wipe the stats?
Yeah its the original battery.
What's odd is that the battery finally charged past the 50s percentage wise and I let it get to 80%. It went from 80% to 76% in a little over 40 min of use (mainly using the internet browser on 4g LTE).
Could the battery just be messing up cuz its old and used up for the past 1.5 years or so?
Have you been restoring a backup or recently fresh flashed a rom?

I've done neither. For the past two says I've noticed the battery charging to 100% again, though once it took a little longer to get past 53-54%.. I don't know what's going on lol
Try this trick, when it gets stuck at a certain percentage, just reboot your phone. It will/should bring you up to the correct percentage.

I had to get a new battery after about a year because I ran mine down so darn much.
I tried that, but it didn't help with getting the battery charging again. However, the battery has been charging at times the past two days. Sometimes it won't charge, but then it does. What I tried doing was I unplugged a shaver that was charging from the surge protector and plugged it into another surge protector and soon after, my phone was charging overnight.
I don't know how else to explain it, but it seems that this issue is random. Maybe the battery is having issues and it's randomly charging or not allowing it to charge itself.

I have seen a few others mention this, any idea on why some of us are loosing 10% of our battery when we reboot?
I'm thinking next full charge, I will do a battery stats erase in clockwork recovery.

has anyone else noticed that this phone takes ForEVER to charge? My evo would nearly fully charge in an hour and a half, I think my Tbolt, first real charge, took 3 hours.

yeah my iPhone 4 would go from 15-20% to full in maybe 2 hours, on a bad day, and my evo would go from 20% ish to full in an hour and a half.
Guess I am just a little spoiled maybe.
The phone might do a "quick" charge to 80 - 90 percent, and then go into a trickle charge. I can get to the mid 80s in a couple of hours but then is slows down after that, which is a good thing.
I'm seeing the same thing as far as loosing 5-10% on a reboot. Seems like there are still some issues with the battery life on this big guy.
Dan
wait you can unplug your phone? j/k
the boot time stock is way too long... the system is loading so much junk it takes alot out of the battery... my guess is checking all the radios and such uses alot of battery and thats why the phone has the fastboot option
Here some info.

Its also better to charge with a car charger or in the wall. USB in pc does take forever if you are noticing it takes longer this could be a reason.
I was going to post this, very annoying to lose that much battery on reboot. On my evo you would gain charge while rebooting on the charger...

This is true. If I recall correctly, according to USB spec a device can draw about 100mA from a USB port without negotiation. With proper negotiation, the current draw can go as high as 500mA.
The stock HTC charger is rated at 1A (1000mA). So at least on paper, the wall charger is twice as fast as a USB port with proper installation. If negotiation is unsuccessful, the wall charger can be 10x faster than a USB port that isn't properly detecting the phone.
hey guys not a noob but feel like one right now bc i have to ask this.
anyways i have a vibrant running nero 5 w/voodoo. my charger port is iffy at best. i ordered a new usb port off ebay and will be installing it once it arrives.
now the phone charges fine off, however i noticed that when im on it while plugged in charging its loosing percentage. i just finished charging it and turned the phone back on and kept it plugged in to top off the last 4 percent it had to go to 100. and when i check in settings it says 88% about 5 mins later it said 86%
any ideas?
i also did a search and didnt really find anything
I've had this issue since day 1. I've had my vibrant for almost a year now and it's never changed. It's happened on stock and all roms I've used. It seems to happen more when I'm using memory heavy apps or games. I used to play pocket legends and I once drained my battery (while plugged in) so much that I went from %100 down so low my phone died. The charger never lost connection either.
I've also had this happen while streaming tv shows to my phone & using tv out while charging.
Happens to me sometimes. I figured it was a badly calibrated battery. I calibrated my battery and it doesn't happen that much. Oh, and I've learned to not really use my phone when it's charging. Lol.
yea i bought a new battery yesterday. let it die then charged it. drained it and had probs. i wiped the stats and its off charging now sitting at about 92 percent. see how it goes

I've gone through it with the stock battery and my 3000mAz
Are you overclocked at all? Maybe set a charging profile with setcpu to lower clock and/or undervolt if you have a compatible kernel? Not sure, just throwing out ideas... Good luck, hope you get it figured out.
[SOLVED]
issue has been solved. thanks everyone
How did you solve it
it could be an app using the cpu at all times
turned the phone off and let it charge all night and that was about 3 days ago and its back to normal now. it was deff a bettery issue as i have 3 batterys and 2 extended ones and my other batteries would charge just fine. but all good to go now. thanks.
Anyone know how I can get my battery back to charging to 100%? I flashed nuetrino yesturday and had to restore my backup, now my phone wont charge past 78% even though it still says charging.

Its charging to 4200mV but only saying it's at 78% and still charging. I tried the Juggernaut fix before and it actually killed my battery life. ill try taking the battery out and plugging it in to the wall.

This will definitely fix the problem, but only temporarily. Next time it drains down and I try to charge it up again, it stops at 80-85%. But when you look at the battery stats, it shows 4200.
I've tried wiping the battery stats, applying the Juggernaut fix, following the steps in the ultimate batttery guide -- still have the problem. I even switched back from CM7 to stock ROM and can't seem to shake this issue.
Just totally kill it and then recharge it fully.
Thats what I do whenever I get this problem.

I am having the same problem since updating to gingerbread. Will try deleting files above. First time I´ve seen that advice.
Just an update. Temporary fix for me only. Phone still charges only to 60% after a recharge.tried everything so far with no results.
I switched from the ics mod cm7 to nuetrino and also drained it fully. It now charges to around 93ish%, but my phone normally charges to only about 95-97% even when it was on stock.

this method works to set your current level to 100% or 99%. just did it with 67% remaining and rebooted to see 99% battery. tried wiping batt stats and plugging in without booting but it still saw the batt as full.
luckily i was just experimenting so i had backed up all three of those files and restored them and was back to 67% after reboot. so i'm charging it to the max my phone sees now (87%) and then deleting the files to set that as the new 100%.

Let me know if it sticks after a full discharge and recharge. I deleted the files while i was at 100%, maybe if should have done it while stuck at 60%.

I also just deleted the files, i had a full charge (showing 93% (and thats been the highest in weeks!)), i will post back my findings as well
~~~EDIT~~~
4 hours later, full brightness and no screen timout, i am down to 1%.... just waiting for the phone to turn off. i want to post my results so you guys can see when you come on next... the longest part now is going to be the full 100% charge, which i have not had in weeks.... fingers crossed!
~~~EDIT 2~~~
Well I have been stuck at 93% for the last 30 minutes or so. looks like if you let the phone go dead or power down, it reverts back, or there is something else causing. this issue
It seems to me deleting those files results the same as removing the battery while charging and placing in back.both tips gets you back to 100% but only temporarily for some of us. After a discharge it will not charge to 100%, just as before. I have no idea what is causing it, but my phone battery is about to die from overcharging. like everyone else, it started after a flash.but for some reason it is permanent for some users. Will be getting a new phone if I cannot solve the problem. If anyone had any insights feel welcome to contribute.
ya... after leaving it charge overnight, mine is only at 94%.... so this is only a temp, VERY ttemp fix.
i was thinking the other day, my dad has an Atrix also, his is BONE stock. i was thinking about switching batteries for a day and see what happens.... what do ya think?

Worth a try, I was going to buy a new battery to see if it solves it. from what I have read it is a problem with motorola battery driver and gingerbread. Let us know how it went. Maybe a new battery somehow resets it back into working.

well.... JUST found out that he had his phone on charge all night and guess what.... STUCK AT 90%!!! He has a BONE STOCK, no rom, no root, no nothing, OUT OF THE BOX, Atrix. So thats a twist in this issue. he said he took his battery out with the phone off and when he put it back in, it was 100%. he just told me that the other day it went to 80% charge.
I installed CleamRom 4.3 yesterday and everything seemed to be working great minus when I put the phone on the charger and went to bed.
I woke up to a dead phone and I have no idea why. Anyways, I get in the car and charge my phone on my way to work and it gets to maybe 15%. I take it into work and plug it in USB and check the phone to see it is almost dying. I got a pop-up message about the phone is currently using to much current for the charger.
It went from 100% to 0% in less than 30 minutes while plugged into the wall.
So I pulled up the battery usage and this is what I see:

If anyone has any ideas how to fix this please let me know cause I have no idea what is causing this.

It just started with the rom. It has shut off before at night while charging though but the battery was not dead.
How it is even possible the battery went from 100% to 0 in like 15 minutes?
It's not reporting right or a bad battery. The phone would overhead before draining that much power.

I'll give that a shot once it gets done charging which is going to take forever at work.
Also make sure you are running amon ra recovery....cwm has issues if your phone battery dies....
Sent from my Rezound
Are you using the HTC charger, or something else? A lot of chargers will only put out half the current the HTC charger puts out, and the Rezound draws a lot. I have several chargers, and my phone runs at a discharge on more than one if the screen and/or radios are on. If I set the phone to stay awake when on power, on some chargers it would deplete the battery overnight.
All chargers have a 5v output specification. IIRC the HTC charger is 1000mah. A lot of devices that work on early USB specs will only output 500mah or less. Check your chargers.
From yesterday I have been seeing some major battery charging issues with my S3.
Battery drained in evening, came home and connected it to charger for 3 hours and saw battery was just 8%. I removed the battery and put it back and left it for whole night charging. Woke up and saw (after 8+ hours) 22% charged.
Now that's a serious issue. What else can be done now? Is my adapter not working? or that mini dock? or something else?
Samsung disappointed.
Try reboot. Could be a rogue app constantly pushing your CPU. If it does not charge faster, try shut the phone off at a percentage you know, charge a hour and boot it up. Should have charged at least 40% in that time.

Try wiping battery stats in cwm?
or
use a different cable/plug
There are quite a few faulty wall chargers around. Mine was totally dead others work only sometimes... Maybe try charging @pc or with a different adapter.
Due to the software update via Kies, Root access and CWM was lost. Will use a different adapter...
Now it's being charged via my laptop (very slow though) but adapter was not doing anything except just showing the red LED light. :/
I think I have to change the adapter.
It's the adapter which is not working. Charged from Galaxy S2's charger. Have to get it replaced from samsung service center.
