Hi, I'm new here and sorry to bother ya all, but I have a problem that I have discovered lately with my Prime. One section of the touch screen seemed to be unresponsive to touch, it's only about 1cm from the left bezel when viewed in landscape mode, for some reason it just won't respond to touch anymore, is this a software problem or something's wrong with the hardware? I'm very reluctant to send it for repairs because I needed it. Would appreciate any kind of help, my prime is running on Android 4.1.1, stock Asus software. Thanks
Probably hardware. Try a factory reset but I doubt it would work. ASUS will replace the screen for you under warranty. The screens are very bad quality. Mine has been replaced twice in RMA. Also a new motherboard, casing, 2x batteries, camera, wifi pcb's. Pretty much a new device.

So, about 2 weeks ago, I got my HD2 off of Craigslist with a cracked screen. It worked perfectly fine with the exception of the hardly noticeable cracks. I knew I could get the replacement digitizer/screen for $40-80. I got my screen in the mail yesterday and, following the "YouTube" video tutorial found on this site, I......ugh.... replaced the screen....................I SCREWED UP BIG TIME!
First, I broke the ribbon cable for the Side "Volume Up/Down" buttons. Then, I broke the ribbon cable for the "soft keys." Ah, crap, but oh well. I figured I could use the touch screen for pretty much everything i needed to do. Well, while prying the cracked digitizer screen from the LCD, I went a bit too deep & peeled the tinted film off of the LCD. I thought nothing of it at the time. I'd already done enough damage. So the display would be a bit brighter than normal oh well.......WRONG! I put the phone back together and once I get it to power up, all I get is a white screen. I thought I missed something. So I disassemble & check 3 more times. Still a white screen.
Well, after all of this, the new digitizer/screen doesn't want to stay in place very well. So, being pissed off and curious, I pull it out and away and notice in the backside reflection of the digitizer that I can slightly make out the phone display. So, apparently the "Tinted Film" that I accidentally peeled off of the LCD makes images visible on the phone screen. I kind of damaged this film when peeling it off. Therefore, I am unable to put it back on. Does anyone know of a simple fix without replacing the LCD?
SORRY FOR THE "SHORT STORY LONG."
I was brainstorming and thought that maybe the film was polarized. So, I grabbed my sunglasses, which are polarized, and wearing them, I can faintly see the display. Anyone think maybe polarized window tint might fix my problem?
Hey man I have some electronic devices that need repair, can I send them to you to fix them?
SURE!
You can pay me in HD2 parts.
Sir i can only say 1 thing. search ebay and replace everything you damaged. only that way you will get your hd2 in perfect state.

I'd go one step further and say bin it and get a new one!
You sound just like me. That is why I never try things like that anymore. Hope it gets sorted but might be better looking for a used one.
I've got it functioning...
I found the film that I ripped off, put it over the screen and........I CAN SEE! However, the top half has lines through it. So, I must've damaged the LCD. The good news is that my phone is useable again. I just have to do everything via the touch screen and can't let the screen hibernate unless I have my charger close by. I'm just gonna keep my eye out for a cheap busted phone and eventually have a 100% phone again...
I sympathize with you. I broke HD2 while I was trying to check for loose WiFi card cable(cuz i was getting weak WiFi signals). The cable turned out to be fine but the external speaker stopped working. I opened it up again and adjusted some parts and it just got worse. the HD2 didn't power on at all. I tried fixing it but to no avail. I ended up sending the HD2 to a repair shop and was charged $170 for the repair. the repair guy said i messed up the power IC and the connector for the external speaker and he had to replace the power IC and resolder the connector.
I think I'm gonna stop trying to open up expensive phones. i was stupid thinking that since I have successfully replaced digitizer for my previous Palm T3, E2 and T5, opening up HD2 wouldn't be a problem. Should have known HD2 components are really fragile...

The best topic ever Thanks, dude!
Good Day folks, here is the long and short of it.
Galaxy s 2 fell and the screen broke
I bought a new screen
Replaced the screen BUT two big problems occured.
1. The screen appears to have less colours than my original screen
2. NONE OF THE SOFT KEYS WORK, HOME, MENU AND BACK DO NOT WORK.
Number 2. is the big problem. Does anyone have any idea how these buttons work?
Even when I press the buttons directly with my fingers with the buttons off they still do not work.
Im baffled. Please help.
I also have attached pictures of the button area
It happened to me, I removed the screen, I replaced from beginning and it worked...
Hi Collado, do the white things behind the buttons have any electronic functionality or are those just things to make it stick?
To all future readers. I found out what the problem was. Basically,
The home, back and menu keys are all connected to a single ribbon. It appears there is a tiny piece, connected via the back key. That was torn while i was ripping off the the screen and digitizer.
See the picture attached
How much did you pay for your replacement screen and where did you get it. My digitizer is broken due to a drop. My front glass is perfect but the digitizer is completey shot. How difficult was this project?
Hi Johnboy
I cant remember the price of the digitizer offhand but make a check on ebay.. that is where i got it.
Difficulty is high as you need the minature tool set to do this effectively and a gentle touch.
However, it still appears as though the screen I bought has less colours.
Sorry to jump in and unintended hijack
I also dropped my S2 and cracked the screen, and after checking around dropped it in to the Geek Squad at CPW. Who duly replaced the screen and digitizer for £80. Only problem is the screen seems less bright and if moved off the central viewing angle the screen dims, as if it wasa standard lcd and not the orginal AMOLED screen. Does anyone know if they make lesser screens or was it fitted badly.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
DM.
I would go back with it and complain. If you dont get satisfaction then do an impression of the guy that goes into the pizza shop in "rise of the foot-soldier" film.

Hi, I have an Atrix 4g, great phone, by accident hit the screen with a corner an since then the touch start to fail in some spots, de screen was intact, I buy another digitizer on ebay and installed but the new one still have some touch dead spots, I need know if cant be other cause for the failure of the touchscreen in some areas, or maybe the new digitizer was installed wrong or come faulty. Really want fix this phone.
Hey all,
In advance I am sorry if this post is in the wrong section, I noticed there isn't a section dedicated to my particular phone so I just guessed this would be the best of the worst.
So here's the problem. A few days ago my phone fell on the street and the LCD screen got distorted on the left side. It is kinda hard to explain but the problem is that the pixels of the left side of the screen refresh very slowly (if at all). The problem is worse when you get to the edges of the left side of the screen. I attached some pictures so you can see what exactly the problem is.
So obviously my phone needs to be repaired and I would like to do it myself but, as the noob that I am, I don't quite know "what" should or could be repaired.
So here is the first questions:
- If you look at the photo's, do you think the LCD screen is the only thing that is broken?
For the follow-up question is a bit of extra information required. My phone is a strange model so I actually can take out the LCD screen because it is not glued to the touch screen. I've done a bit of experimenting and I already took the phone apart quite easily and dismantled the LCD screen.
So here is the follow-up question:
Is there a way to repair the LCD screen (assuming that it is the only thing that is broken)? Or do I need to replace it?
Thanks in advance,

Hey guys,
Just a quick question. I've got one of the first release Huawei mate 10 pros. Dropped it from about a hip height onto tile, no visible crack or damage to the exterior or screen but since then I haven't been able to use the touch screen.
I get a bit of the slide from the bottom and everything else works but I can't actually use the screen because I can't swipe patterns or type in, it's basically a dead screen, but if the whole screen was out of commission I wouldn't get any slide action at all.
Need the phone for work, any quick responses with experience in the area would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
I'd say its definitely hardware related, as in broken.
You'd have to get it replaced.
Even if you get no cracks the digitizer can be broken.
Aw man, I was really hoping there was some sort of software bug that was causing this, well I'll stay hopeful that this has happened to someone else until I have to claim the warranty

It has happened to me (sort of), but I got a crack and the touch screen below the crack didn't work at all, top part worked fine. Or vice versa, can't remember but one part was still working. This was on a Samsung though.
And on an iPhone the screen completely shattered, but touch was working fine. So the digitizer wasn't hurt there, but it still required a touch + digitizer replacement as they are glued together.
If there's no crack, then it might also be a loose connector. But even so, you would need technical assistance.
If the warranty is still valid and there are no visible signs or scratches from that fall, maybe Huawei will repair it for free.
Yeah I'll be following it up with optus because it's still on a plan. I shattered and bent my mate 9 and as soon as there was a crack the digitizer went. Might as well use the warranty because if I open it up myself it'll void it for future use.
Thanks for your input guys.
