U can check 'CPU tuner' or 'Set CPU' apps from stores whick can do the same for u
PS- But u should ensure that the Kernel on ur phone for now does support Overclocking or Under Volting for now
And also its not advisible to Overclock or undervolt ur phone since they might cause stability issue on the long run, since they are done by advance user's just to test some 'Benchmarks'
Using search is a beautiful thing.

just check the link posted by @MistahBungle ma8 there it has been made very clear about 'Overclocking for u.
please do some reading of the contents in that link for now to understand the same 'Overclocking'

Hi everyone,
I already install Devoid.Franco and his kernel, but i dont know if this kernel has the Touch Fix like Mik_os' kernel touch fix.
I read all the initial post from franco but i cant find any information about it.
thx
it does have the touch fix. but some ppl have problems with tht kernel.
its for u to make the choice

I am using SetCpu and it say 600 mhz, I thought Devoid.Franco was 729, i download No-Frills and set it to 480/729 with SMARTASS, im gonna see what happens now.
thx
interactive 480/768 is also good

Tried it on my optimus one....Screen goes off. Not stable Got stock 2.2.2
My SGA is on GB 2.3.6 (Russian ROM) and I have installed No-Frills CPU, but I am not able to use it to full potential. The Developer says I need some custom Kernels for this.
Which Kernels are these? Is it ok to use diff kernels?
what do u mean by "full potential"?
afaik for changing cpu scaling freq, cpu governor or changing disk io scheduler, u can do it even on stock kernel. maybe the selection is a little bit less, but it'll definitely works.
i dont know if cpufrills can also change cpu voltage, even so we dont have any kernel that support cpu voltage changing yet.
You might have seen No-Frills cpu, but few users are getting more governors than me using some diff kernel.
anyways, I want some other way, so that my cpu cuts down frequency really down when phone is locked, and jump up accoring to requirement. (Just like Cool'n quiet in AMD)
then u might wanna install cfroot kernel. it contain smartassv2 and interactiveX that do have automatic cpu down scaling when screen off.
but u can also set up profile to do it manually on other governors using setcpu.
What about the kernel by squadzone supposedly optimised for gingercruzt but it works for cm7 and has 6 IO schedulers, but cf-root is best for stock

My phone is already rooted and got busybox. So if I use cfroot, what would the affect on previous root and busybox? How do I backup current kernel if I need to go back.

no, it wont affect root as it also give root.
and just use clockworkmod recovery to create backup of ur whole rom. and if u just wanna restore kernel use the advance restore to restore just the kernel itself

Hey, I'm using ICS Final and I only have the InteractiveX and normal Interactive options but not the smartassV2. Where can I get it? I'm using the Smartass governor out of all of them. What is the difference between the two? (V1 & V2)
Thanx a lot for all the info mate. Can u just help me find one appropriate for my phone?
Version 2.3.6

Install zImage-Mod v1.0 (you can find it in the Development Section).
So, I've upgraded my Siyah Kernel to the latest version and set the CPU UNDERVOLTING to -100mV(default is -No Undervolting), governor to lulzactiveq, max frequency to 1.6(default is 1.4) and voltage control to 1325000 uV (default is 1350000)
Is this safe ? No crashes so far.
Yes there is no problem..,..
Read siyah kernels information its very helpful to you.....
If you face some sort of problems go to siyah setting and hit on default setting.....

I just had a freezae and needed to remove the battery to reboot it again. Advice of going one step lower to 1.5 ? or increase a few voltage @ 1.6?
is 1400000 good for 1.6?

P.S : I think the problem is my rom, because its freezing, except for 1.5(stable). Rom is OMEGA 33.3
Well i rebooted my s3 , 1.6 oc and voltage control to default and uv @ -100mV. Its stable. Stay with this?

What Kernel,Rom u using?
what r u ur OC settings?
and btw hav u tried different kernels and RoMs?
Important-
Be really carefull when overclocking(as mentioned in many places)
cause ur battery will have more strain.
and because of that u will lose a lot of Ions/cells(science thing )
and that will decrease ur battery life very badly.
My EXPERIENCE
Please Click 'Thanks' If I helped
my kernel version is
3.6.32.9-perf

do this things
install wakelock detector to see which app is causing wakelocks and draining battery
change the governor to smartassh3 if your kernel supports it
in your post it's your kernel version not the name of the kernel

ur clock speeds are fine,
i suggest u try ROMs like Ultimate HD,Revolution ICS ,etc
if uve unlocked bootloader . u can try even more Roms and kernels.
and again, if uve unlocked - try suave kernel , fusion kernel, etc
and ya u should try wakelock
or
just simply see battery usage in settings(if u dint see)
and keep an eye on the governor u select
Please Click 'Thanks' if i helped
You should try following:
1. Changing CPU governor (e.g. switch to ondemand from performance, or to powersave, sometimes those default governors can be buggy, so try alternative like smartass)
2. Remove widgets from homescreen that you don't use, especially weather widget.
3. Turn off sync when you don't need it.
4. Change your brightness. If it is on max set it to half or automatic, you can turn it completely off, but then screen is unusable on daylight (my experience)
5. Turn off wifi or data when you don't use it.
You can also do some tweaking in easier way using Pimp My ROM from Play Store. If that still doesn't help, try different kernel.

i know it but i don't know why some people report that it works
i know battery stats are reset at full charge
but i think manually resetting may help if automatic resetting is not working for some reason
and in the end what's the harm in trying
what will happen if i give max nd min both frequency to 1.6ghz by overclocking on zd kernel??

But in the thread it says its for cm11...and im on stock.
Also i wanna share something:
I managed to clock the kernel on 1600mhz....
But then when i checked states..all the time kernel remained on 1000mhz. see attachment. Also the cpu always showed offline...and that's funny as our phone got only 1 core and if that too becomes offline...how the hell will then our phone be working?
Then i reverted back to stock kernel....and there too cpu0 was seen offline....is that even possible?
Hope this helps you in figuring out the problem.:fingers-crossed:
