[Q] Stuck @ "HTC quietly brilliant" screen! - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Hello all,
I am in a small conundrum here---
I installed CM10.1 and then flashed Gapps on TWRP --all seemed well, so I wiped the cache and rebooted.
When I rebooted it would not boot past the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen.
So, of course, I rebooted back into recovery and tried to re-flash CM10.1, but this time it failed! It wouldn't even install.
At this point, I tried to flash CWM and re-install and I got an "error status 7 code"
What can I do to get the CM10.1 installed without using an OTG Cable? I do not currently have an OTG cable!
Thanks in advance.

Try installing a different rom first and then flashing back to cm10.1

gunnyman,
I have a backup but its on a different computer--and I can't transfer any files from the PC to the phone as the phone doesn't boot past the logo screen.
Am i going to have to buy an OTG cable? or is there no other way to flash a .zip rom besides in TWRP and CWM?

an OTG cable is the best bet, we can't do anything but sideload a rom on the One. You can try to adb push a rom from recovery, but there have been mixed results in getting it to work.

Okay thanks gunnyman! Two questions..
1) is there a particular OTG cable i should use? I know work and some don't work
2) how do i push a rom with adb? I have never done that before!

I say sideload because when you have bricked it, there's no internal storage to access. Just boot into custom recovery and sideload the ROM I have linked in my signature. Then wipe the dalvik cache and reboot.
To sideload, choose install zip from sideload in recovery, then do adb sideload cm.zip in command prompt.

[Q] Unable to boot any ROM. CWM works (internal)

Hi everybody,
here is my problem: I can not boot any kind of ROM or recovery image. CWM is working properly (it is an internal CWM). I have this issue since I tried to install the CM9 with 3.0.x kernel. I am pretty sure that this situation is all my fault, I mean, I do not think the nook has any kind of damage.
How can I fix it?
PS: I can easily flash the ROMs and the recovery images, but when I reboot the device, it just reboots in CWM.
PPS: I don't know if this can be useful: at the end of the flashing process it says "sd-ext.img not found. skipping restore of sd-ext".
Thanks

The message at end is normal. Did you create a backup using cwm prior to attempting to load new rom? Did you perform reset and clear cache post loading new rom? What were you running prior to this? This might help in determining what the issue is.

- Yes, I've created a backup before loading the new ROM but not using CWM (I've used rom manager).
- Yes, I performed wipe cache and data after loading the ROM.
- When everything was working fine I was on CM7 Alpha Final (the all-in-one-mod version).
Check if there is a backup file in SD/clockworkmod/backup. If so, try restoring backup through CWM. I've had the same problem flashing cm9 3.01 with CWM 5.0. The easiest way back was to restor a backup of previous mod.
Good luck

If u have any zip file of cm7 rom extract it on ur PC there u will find a file "boot.img" , copy it to ur fastboot folder, then in command prompt type "fastboot boot boot.img", that's it the old 2.xx kernel will be flashed

Ok I have some questions.
- Where exactly is the "fastboot folder"?
- Do I have to plug in the SD card into the computer before using the terminal?
Sorry for my ignorance!

PS: I have a Mac. Do I always need the drivers?
Yes, drivers are compulsory
Where can I find the drivers?
Oops sorry, no need of drivers for Mac

By the way, the command is
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
In addition, before you go flashing new kernels, you might want to try and just re-flash CWM. Not sure if it would work, but it's just a thought. You could boot into a CM7 SD ROM, then use @Indirect's Recovery Flasher App to re-flash CWM to see if you just had a bad recovery install. At any rate, good luck.
Ok. But I can't make fastboot works! When I open the program (that is a terminal window) I'm not able to type anything.

When I write "fastboot" nothing happens (it says "command not found").
I don't know if this could help: I just would like to make it run. I don't need any particular ROM. Even a "simple" unrooted stock could be good. I don't mind if I will loose all the data.

[Q] Mount internal or ext SD card from Recovery

Hi guys,
I basically wiped my phone and completely forgot to copy the ROM I wanted to flash into my ext SD card. Now, the phone has no ROM to boot into and I need to be able to mount it onto Windows from within the recovery to be able to do it. I'm running CWM 6.0.2.7
Has anyone ever done this? What should I do?
Thanks
Wipe data doesn't mean format (like PC) it's just a factory reset
you can flash any official FW for your device by Odin
So it isn't possible for Windows to detect the phone in any way so I can copy the ROM into it?
It's possible by using ADB and push it
but why you don't boot up your device and copy it?
Use adb to push the file onto the card. Or remove ext. SD card and use a reader to copy it over.
Here is a good adb interface, it has easy push/pull where you just supply the two file paths and hit go,

Thanks for the prompt replies everyone.
I just re-flashed an original FW through Odin, rooted it back, re-installed CWM Recovery and now tried to flash a new rom, in this case, Foxhound and after it tries to reboot it comes back into CWM always... it never boots into the ROM..
Anyone has any clue why this would be happening?

The ROM? Just did and the same thing happens, boots up to Samsun Galaxy logo, then that "eye" logo then reboots again into CWM. At all times.
I just installed Omega just to try it out and it works, boots into the ROM, with Foxhound it doesn't even reach the Foxhound Logo, it reboots and goes back to CWM... Any ideas? I can't post in the Foxhound thread due to lack of posts
Flash stock Rom, and allow it to boot up properly before you do anything else....did you do that?

Yes, two times already. Then rooted, then flashed CWM Recovery then wiped data etc, flashed foxhound and same thing happens. Tried Omega and it boots into it, it's only Foxhound and I really wanted to try it...
I'm sorry this thread has derailed into another issue but thought it wasn't worth cluttering with yet another thread.
Is it possible to shut down the phone from CWM Recovery aside from doing a battery pull?
Could be a bad download. Try downloading again.

[Q] Bricked! Help!

Hey all
My phone was working great, everything smooth and awesome, but then i turned it off, and boot loop.
I tried reflashing my ROM, (ARHD) But that didn't work
Help!!
Have you tried looking at any of the solutions listed in any of the other hundreds of "Bricked" threads?
Obligatory "search" is your friend statement. If you can get into fastboot, if you can get into recovery, you're not bricked. Restore from your NAND backup, or flash your ROM again.
Like unremarked said, your best weapon is the search box
So you have:
1. Booted to recovery successfully?
2. Already tried flashing your ROM via TWRP/CWM?

[HELP] Phone soft bricked? boot loop

Hey
I've been trying for about 5 hours now with my mac (main computer) and a small netbook (windows) to fix my phone to no avail
Problem started when I tried to flash a rom and towards the rom finishing installation the phone froze and it all went downhill from there.
First the phone would do an endless boot loop and occasionaly it would go to a picture of a red triangle and red exclamation. Now it stays on CWM recovery and if I reboot, it goes to CWM again. Sometimes I get my mac to recognize the phone in CWM, otherwise it takes forever to get there. Any help would be phenomenal.
What phone, ROM, version of cwm.

ok did the rom flash ever finish successfully?
If not, flash again
if so,
restart to bootloader
open a terminal window on the mac and type fastboot erase cache.
reboot the phone.

you need to enter recovery and reflash the rom.
If you are in CWM Recovery, you can wipe cache from there. Look for the wipe option and afterwards go back to the install option and try to install the rom again. Hopefully you checked the MD5 checksum for the rom you downloaded.

reflash the rom the way you did it the first time.
if you're doing AHRD don't press the touch screen use the volume and power buttons to move through the menus
Why would you need to? I am assuming that you downloaded a rom, checked MD5, and then copied it over to your phone's internal SD Card. When you select install from within recovery, you need to scroll and select the file you want to flash. After selection, Aroma Installer will start and you simply follow the prompts.

I got the phone from a friend with 2 roms so I personally never put them there. In the process of messing up my phone I delete all the roms that were in the phone. when i go to "install zip from sdcard" there are 2 options : 0/ and clockworkmod/

Stay calm first. Its not too big. İnstall adb drivers on windows and plug your phone. Enter recovery. Mounts and storage. Usb connect. Then youll be connected to the pc. Copy new roms. And just try. İf its wont work, then try flashing kernel for your android version and phone. One of custom roms must be installed succesful.

the reason you cant find your back up is because all aosp 4.2.2 roms create the "sdcard0" file path for your data, instead of 4.1.x having just the "sdcard" directory. TWRP wont let you navigate back to the original directory, and flashing a stock rom or backup wont fix it. you either have to manually delete the folder on the computer or on a file manager on the phone (but a computer is recomended).
now what type of factory reset did you do? the regular option in TWRP wipes /data, /cache, and /dalvik. is that the one?
i went into twrp and hit "format data" and it told me to type yes and then it formatted everything ...so afterwards it says superuser is not installed then swipe to install it...after i go to reboot system and it says No operating system installed

yea man that format data button wipes EVERYTHING. that button should not be pressed when regularly flashing different roms. it says that because there is no operating system on your phone anymore. and there probably isnt a backup either, as im not sure what partitions that wipes in detail. can you reboot into recovery by holding down the volume down and power button until the lights flash about 10 times? see if you still have a recovery

you also need to make sure you have all the correct HTC drivers for the phone. if you could previously plug your phone in and navigate the internal storage, you should be fine.
1) download a plain, stock sense 4+ ROM and get it ready
2) boot the phone into recovery
3) plug the phone into the computer
4) launch the toolkit. you should see your device in the list at the top of the toolikit. if not hit option 20.Refresh toolkit. if it still doesnt show up, you might have bigger problems
5) select option 14 and follow the prompts
6) reboot the recovery
7) check and see if you can find the rom in TWRP and install
let me know. i'll be off XDA for an hour, in about 45 minutes. but if this doesnt work, pm your gmail address and get on hangouts
