If I unrar the apk out of two diff ROMs, take some lockscreen images out and replace the images from another framework-res.apk, do I just need to re-rar/zip it, rename to .apk and then overwrite it using root explorer and then change permissions?
Or do I have to rezip and then flash whole ROM?
Thx in advance.

Its not that easy of a process..
You'll need to learn how to use APK Multi-Tool
the lockring images are not in the framework.apk they are the ones when you open the rom then system then app they are call=Idlescreen_Base.apk idlescreen_photo.apk idlescreen_shortcut.apk IdleScreen_Stock.apk IdleScreen_Weather.apk
i just change it on zr3d from meanromics cause i didn't like the one in zr3d hope this helps

The ones I found are in the framework res apk. I want the ones from Mazda's jb aokp which were in drawable-xhdpi to replace agrabrens cm10 1.6 which were in drawable-hdpi. I have both folders pulled up and see each roms lockscreen weather icons? Sure that isn't what I'm after?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
If ur just replacing images...take both the Res folders out of the apk. Meaning using 7zip or winrar to open each apk up. Drag and drop each Res folder to ur desktop. Open each folder up. Drag and drop images from one to the other. Then once done drag and drop the correct Res folder back to the framework.apk that u want to use. Once done u can replace via root explorer and fix permissions and reboot phone
No need for to use apk multi tool unless ur decompiling and playing with XML files or actually editing .9 files. Tbh its an overkill to use it for anything less.

Thanks, thanks pretty much what I was figuring, just wanted some conformation.
Got them switched out and working. At first I just pasted it not thinking and didn't have the correct permissions set and put myself in a boot loop..:banghead: heh
So I just flashed ROM over itself and set correct permissions before swapping it out again. Rebooted fine and have new imgs. Thx smurf!

Well depends on your system size
On ace when they become bigger then 80KB the bootanimation stopped showing because of bootlogo size
So i compressmy pngs first pretty hard so it will be atleast 50% less size

I was just laming over the internet and downloaded this from another website.. It was for Nexus 5 I remember. I extracted the png's converted them for Xperia SP added "Xperia SP" frame at the end.
As per the white one I just inverted color of all the color files using picasa and compiled them :silly:
